Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 458: Chapter 158 The Disappeared Insects_3

”Each deceased employee will receive compensation.”

”Although it’s a bit late after thirty years, it’s better than nothing.”

”And generally speaking, after these thirty years, there’s a high likelihood that their families are still around, so the money will eventually reach them. The doctor you mentioned is no exception.”

”The company may be a bit shady, but it will definitely handle this matter thoroughly.”

Chen Ming nodded and said, ”Alright, then add a little more money for me, two hundred thousand should be enough, just consider it from me to his family.”

”No problem, if the family is found, they’ll get it; if not, then forget it.”

”Okay.”

Having finally completed something he had remembered for a long time, Chen Ming couldn’t help but lean back in his chair, relaxing a bit, with memories of what happened on the Mining Space Station flashing through his mind.

At this moment, something suddenly occurred to him, and he curiously asked the factory director: ”By the way, are those bugs hard to deal with?”

”What bugs?”

”There are a lot of Insect Race on the Mining Space Station, I remember they were called the Thorn Insect Race, with great adaptability and evolutionary abilities, they can survive even in a vacuum, really freaky, I didn’t dare to mess with them before.”

The factory director recalled briefly and said, ”No, when the company took over the Space Station because of your connection, I went to look into it. The entire Mining Space Station had nothing that could move.”

”There were only worthless organic growths left, but they were already dead.”

”Bugs, there were indeed, but they were all carcasses.

”If you’re sure that there are bugs still alive, could it be possible that the original Star Zone Military had discovered your whereabouts before?”

”Then when they traced back to the Space Station to look for your records, they conveniently cleaned up the bugs there?”

”Were there any signs of fierce battles on the Space Station?”

The factory director couldn’t recall the results this time, so he directly took out a terminal and said, ”Let me check, I happen to have the records on hand.”

The factory director opened the terminal and pulled up the investigation record files that he specially requested earlier.

He found the part about Space Station damage assessment.

After looking for a while, he said, ”Yes, there was, but it was damage from thirty years ago.”

”Many were obviously man-made attacks that damaged the Space Station’s structure, and the Space Station’s self-defense weapons were mostly destroyed by external forces, which also proves that the Space Station’s destruction wasn’t just a bug problem.”

”It should be that military personnel destroyed the Space Station’s ability to resist and then simply left it there, only sealing off the outside to prevent ships within from escaping.”

”And then let the bugs develop on their own inside, hopefully completely covering their tracks.”

”However, we haven’t really found any recent signs of large-scale damage, though there are small ones, both in the dock and living areas, all marks left by deep penetration of projectiles.”

Chen Ming suddenly coughed and said, ”I did that.”

”Oh.”

The factory director quietly noted this matter, planning to send the information later, to prevent the people conducting the field investigations from wasting energy on it, also avoiding any future misunderstandings.

Chen Ming continued with the previous topic and said, ”But there still seems to be a bit of a problem with the lack of large-scale damage, it feels off.”

”Based on my estimation, the entire power area of the Mining Space Station would surely be teeming with bugs, there’s no way the military dealt with them without leaving any trace.”

”But where are the bugs? Can they grow wings and fly? No matter how strong their evolutionary capabilities are, growing wings in space is useless, unless they grow engines on their butt.”

”Maybe, you never know?”

The factory director joked casually, and then recorded what Chen Ming said as well.

”I’ll report this to the people handling matters over there, they are still dealing with Space Station issues recently.”

”The Space Station is beyond saving, but the equipment on it can still be salvaged; the people over there should be able to confirm on-site whether there are bug traces, let’s see what they say.”

”But I think it’s better not to hold any hope, I feel the real truth might have rotted away in the belly of the Star Zone Military.”

”Or you could ask the Fourteenth Legion, you’re on good terms over there now, maybe they have archived records that they can show you?”

”Yes, indeed.”

Chen Ming immediately thought of Bai Quan, and it so happened that he needed to find Bai Quan for some matters later, he could ask then.

Chen Ming had no other issues for the factory director to handle, so after chatting a bit, he got up to say goodbye.

”Then I should be leaving, I still have quite a few things to handle these next couple of days.”

”Alright.”

The factory director unlocked the office and saw Chen Ming off.

Chen Ming was not in a hurry to find Bai Quan now, he still had some of his own things to handle.

For example, he needed to put his money to use.

Chen Ming had quite a lot of money on hand now.

Bai Quan had previously given him two billion, and the company this time gave him three billion.

Plus, after signing those documents earlier, he could acquire another sum, which the factory director estimated to be about five billion.

It wouldn’t normally be so much, but mainly because Chen Ming conveniently gave up some research patent ownership.

These patents are indeed the big ticket items.

Chen Ming had considered relying on patents for a stable income.

But he wouldn’t be staying within the Empire’s borders for long, making it inconvenient for handling such matters continuously.
