I Am Your Natural Enemy

”I’ll only ask this once. If you don’t understand and keep being stupid, just hang up the phone.”

On the other end of the line, a skinny man with a pointed nose and a monkey-like face panicked upon hearing this.

”No, don’t, Wan Jun, let’s talk this over properly.

I overheard it at the Cat’s Claw Bar.

I’m not sure if it’s true or not. As soon as I heard about it, I quickly called you.”

”Overheard?” Zhuge Wanjun sneered, unable to hold back a curse.

”People always say ’clever as a monkey,’ but you’re just a damn idiot!

What kind of place do you think the Cat’s Claw Bar is?

A bar for different races!

And a creepy place like that, how could a little demon like you, with no hearing ability, just happen to overhear something?

Why don’t you just accidentally die from stupidity!”

”Wan Jun, save me!” The little demon was so scared upon hearing this that he started trembling uncontrollably, finally realizing that someone had deliberately told him, knowing that he knew Zhuge Wanjun and would definitely inform her.

”Save you, my ass! There’s half a million right in front of you, and you wouldn’t take it. Might as well die of stupidity!”

With a loud snap, Zhuge Wanjun hung up the phone.

Listening to the busy tone on the phone, the little demon was so frightened that he reverted to his original form, turning into a furry monkey with the tip of his tail poking out from a pant leg.

He quickly called back, and after a long ring, it finally connected.

”Wan Jun, I’m going to the Scorching Sun Department right now!”

”Humph, do whatever you want.”

The little demon calmed down, the hair on his face slowly receding, and he rushed downstairs, driving straight to the Yu State Scorching Sun Department.

On the way, he called the Scorching Sun Department.

”Government, I want to report fifty grand!”

All the way to the Scorching Sun Department, someone immediately took the little demon to an interrogation room.

The Scorching Sun Department did nothing throughout but listened to a little demon who unexpectedly heard some news and took the initiative to report it to them.

At most, they could say it reflected good public awareness.

That night, the Cat’s Claw Bar was shut down, and two beings of different races were taken to the Scorching Sun Department.

...

Meanwhile, Wen Yan was quite leisurely, merely waiting quietly.

In the evening, while taking Sparrow Cat out for a walk to help it lose weight, he passed by Wei’s Medical Hall and waved a distant hello to the busy Wei Jing inside.

On his way back, seeing that Wei Jing had already sent off the last patient, he thought of the book Wei Jing had given him, and a sudden notion popped into his mind.

He walked forward, looking at Wei Jing who just sat down to rest.

”Finished with your work?”

”Finished.”

”I have a patient I want you to take a look at, not sure if it’s appropriate.”

”I wouldn’t know before seeing him. What symptoms?”

”He’s been comatose and hasn’t woken up. He’s an old friend of a friend, entrusted to my care. I’m worried he might starve or thirst to death, and it’s not convenient to take him to the hospital.”

”Any other symptoms?”

”No, been in a coma for several days now.”

”Can you bring him here for me to see?”

”Can you do a house call? Just at my place.”

”Not very convenient, I have more scheduled patients coming in a bit, can you bring him over?”

”Alright, wait a moment, I’ll go now.”

Wen Yan turned and left. Wei Jing watched Wen Yan’s back, glancing towards Wen Yan’s house direction, sensing the changes in the energy there, sighed quietly.

Did Wen Yan sense something?

After waiting a moment, Wen Yan came to the medical hall with an unconscious Mole Cricket, accompanied by a listless-looking four-eyed Mole Cricket with its tail wagging like a propeller.

”Can you take a look?”

”...” Wei Jing looked strangely at the Mole Cricket Wen Yan brought: ”This dog?”

”Yeah, it’s been comatose, and it’s not really convenient for me to take it to the hospital. Can you help take a look?”

Wei Jing looked at Wen Yan. Wen Yan looked so natural, as if bringing a Mole Cricket to a medical hall was nothing out of the ordinary.

Wei Jing didn’t say much more. He now confirmed it must be the book that had issues.

”Put it down, let me see.”

Wei Jing bent over, reached out, and touched the Mole Cricket’s neck, his eyes subtly changing.

At that moment, he saw many outward manifestations on the Mole Cricket.

From Mole Cricket to a pet dog, then to a camel, then to a fire dragon, a black pig, a steed, and so on.

After a moment, Wei Jing basically confirmed what this Mole Cricket had encountered and knew how to heal it.

He just hadn’t figured out how to say it. After a slight hesitation, he decided to share his assessment.

”It’s already been treated, nothing major, it should wake up after half a month of sleep.”

”Great, thank you.” Wen Yan breathed a sigh of relief: ”This was entrusted to me by a friend to take care of; I was really worried it might die on me, so as long as there are no issues.”

Wen Yan tried to pay the consultation fee, but Wei Jing refused, so Wen Yan treated Wei Jing to some fried chicken.

Neither broke the pretense that it’s odd for an ordinary dog not to eat or drink and sleep straight through half a month and still survive.

Wen Yan indeed didn’t care much about who Wei Jing was; he truly was just there for a medical examination.

He still couldn’t fully trust the opinion of someone like Sparrow Cat, who couldn’t even be considered a barefoot doctor.

Wen Yan left with the Mole Cricket, while Wei Jing stayed in the medical hall, smiling faintly as he ate the fried chicken.

He thought he might have been overthinking it.

For a moment, he even thought Wen Yan was testing him.

But judging by Wen Yan’s appearance, it seemed he just suddenly remembered something upon seeing him and wanted to give it a try to confirm.

In this era, having a strange doctor living next door isn’t that peculiar.

After all, there are plenty of odd folks in Virtue City itself.

As Wei Jing tasted the familiar flavor of the fried chicken, he realized the fried goods shop owner had returned.

Holding a drumstick, he glanced toward Wen Yan’s house, ignoring the complex energies there, he saw massive Yin and corpse energies hidden.

”This guy really knows how to get into trouble, even managing to find something like this...”

Returning to the second floor, Wei Jing took out an ancient painting, featuring a woman.

He took out a couple of moon blocks, clasped his hands together, and asked.

”Can you give any advice? Should I move again?”

He threw the moon blocks, and the first one turned up as a yin block.

Wei Jing raised his head with a look of amazement.

”This is the first yin block I’ve thrown in fifty years, isn’t it?”
