I Am Your Natural Enemy

The Minister of Central Plains County hasn’t interacted much with Wen Yan, but he’s heard a lot about Wen Yan.

Now, seeing Wen Yan with such a serious face, looking puzzled, he finally understands why there are rumors that Wen Yan dared to scold even Cai Heizi, leaving Cai Heizi speechless.

The Central Plains County Minister’s eyes flicker with a bit of confusion as he looks towards the few small hills that were just blown up in the distance. He’s quite at a loss now.

Such a large amount of earth and stone, this isn’t called a sea burial.

This is called land reclamation.

The straight-line distance from here to the nearest coastline is six or seven hundred kilometers, and by road, it’s at least seven or eight hundred kilometers.

Moreover, the nearest coastline may not be suitable for dumping these things casually.

Not to mention such large things, even ashes, according to regulations, can only be scattered in certain sea areas.

But seeing Wen Yan asking seriously, the Central Plains County Minister thought about it and also felt that Wen Yan made a valid point.

It is indeed the safest option.

Blowing up this mountain and transporting everything to the sea is indeed the most thorough and foolproof method.

According to all the data stored in the Scorching Sun Department from ancient times to the present, and results from real experiments over the years, the land and sea in the mysterious domain are distinctly divided, with clear boundaries.

The Scorching Sun Department dealt with a typical case before, involving a couple of ghosts who died by the seaside more than thirty years ago.

One was burned to death on the beach, the other drowned in the sea. Just a dozen meters, or even a few meters apart, their resentment lingered, and their strong obsession turned them into ghosts, yet they still couldn’t see or sense each other.

Then, ten years ago, a Taoist priest from Qingcheng, while traveling down the mountain, passed by and discovered this. At that time, they were only a few meters apart.

Determined that these two ghosts had strong obsessions, their greatest desire was to see each other; only then would they seek revenge on their enemy.

The enemy had already been confirmed to have died of cancer ten years ago, never dared to go to a major hospital due to fear of blood tests and identification revealing his connection to past crimes.

The Taoist priest from Qingcheng thought to transcend these two ghosts or let them meet to resolve their obsession. Unfortunately, he tried many methods, all to no avail.

Finally, waited until Qixi Festival. After communicating with people from the Scorching Sun Department to confirm no danger, he invited some elementary school students to act as magpies to build a bridge for them, allowing them to meet and resolve their obsession, and they finally vanished hand in hand.

This event inexplicably developed into a local cultural practice.

Because a student who helped build the bridge later survived a car accident amid front and back collisions, the vehicle was reduced by half its length. Among four people, three died on the spot, but only that elementary student was unharmed except for being frightened.

This matter was spread like a legend, and the key point was that the Scorching Sun Department also confirmed with the Taoist priest from Qingcheng that when the couple disappeared, they expressed gratitude to the students for building the bridge and transformed their power, obsession, soul body, and everything into blessings.

The new tradition emerged spontaneously among locals, going to the seaside to build bridges every Qixi Festival.

Later discovered that this incident indeed had positive implications, everything was developing in a good direction, so only the local Scorching Sun Department paid attention annually without deliberately stopping it.

Of course, the most typical factor in this event still concerned the clear boundaries between land and sea.

The soul body adhered to this; a mountain, a typical and indisputable entity belonging to the land, if thrown into the sea, is indeed that in a literal sense doomed never to transcend.

Especially considering the current global warming environment causing rising sea levels...

Wen Yan watched as the Central Plains County Minister remained silent for a long time, feeling somewhat regretful.

It figures, shipping via waterways isn’t appropriate or safe, so land transport it must be.

The transport cost might skyrocket.

”How about we excavate the core parts inside or deep parts and throw those into the sea?

The remaining parts, if appropriate, can be used to pave roads.

Would that be okay?”

The Central Plains County Minister took a deep breath, well, that’s ruthless indeed.

He was still mulling over the feasibility of land reclamation as this isn’t a task for their Central Plains County alone, so he indeed didn’t have to worry about funding.

Before he could figure that out, Wen Yan added more.

This is akin to dismemberment, separately suppressing the land and sea.

This is harsher than directly reclaiming land with the sea.

Alright then, now even if the planet explodes, this mountain won’t have any hope for rebirth.

However, this proposal indeed saved quite a bit of money.

The road paving material could be sold to recoup costs.

Since they have a priority task, paving the road isn’t just for paving, hence, they can obtain some funding.

Perfect.

”Alright, let’s do it.” The Central Plains County Minister immediately agreed and started making phone calls and arranging tasks hastily.

Just as he finished assigning tasks and having people prepare and plan the preliminary stages, Wen Yan approached again.

”Anything else on your mind?”

”Speaking of road paving, shouldn’t it be in high-traffic areas, ideally at intersections?”

”...” The Central Plains County Minister sighed, ”Rest assured, this is a very high-priority task.”
