Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 437: Chapter 153: Evacuation_2

The left forearm, already damaged from previous impacts, completely broke off in this attack.

The New Star Level suffered more severe damage compared to the Offensive Level ship that had previously borne the brunt of the battle line pressure.

But no matter what, the New Star Level is still a Main Ship.

By relying on its armor to withstand a wave of concentrated firepower, it indeed sustained significant damage, but at least it wasn’t completely destroyed.

However, its problems remain unresolved.

It takes time for the shield of a Main Level ship to open and fully deploy, and it also takes time to adjust the all-angle shield’s direction.

This means that before the second wave of concentrated firepower, which could destroy it, arrives, its shield has no time to deploy or adjust to its designated position.

Furthermore, switching off the shield and turning it on in a new location also takes considerable time, and frequent toggling might cause more issues.

Moreover, the Alpha Level Dusk on the New Star Level at this moment is uncertain.

Chen Ming might have modified the shield to open in the opposite direction of the original shield deployment, or it could open randomly.

If it shuts the shield planning to open it in the opposite direction, but it randomly appears in a new direction, that would be disastrous.

At this time, the New Star Level’s shield isn’t fully deployed, and other Main Ships cannot conjure a Cooperative Shield from nowhere without the original shield.

So the choice left for the Alpha Level Dusk is to adjust the ship’s orientation itself.

To thus change the orientation of the expanding shield.

Meanwhile, other Dusk Ships in the Dusk Fleet rushed frantically to help the New Star Level absorb some damage, buying time for it to adjust its position.

Other ships, at least at cruiser level, physically blocked the line of fire, indeed earning the New Star Level a bit of time.

But at such a critical juncture, any minor issue could lead to disaster.

Just when the New Star Level flew out of the massive shipyard exit,

it was subjected to a surge of gravitational force, causing its right rear to slam into the massive shipyard exit.

The engine was damaged.

And now, as the New Star Level attempts an emergency turn, the right rear engine suddenly failed.

The internal maintenance system couldn’t repair such significant damage within mere seconds.

The turn speed was limited to such a low level that it couldn’t possibly adjust the ship’s position in time.

However, Chen Ming, observing the situation, felt nothing particularly special.

Because just seconds ago, he saw that when the New Star Level’s engines were functioning, it could change posture fast enough to confirm something.

Even if it hadn’t hit anything leaving the shipyard, and the engine remained intact.

It still wouldn’t have adjusted in time before the Fourteenth Legion’s second wave of concentrated fire.

At most, it could use the partially deployed shield to block only about a third of the firepower.

But the remaining two-thirds would still be sufficient to utterly destroy it.

The New Star Level isn’t an Offensive; trying to endure the second wave of concentrated firepower with its already damaged armor would only lead to one outcome.

Nearing by, several cruisers that rushed to shield have already been destroyed under the concentrated firepower of the Fourteenth Legion Fleet, leaving no other ship to further share the damage with the New Star Level.

And the root cause of this situation, forcing the New Star Level to move to the front line immediately upon emergence,

was due to the other two Radiation Levels executing a short-range blink under Bai Quan’s direct command just seconds ago.

They don’t have time to blink back and help the New Star now.

Outside the fleet, they could only watch as the Fourteenth Legion Fleet circumvented them and concentrated fire on the unprotected New Star Level.

As the Grand Commander of the Fourteenth Legion, Bai Quan finally, at this moment, fully understood the meaning behind Chen Ming’s earlier words.

He also witnessed how their Fourteenth Legion Fleet’s bombardment completely engulfed the relatively fragile New Star Level, which was more akin to a battle cruiser.

Turning it into a vividly burning nova in space.

With the New Star destroyed, much of the massive shipyard was also paralyzed at this point.

The target in need of protection was gone, and the two Radiation Levels close to the Fourteenth Legion battle line seemed enraged, desperately suppressing Bai Quan, trying to trap his fleet.

But Bai Quan, with his many years of experience fighting against the Dusk, knew exactly how to retreat safely from their grasp.

Even with two Radiations closing in recklessly, he could still smoothly adjust the fleet’s battle line conditions.

Condensing the formation, ready to retreat at any moment.

Yet, he has not done so yet; he is still waiting for an opportunity.

Inside the massive shipyard at this moment.

The Special Operations Team is running within areas not controlled by Chen Ming.

Having lost the two core Alpha Level Dusks, the remaining Dusk in the massive shipyard has fallen into disarray.

They don’t know what they should do and can only act manually, work with various kinds of robots in each shipyard, and protect their controlled modules.

So, the Special Operations Team has started encountering some roaming robots here and there.

But they had smoothly completed most of their tasks beforehand, without even using the weapons they brought along.
