I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan was momentarily stunned upon hearing Old Meng’s words.

”For something like this, they would try to trick you and snatch what’s in your hands.

It’s so precious, so why would they still want to circulate it?

This gold nugget was acquired from a little demon.”

Old Meng sighed, hesitated for a moment, but still spoke.

”This is gold, whether in the past or now, it’s often used as money directly, an absolute hard currency.

Since it’s money, naturally, it has to circulate; money that doesn’t circulate is merely pure gold.

The fastest way to foster the power within it is circulation in the hands of different people, different species.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Yan realized that his question lacked depth.

When used as money, he had seen early on that the standard uniforms of the Scorching Sun Department, costing dozens of thousands, were truly valuable because they were lined entirely with cash.

And no shortcuts could be taken; even missing a single note would be noticeable to anyone.

This is the most crucial standard protective gear for field agents; most of the time, when encountering Ghosts or other different races, this uniform alone provides protection, thanks to the power inherent in that cash.

But currently, it seems the power in cash is indeed different from that in gold, although essentially, they should be similar.

Old Meng always used gold bars for transactions, all coming and going, and he said that some of his gold bars also contain the same power found in gold nuggets.

Wen Yan suddenly understood; asking such a question somewhat seemed like probing into someone’s professional secrets.

It’s just that he had frequent dealings with Old Meng, knowing he didn’t mean it that way.

For others, it might easily become a cause for offense.

Old Meng looked at Wen Yan’s expression, sighed inwardly, and thought, forget it; Wen Yan didn’t even know about customs, how could he unravel more complicated issues.

Since it involves Fateless Pawnshop, and they had set their sights on him, now they found not only some business intersection between them, but also a core intersection.

In the future, when Fateless Pawnshop gets exposed, he too would get implicated.

Rather than keeping this core secret, it might be better to directly expose it, to unveil the foundation of Fateless Pawnshop first.

”I trade with big and small yellow fish, aside from a small portion of information, the rest are tangible goods; I value quality over quantity.

A top-notch item, after trading, the strength brought by this process far exceeds the results from trading low-grade goods for a year.

Information is merely like a first gamble, used for expanding clientele.

But from information I’ve obtained so far, Fateless Pawnshop is pursuing a path of expansion.

These money-making people, once they reach a certain scale, start shifting from tangible to intangible.

Just doing business honestly can’t compare with market manipulation, with the profits from causing market turbulence.”

”Uh, isn’t it about tangible goods? How did it start involving finance?” Wen Yan truly didn’t understand these.

”So, people from the pawnshop cooperated with the major local families in Nanyang.

Coupled with the resurgence of spiritual energy, there’s a trend of acceleration in the past two years, gold prices were already rising.

They seized the opportunity to stir things up, many ordinary people in Nanyang would take advantage of this wave to buy some gold or sell gold.

With slight policy restrictions, they can ensure most gold circulates within the scope of their control.

Whether selling or buying, it’s considered circulation.

With circulation, regardless of how low the fostering power or poor the quality embedded in that gold,

As long as the quantity is large, the total will far exceed the few levels someone like me doing solo runs.

Once the quantity reaches a certain level, qualitative change would inevitably occur.

As for transaction volume, there’s no need to worry; gold prices vary worldwide.

As long as there is continuous rise for a month, then slightly dropping for two days in succession, many retail investors would find it hard to hold on.

They truly want tangible goods, so in fact, retail investors are the priority.

As long as there is fluctuation, they can keep reaping in this market.

Gold is just the core element; through these means, they can continue to make money.

With money made, it becomes larger, allowing more investment in core parts.

The core interests pawnshops seek don’t conflict with those of their collaborators.

They can even relinquish many interests that ordinary people care about.

How they specifically operate is very complex; even I can’t figure it out in a short time.

But overall, this aligns with the general direction, it won’t go wrong.”

Wen Yan saw Old Meng didn’t seem to conceal anything intentionally, so he relaxed.

”They play so big, target you precisely for the high-quality gold bars you have in stock, right?”

”Yes, unlike them, I only value quality, especially high-quality transactions, which are a necessity.

The gold bar is just a carrier.

They play so big, causing a stir in Nanyang probably because qualitative change is challenging to achieve.

They need some high-quality gold as the crucial catalyst.

What they seek isn’t just one or two Big Yellow Fish imbued with power.

I absolutely cannot agree to such transactions; agreeing would mean giving away all my years of accumulation.

Their only way to get these items is to set up an opportunity, forcing me to go to Nanyang.

Only in Nanyang might they have one chance, possibly succeeding.

Yet, I am unsure how they plan to take my inheritance.”
