Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 401: Chapter 144 Escape_3

At this moment, he was standing in front of the open hatch of the Water Buffalo, suddenly looking up at the sky.

Although invisible to the naked eye, Chen Ming knew that high officials of the Dusk were now observing him through satellites.

Additionally, he saw the points of light in space turning from dark to bright, and continuing to intensify.

These were the satellite weapons in orbital paths, turning to target the surface of the planet.

Chen Ming’s heart had no trace of panic.

Because in the very next moment, a warp fluctuation appeared above his head.

A massive thousand-meter-class ship materialized out of thin air.

The Brilliant-level unmanned cruiser had arrived at the planet’s surface.

Using itself to protect the research facility and Chen Ming under its body.

Its shield expanded with it, covering almost the entire sky above Chen Ming, while the satellite weapons in space gradually ceased firing.

Only one or two satellite weapons couldn’t possibly penetrate the shield of a well-maintained cruiser.

And all the ships approaching Chen Ming had halted their movements.

Once the Brilliant arrived with its Brilliant-level cruiser, everything became clear.

The full picture of the matter had been revealed before the entire Dusk.

Without a cruiser to support them, approaching recklessly would only add to the ship wreckage.

They couldn’t even serve as a blockade.

Chen Ming calmly boarded the Water Buffalo.

He reached the spacious cargo hold of the Water Buffalo, which, besides housing those frozen survival capsules, had plenty of space.

So, Chen Ming casually moved all the valuable or useful research and work equipment from the facility into the Water Buffalo’s cargo hold.

It was about time, as Chen Ming already sensed via the Brilliant’s sensors that cruiser-level ships were appearing within the star system.

It was time to leave.

The Water Buffalo’s engine started, maintaining a close distance with the Brilliant.

Amid the warp engine’s trademark blurring and flickering resonance, Chen Ming disappeared from the planet’s surface.

Next came the final stage of the plan.

Chen Ming knew that the most critical part was just beginning.

He perked up.

In front of the Water Buffalo was his warp destination, a star system on the border between the Dusk and the Mechanical Race.

There was already a newly assembled fleet waiting here, ready for combat at any moment.

As for the combat target, it could only be the Dusk itself.

Chen Ming didn’t stay long; he just glanced at the fleet and completed the Brilliant’s warp engine repair.

He then initiated the second warp.

For the second warp, Chen Ming also chose a fairly close position, right within the Dusk’s star realm.

It was even within the star system managed by the Brilliant before, under Chen Ming’s control.

The Brilliant didn’t oppose Chen Ming’s request, just executed it normally and arrived here.

The entire star system appeared empty now.

Although the Dusk had been suspicious before, they weren’t at the stage of launching a large-scale investigation. Even though Chen Ming actively rebelled, they couldn’t react that quickly.

The Brilliant randomly destroyed a few ships that entered its weapon range while waiting for Chen Ming to finish its warp engine repair.

Then it immediately warped away once more.

Although what Chen Ming did seemed meaningless,

he had disrupted the traces left by the previous warp jumps of the cruiser controlled by the Brilliant in the star system and the traces left by his jumps.

No one, not even the Dusk, could trace the fleet’s whereabouts through the warp engine marks left here anymore.

Thus, Chen Ming chose the star system of the Energy Crystal Crab as the target for his third warp.

Upon arrival, there weren’t even any investigation ships present.

Chen Ming easily repeated his previous operations.

Arrive, repair, warp away.

Completely muddle the traces left by the Radiant.

For the fourth warp, Chen Ming then returned to the edge of the border star system.

He couldn’t just charge in headlong.

And just as he imagined, a battle was breaking out inside the star system.

It’s not accurate to call it a battle, because the Dusk had deployed Radiation-level unmanned battleships to unilaterally slaughter the fleet stationed here, blocking the pursuing Dusk fleet tracking Chen Ming.

All the ships in space had no chance to struggle against the main ships, relying only on the heavy defense arrays on the planetary surface to barely hold against the Radiation level.

Chen Ming didn’t expect the Dusk to mobilize a main ship so quickly, which suggests they were angry, and very much so.

Fortunately, the fleet here hadn’t noticed the Brilliant suddenly appearing outside the star system.

Even if they noticed, they couldn’t come in time.

Before entering the range of those ships, Chen Ming could initiate the next warp.

However, Chen Ming knew that the Dusk tracking him wasn’t done by this fighting fleet here.

This fleet was only for suppression.

The fleet truly tracking him should be just being drawn into the inner star realm.

Chen Ming had covered the traces of the Brilliant and Radiant, but his traces were still there, which gave the Dusk a chance to track him.

The tracking troops should be coming over soon.

They didn’t have the ability to quickly repair to allow the warp engine to cool quickly, only using cruisers to jump ahead on their own for scouting.

Finding Chen Ming’s traces, sending back news, dispatching the next ship, and continuing the pursuit.

Until they find Chen Ming.
