Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 470: Chapter 161: Undercurrents Surging_3

”Stop pretending, or I’ll go talk to the manager.”

”Please don’t.”

Old Wu quickly got up.

Chen Ming shook his head, unable to hold back a smile, and said, ”I heard from the manager that you were hospitalized, so I came to check on you. Turns out you’re just faking! Get out of here and stop wasting medical resources.”

”This hospital is empty every day. There’s no wasting here; not staying here would be a waste.”

Despite his words, Old Wu obediently stood up, seemingly not planning to stay any longer.

Chen Ming glanced around the hospital room and asked, ”Where’s the Power Armor?”

”Left it at the bar. It’s not good to wear it directly and take an ambulance here. I had someone from the bar deliver it to the dock; it should be in the warehouse where we usually stack goods.”

”You’ll definitely see it later.”

Of course Chen Ming would see it; he could dismantle the Power Armor to recycle the materials anytime.

But now that he’s mentioning the Power Armor under his control, it’s not about knowing where it is or wanting it back, but about something else.

Chen Ming said directly to Old Wu, ”The Power Armor is yours, to keep you safe.”

”Although last time’s assassination in the Battle Zone was aimed at me, next time it might not be. It’s better for you to have it, besides I’m not interested in it.”

”Also, about the pirate bounty, don’t go personally. Leave it to someone else to handle.”

”Find someone trustworthy, someone who can collect the money and won’t run away with it.”

Fighting pirates usually results in two things: their bounty and their ships.

Chen Ming can directly take the ships back as long as his fleet includes an engineering ship and a Gamma Core.

Only sending pirates for bounty collection really requires someone to do it.

With Chen Ming’s current involvement, Old Wu isn’t necessarily safe even on the Space Station, let alone elsewhere.

Although the boss just said the assassination was a spontaneous act by someone in the Battle Zone.

But the quick response from the Battle Zone leaves Chen Ming unsure whether its leaders are involved.

So it’s best to have a backup plan, let Old Wu have some means of self-preservation.

Old Wu needs to stay careful too, or he’ll be caught off guard if he can’t wear the Power Armor in time.

Plus, Chen Ming plans to arrange something for the manager for protection, but he’ll discuss it next time they meet.

Old Wu gladly accepted Chen Ming’s gift.

He immediately sent a message to the bar, looking delighted, and said, ”No problem, I’m quite afraid of dying, don’t worry.”

”Hmm, keep the terminal I gave you with you, contact me if anything happens.”

”I came to tell you about this, but I have other things to do, so I’m leaving now.”

”Take care.”

Chen Ming turned and walked out of the hospital room.

He had just left but suddenly turned back to look into the room and said, ”I’ve already sent the news that you’re fine to the manager, so if you don’t want the manager coming over, you’d better leave now.”

Old Wu froze mid-action of lying back on the bed, clicked his tongue, and began changing out of his hospital gown.

Only then did Chen Ming leave, walking down the hospital corridor, thinking about his upcoming tasks.

There’s still too much to handle these two days.

Not finishing everything now would be troublesome later if he had to return after setting off.

He’d rather spend more effort on these matters than come back later to deal with the mess.

So Chen Ming planned to find Bai Quan next, with many issues to resolve there too.

The timing seemed right too, as Bai Quan should be resting.

Just as he confirmed his idea, the elevator in front of the building arrived.

Chen Ming was about to enter when someone stopped him.

The elevator was packed, full of guards from the management bureau.

They surrounded a plump figure, the director.

The guard who blocked Chen Ming said, ”Sorry, it’s full. Please wait for the next one.”

Chen Ming wasn’t wearing his Protective Suit, just casual clothes and a mask.

Dressed in a typical hospital outfit, he wasn’t recognized.

Silently, Chen Ming nodded and stepped aside.

How timid has the director become?

Chen Ming found it amusing, absentmindedly pressing another elevator button.

At that moment, he noticed the director seemed to have his computer with him.

Earlier, Chen Ming had a micro-robot leave some tiny parts in the director’s computer to track its location.

Why is he carrying his computer around?

Without peeking into the closing elevator, Chen Ming focused on the director’s location while waiting for the next elevator.

He also activated the micro-robot left in the director’s office.

Scanning the area with the robot, Chen Ming found the office seemingly hurriedly tidied, leaving it somewhat messy and empty.

Is he planning to flee?

Chen Ming immediately hacked into the management bureau’s system using the backdoor he had previously left.

Watching through elevator surveillance, he saw the director’s elevator solely destined for the top floor, not the office level.

Using the trojan implanted in the director’s computer and unknowingly transferred to the director’s terminal, Chen Ming quickly monitored the situation.
