Chapter 453: Chapter 157: Numerous Affairs_2

The factory director nodded and said, ”The person who took over Bai Quan’s duties after he was injured made a serious error in commanding the battle, not just a minor mistake, but one that could land him in a military court.”

”If given some time, the people behind him could certainly maneuver things for him. He might be demoted, but his life would definitely be spared.”

”Then Bai Quan just used his privilege to have him killed.”

”However, the reason Bai Quan did this is unclear. After all, the prolonged detention and killing of that person also caused disturbances in the battle zone, leading to several days of chaos within the Fourteenth Legion.”

”People in the battle zone, although they wouldn’t dare touch Bai Quan, wouldn’t hesitate to affect the Fourteenth Legion.”

”Therefore, the company still doesn’t understand this matter. If he had just let the person go, then the battle zone wouldn’t interfere with him continuing his normal duties in the Fourteenth Legion either.”

”Moreover, that person was really not worth a bullet.”

The factory director and the company were unsure why Bai Quan did it.

But Chen Ming understood very well.

Because Bai Quan had mentioned earlier that he wanted to give him an explanation.

To make those who committed those acts give Chen Ming an explanation.

He wanted to use this to gain the opportunity to continue cooperating with Chen Ming.

Chen Ming had previously thought that Major General was that powerful.

But thinking carefully, it seems there’s no law that allows a Major General to kill someone publicly. Otherwise, what’s the purpose of a military court?

So, because Bai Quan chose to use his privilege to eliminate that person, he was able to securely hold the top position in the Fourteenth Legion.

Otherwise, he would have been ousted by the furious battle zone high command.

Since Bai Quan was willing to use such methods to earn Chen Ming’s trust, he indeed was worthy of some trust from Chen Ming.

At least after the previous cooperation, Chen Ming felt their relationship could be a bit closer.

The factory director couldn’t discern anything from Chen Ming’s face and continued, ”Anyway, that was his first shot; he still has five more chances.”

”So the company decided to attach itself to a powerful figure. With the previous cooperative relationship, collaborating with the Fourteenth Legion is certainly better than with the former Star Zone army.”

”The Star Zone army has become completely corrupt.”

”Oh, by the way, your relationship with Bai Quan should be unusual, right?”

Chen Ming was suddenly taken aback and asked, ”Why do you say that?”

”Because the company just sent someone to the Fourteenth Legion two days ago. While discussing the redeveloped Sky Steel market, they were exploring other cooperative opportunities.”

”And our people happened to see a Dusk Cruiser following the Fourteenth Legion fleet back.”

”It wasn’t coerced, nor forcibly controlled; it was just normally accompanying the Fourteenth Legion fleet, maintaining a certain distance.”

”The only one capable of doing such a thing would be you.”

”So, the company’s relationship with you needs to be reconsidered thoughtfully.”

Chen Ming had thought Bai Quan’s reasons for his actions were being guessed at, but it was actually because of this.

”So, if that’s the case, does the company want to rekindle relations with me because it knows about my good relationship with Bai Quan, or had it been planning this all along?”

The factory director answered without hesitation, ”Actually, it had already been planning to renew relations with you. I’m the one in frequent contact with you, so the company told me before to handle it.”

”You know my situation; I can’t escape.”

”But you also know me; I can’t use our relationship for such things. Whether your relationship with the company is good or not doesn’t affect us.”

”And as for the company, the intention to reconnect with you is primarily because the environment is changing. Bai Quan has the privilege and capability to confront the battle zone, and he’s always been taking action.”

”Although the Fourteenth Legion was chaotic for two days, Bai Quan suppressed it directly with strong measures.”

”And now he’s preparing his fleet to take action; these are things that can be seen.”

”The company would certainly be willing to invest in someone like that.”

”So, given the conflicts between Bai Quan and the battle zone, and your enmity with the battle zone, reconnecting with you becomes logical.”

Chen Ming thought carefully and concluded, ”So it’s still because of Bai Quan?”

The factory director thought for a moment and didn’t deny it, ”You could say that.”

”Another reason is that the Fourteenth Legion didn’t manage to rescue you before, so you’re unlikely to join them in the future, leading the company to reconsider.”

”Anyway, you can decide for yourself. You don’t need to worry about me; I’m just here to pass on some things and messages.”

Chen Ming immediately refused without a second thought, ”Let’s just leave it.”

He only wanted to maintain a normal relationship with people like the factory director, Lao Wu, and the others.

As for the company, it was what it was, regardless of having the factory director, who was a descendant—maybe an illegitimate child—of the company’s chairman.

Therefore, Chen Ming wasn’t about to completely oppose the company, but the previous relationship couldn’t be restored.

Moreover, the Sinda Corporation was a power-driven entity, with profit above all else.

The company might swallow its pride and seek reconciliation for the sake of profit.

But now, Chen Ming was just an individual, capable of acting according to his preferences.

So he chose to refuse.

The factory director was not surprised by this outcome but continued to push two cards on the desk, saying, ”These things are still for you, as a form of compensation from the company, so you won’t mind the previous incidents.”

”Think of it as the kind of relationship we had thirty, nearly forty years ago.”
