Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 482: Chapter 164 Steel Giant

Facing the concentrated fire of the Zuo Jing fleet.

The Brilliant’s plasma burst propulsion instantly activated, shifting laterally in the blink of an eye.

Only a thick, long laser and several storm needles’ emitted long needles skimmed the edge of the shield.

This minor growth in radiation energy isn’t even a fraction of the total radiation energy possessed by Brilliant.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Point doesn’t have the mobility of the Brilliant class, unable to dodge all attacks, merely absorbing about half of the concentrated fire damage.

Fortunately, Chen Ming had activated the shield early when he was in the dock.

The attacks from ships of the same level, as long as they don’t instantly overload Supreme Point’s radiation energy value exceeding twenty thousand, even higher than Brilliant’s, he can recover.

Moreover, during the hit, Chen Ming discovered that the shield effect of Supreme Point is strong; besides having a higher maximum radiation capacity, its radiation growth speed during attacks is slower than that of Brilliant.

Spaceship shields have a concept known as shield efficiency or shield strength.

When a shield is attacked, it converts damage into radiation energy.

Shield efficiency adjusts this conversion efficiency.

The better the shield, the slower the radiation energy growth under the same attack, essentially absorbing more damage for the ship’s grid.

Generally, this leads to increased energy consumption of the ship, so shield designers must find a balance.

But the shield of Supreme Point is different.

Despite having shield efficiency exceeding other cruiser levels, it can maintain the same level of energy consumption with less radiation growth while the shield bears the same damage.

This exploration ship’s shield is evidently very special.

Besides the main ship, Chen Ming didn’t know any ship with a stronger shield than this.

The psychic from Speed Particle Technology appears to be quite capable technically.

Such a person, being unappreciated within Speed Particle Technology, probably offended someone.

An unrelated thought quickly flashed through Chen Ming’s mind, then he immediately refocused; now was not the time for idle thoughts.

At least in the first encounter with the Zuo Jing fleet, he could say he was unharmed.

And due to the effect of Chen Ming’s spiritual power, he could ignore the limitations of radiation dissipation, forcibly dispersing the hard radiation normally un-dissipable while the shield remained active.

In other words, just like all the ship battles Chen Ming had experienced before, as long as his spiritual power held up, it was unscathed and undamaged.

Although Chen Ming’s frontal strength vastly differed from that of the Zuo Jing fleet.

He wasn’t without support; behind him was the Pirate Space Station.

No, it should be said ahead of him.

After that round of concentrated fire from the Zuo Jing fleet.

Chen Ming promptly controlled Supreme Point to sweep a round towards the direction of the opposing small ships.

Immediately, he hid behind the space station he just flew out from.

Chen Ming also had the help of the Space Station.

The Space Station had strengthened its security after the previous Dusk raid.

Now, facing an external fleet attack, especially from the Zuo Jing fleet, they would surely step in to help.

Even if the company had no plan to reconcile with Chen Ming, they had to assist.

Not to mention Chen Ming just helped them regain network control.

Although the Space Station currently didn’t have its own cruiser level ships, it still had regular ships available.

Even if the dock was just damaged, the Space Station’s patrol team used their own dock.

This thought just flashed through Chen Ming’s mind.

The sensors immediately reported an explosion inside the patrol team’s dock.

”...”

Chen Ming was briefly silent, noticing that aside from the explosion, there seemed to be no further disturbances from the patrol team’s dock.

It looked like they weren’t encountering major trouble.

The patrol team quickly managed the situation.

And promptly dispatched about thirty destroyers and over a hundred guards to support Chen Ming.

Chen Ming quickly established communication links with this fleet from the Space Station.

Chen Ming didn’t know the fleet commander, but apparently, he participated and survived the last Dusk raid.

With these ships, they could indeed help Chen Ming alleviate some pressure.

Additionally, besides serving as cover for Chen Ming’s two cruisers, the Space Station itself is a massive cruiser-level fortress in terms of output capability.

Its size, along with the quantity of large weapons matching its size, inherently decides this.

Such a gigantic fortress, aside from being immobile, has nearly no drawbacks.

Of course, immobility itself is a significant drawback.

At this moment, the fleet commander suddenly asked Chen Ming, ”Mr. Chen Ming, do you need us to follow your command?”

Issuing commands to control ships he didn’t manage directly was obviously reckless for Chen Ming, who had no command experience or skills.

Yet he didn’t outright refuse but said, ”Yes, I need you to manage the Space Station well, prevent small ships from approaching to disperse firepower, and protect the Space Station.”

Chen Ming still needed the Space Station’s cover, and also needed the people on the Space Station to survive.

Though if the Space Station was damaged to a certain extent, the boss might take action.

But Chen Ming still wished to avoid such a scenario.

Bai Quan, who had been watching, chimed in at this point, ”Protecting strategic targets on the battlefield is usually the top priority task. As long as you can protect the Space Station, you will have a capital for frontal engagement.”
