Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 480: Chapter 163 Attack_5

”No, I’m not talking about you... Anyway, it’s another backdoor, there’s an internal issue in the Administration.”

The director was a bit incoherent for a moment, but Chen Ming could understand.

”I can tell, the anti-gravity system at the dock has been sabotaged, have you found the mole?”

”Not yet determined.”

Just as Chen Ming was about to ask if there were any suspects, the temperature and oxygen concentration outside the dock shown on the Supreme Point’s sensors suddenly began to drop rapidly.

It wasn’t a drop caused by an atmospheric leak, but rather by the life-support system shutting down.

The life-support system isn’t located here; the only possibility for such a situation is an issue with the power supply.

Chen Ming immediately asked, ”Can the Space Station’s power system ensure supply?”

The director, very familiar with the Space Station’s situation, said, ”Yes, the Space Station’s power generation equipment is evenly distributed across different space arms.”

”There’s also a considerable amount of solar panels outside the Space Station providing power.”

”Even if all the power generation zones on the Space Station were to go down, the solar panels could still support us for a while.”

”However, some civil equipment and facilities in the space arms must be turned off to ensure the life-support system in the central city can be maintained.”

The director’s words made Chen Ming realize something, the other power generation zones on the Space Station had already been sabotaged, only the external solar panels were still providing power.

Otherwise, how could the life-support system in a place like the dock be shut down?

Chen Ming could dispatch a robot equipped with a Dusk Core to one of the power generation zones on the Space Station.

He didn’t need to protect the Space Station, but he had to protect the people he knew.

A few seconds after dispatching the robot, Chen Ming suddenly asked, ”Have you seen the director? I mean the current director.”

”Not sure, he hasn’t been seen since just now.”

”Then he’s the mole.”

Just now, Chen Ming successfully found some erased traces in the database on the dock side.

And that deleted record—the director’s special approval—didn’t require inspection for a particular cargo ship.

A single record of a ship doesn’t mean much.

But this record wasn’t deleted through proper permissions; it was done using the director’s permissions and some special methods.

Moreover, the more ridiculous thing is that Chen Ming discovered dozens of similar records that were hidden.

The timing all concentrated in the past two or three days.

Chen Ming felt there was no need to say anything more.

It’s already quite obvious.

The director wanted to delete the records of these cargo ships docking, and then someone manually deleted them from the database.

The person who deleted the records easily entered the Administration’s network with the director’s help, obtained permissions, deleted those dozens of problematic records, and then left a backdoor inside.

No one with sufficient authority managed to resolve these issues with the record reports.

These records just disappeared so simply, without anyone managing them.

Chen Ming was really about to lose his patience.

It seemed like someone within the Administration was just a freeloader.

Even if there was an existing backdoor, how could dozens of important records get deleted without being detected?

Chen Ming saved his findings and directly sent them to the director’s side, saying, ”Show it to the network management department, they’ll understand.”

The director didn’t immediately do as Chen Ming suggested, instead saying, ”It seems the internal network of the Administration has also been infiltrated, and none of us understands these things, we can only wait here.”

Chen Ming couldn’t help but mentally criticize the Administration’s network security department again, then said to the director, ”Wait a moment.”

He hacked into the internal network of the Administration again, intending to help them regain network control.

While doing so, Chen Ming asked the director again, ”What does the boss say?”

”Old Wu said to wait a bit more, and he’ll take action when we utterly fail to handle it.”

”Hmm...”

Chen Ming felt slightly reassured, at least having the boss around gave him some confidence.

Soon, Chen Ming reopened the permissions to the Administration, saying, ”Alright, done. I’ve helped you reclaim the network permissions.”

Not only were permissions regained, but he also understood why the internal permissions situation occurred.

”This is obviously military hacking technology, the Administration’s network security needs strengthening, no wonder your people couldn’t regain permissions.”

How could the Space Station Administration’s people compete with military technology, especially with backdoors left through the director’s permissions?

It’s like the guards tirelessly blocking intruders, only to turn around and find the house they were protecting had been moved entirely outside the fence.

Wide open, completely unguarded.

Though currently, the main power of the Space Station still lies with the deputy director.

But a Space Station Administration director has some level of authority.

Being a mole, it’s already quite fortunate the Space Station hasn’t been directly handed over.

”You understand military technology?”

”Yes, a little, I’m a bit busy here, let’s talk later.”

Chen Ming directly hung up the call with the director.

And once again launched a robot equipped with a Gamma Core.

This robot’s destination was near the location Chen Ming had just pinpointed for the hacker.

Chen Ming currently only mastered some military hacking technology, so he couldn’t precisely locate the hacker.

However, general positioning was manageable; it’s better to send a robot to search than do nothing.
