I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan did not dig into it before nor did he secretly investigate. He just felt that Doctor Wei wasn’t an ordinary person, and he could tell from the book Wei Jing gave him.

Others might not be able to discern anything from that illustration, but Wen Yan had traveled a rugged path, and with Zhang Xuewen’s near-death experience, relying on monthly recovery, endured what would have killed normal people thousands of times to obtain even a slight possibility.

He was most aware of the book’s true value.

Plus, with Old Meng’s old friend coming to ask Wei Jing for a diagnosis, Wei Jing calmly provided a conclusion. Wen Yan could even sense that Wei Jing held back some details, only giving the conclusion.

After several events, Wen Yan understood that, at least for special circumstances, Wei Jing’s medical skills were indeed high.

This time, Wei Jing, treating a normal patient, quickly gave what seemed a very regular conclusion.

But Wen Yan couldn’t fathom why it was parasites?

Parasites? That little girl had the power of the Heavenly Demon attached to her, was it a Heavenly Demon parasitizing?

It made no sense, for if there were a Heavenly Demon parasitizing, Wen Yan himself couldn’t have failed to notice it, considering he carried the title of Heavenly Demon Adversary.

Was it Poisonous Insects?

That shouldn’t be the case, considering the little girl was the family of a Scorching Sun Department merit holder.

Her father had once been a Field Agent, got injured, then transitioned to Internal Staff, so their welfare level covered the children.

They never had to worry about medical expenses.

And the little girl’s situation, during examinations at Scorching Sun Department’s hospitals, included Poisonous Insects checks in the basic inspection.

These relevant data had been studied extensively by major figures in the southwest years ago.

When Spiritual Qi Resurgence was still low, Poisonous Insects were considered pretty high-grade.

Moreover, being near the border, it was always a critical focus, how could it be overlooked.

Now, in the Scorching Sun Department, even Corpse Poison Antiserum exists; treatments for Poisonous Insects are plentiful, and testing methods and costs have been tightened enough that they are mixed into a routine physical check.

Even some medicines for expelling Poisonous Insects have been merged into general anti-parasite medicines, widely available in many large hospitals.

Originally, Poisonous Insect related items faced potentially severe crackdowns due to several actual cases of derelicts.

But in Caiyun County, a few seniors stepped up first, cooperating with the Scorching Sun Department to clean house, and later actively collaborated on related items.

Nowadays, in that section of border defense, besides human patrols, cameras, drones, there’s also a segment dedicated to insects, alerting against outside Different Races.

For instance, some demons, before becoming demons, originally lived in border regions. They were sort of exploiting a loophole, crossing borders between forests as if moving from one mountain to another mountain plainly.

In such situations, proper checks and measures have been done, excluding Poisonous Insects a long time ago, right?

Wen Yan’s thoughts raced, seeing the little girl also present with a confused look; he chose not to speak.

Wei Jing didn’t answer Wen Yan’s question directly; instead, he again checked the little girl’s various indicators, from tongue coating to eyelids, even using a stethoscope.

After finishing, he spoke unhurriedly.

”Pale-faced without color, frail body, poor appetite, dizzy and easily sleepy, plus chaotic weak pulse, insufficient Qi and blood.

Even though she knows she’s seriously ill, she shows no fear, remaining indifferent, this is not typical human behavior.

For someone her age, like a morning sun, understanding oneself is one thing, but natural instincts are another.”

Saying this, Wei Jing glanced at Wen Yan, then the little girl, changing his explanation.

”For example, when a person sleeps, sometimes they twitch, which is beyond your voluntary control.

This is a natural body’s reaction.

But now even such instinct is being suppressed.

With current terminology, you can roughly understand it as something affecting her hormone secretion.

Even when facing life-threatening situations, her body wouldn’t instinctively produce a large amount of adrenaline anymore.

This is abnormal and entirely unexpected.

At least, for a morning sun-like young girl, it’s inappropriate.”

Wei Jing glanced at the tranquil little girl, noticing she didn’t fully believe his words.

He surmised that this little girl had suffered much misfortune, having visited many big hospitals.

”I still lack a few medicinal ingredients here, not commonly used materials. I am going out for a while.

Fast, three days; slow, seven days; I will definitely return.”

”Want something? I know some people, can help you find it.”

”I need to personally see it, taste it, to confirm the medicinal properties. Some drugs require freshly concocted use, not to be stored, to capture the swift essence.”

Wei Jing pondered, wrote down several names, and took out an ancient book with illustrations, telling Wen Yan to take photos, combining names with diagrams and descriptions of medicinal properties, from picking to preparation methods, storage methods, very comprehensive.

This way, errors can be avoided.

”These few medicines, help find them; the rest, I will collect personally.”

”Okay.” Wen Yan agreed without further questioning.

He promptly sent it to Feng Yao, and then did not need to bother with it. The Scorching Sun Department is far more professional at handling these things.

Wen Yan took the little girl home, arranged for her to stay next door.
