I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan brought Tong Si along to have a look, and not long after, they found Old Master Wang in a hollow in the deep mountains.

Wen Yan walked nearby, observing the circle of traps on the ground, intentionally triggering one to make some noise.

By the time he slowly approached, Old Master Wang had already emerged from the hollow, cautiously watching Wen Yan who was coming from the darkness of the woods.

”Who?”

Wen Yan stepped forward, having understood Old Master Wang’s temperament, got straight to the point and recounted the events from their previous encounter.

Old Master Wang’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, then he turned on the flashlight, illuminating Wen Yan’s body.

”Old Master, you should be able to tell that I shouldn’t be meeting you, right? That’s your exact words.”

Old Master Wang stared at Wen Yan, remained silent for quite a while, until he realized that Wen Yan had said everything he was about to say. After verifying personally that it was indeed the case, he trusted his own judgment.

”Old Master Wang, I have already brought Jianjun to Nanwu County. I came this time to first deal with the Mountain Ghost. How to find him, and after I deal with him, how to get out, is where I’ll need your help.”

”That thing is basically impossible to kill.”

”I’ll try. If it doesn’t work, next time I’ll bring a Mushroom Bomb in. I have one stashed away personally, don’t look at me like that, it was given to me by the Scorching Sun Department.”

”...”

Old Master Wang scrutinized Wen Yan, always feeling that Wen Yan had an unreliable aura about him. No matter how generous the Scorching Sun Department was, they wouldn’t give such things away, right?

What is it? Could it be that they dare to detonate Mushroom Bombs now?

Old Master Wang shifted his thoughts and set the matter aside. Wen Yan being able to get in, to appear before him, was already enough to prove a point.

”If what you said is true, then, now that he has a new corpse from outside, there’s only one place he can go. Follow me.”

”How about I carry you, Old Master, to speed things up?”

”...” Old Master Wang sized up Wen Yan, but didn’t refuse: ”Alright, let’s head back first, grab a few things.”

”Okay.”

Wen Yan carried Old Master Wang, stepping out about ten meters in one stride, the earth beneath them seemed to transform into waves, propelling them forward.

Old Master Wang’s eyelid twitched slightly, Taoist Divine Arts.

This physical prowess, could it be that he’s actually not practicing martial arts? But rather a Taoist?

Seeing that Old Master Wang seemed to be handling it well, Wen Yan quietly increased the speed a little, racing back to the village like lightning.

Old Master Wang gathered his gear, changed into his outfit, directed the way, pointing out a general direction.

Wen Yan carried Old Master Wang, sprinting through the mountains, and within ten minutes, they were standing atop a mountain peak.

Old Master Wang pointed towards several mountains in the distance, bathed in moonlight, illuminating the shadows of the peaks.

Those mountain peaks formed a semicircle, facing north and back to the south, the terrain dictated that the valley surrounded by them never saw sunlight throughout the year.

”Only here is suitable for nurturing corpses, there’s no second place.

This place is heavy with Yin Qi, dampness, and once, someone fell from the mountain and died within.

Some were shepherding sheep, and when the sheep misbehaved and climbed cliffs, even fell to their deaths inside.

Various animals perish here every year, accumulating quite a lot of things.

Every year I come here to dispose of the corpses, lest calamity arises sooner or later.”

Wen Yan nodded, checked his equipment again, he had brought everything needed this time, carrying everything that might be useful.

Then Wen Yan glanced at Old Master Wang, activated his Temporary Ability, switching to Borrowed Vision and Overflowing.

He closed his eyes, and upon reopening, the scenery had completely changed.

The mountains appeared like the bodies of giants, lurking there in slumber.

Death Qi, Yin Qi, Ghost Qi, all concealed within, continuously accumulating.

The immense Yin Qi seemingly formed a great river underground, continuously converging to the highest peak at the center.

Inside it seemed like a black hole, perpetually devouring those energies, swallowing them completely.

This is why there’s no perception of energy outside, because nothing is wasted, everything is consumed.

”Please wait here, I’m going to scout ahead.”

Wen Yan left behind a sentence, took a step, and vanished from the spot.

He approached the mountains from the side, circling rapidly, following the path where the Yin Qi disappeared, to find a cave entrance hidden under weeds and trees at the valley’s bottom.

He took a deep breath, and first gave himself a blessing of Yang Energy, which bloomed in the night, its intense energy vaguely transforming into flames, illuminating the valley.

Underneath the valley, many animal skeletons and some corpses were visible, clearly having died not long ago.

Wen Yan brandished the Great Mace and shouted sternly.

”Monster, come forth and face your death.”

From inside the cave, a low growl echoed, the swallowed Yin Qi momentarily halted, and in the next instant, surged forth like a geyser, a chilling blast swept out from the cave.

Wherever it passed, all trees began to wither and decay, the whistling winds making the flames on Wen Yan’s body flicker violently, and suddenly, the flames surged, emitting a roaring sound.

In the next moment, streams of dark light shot out from the cave, Wen Yan raised a middle finger, continuously deflecting and diverting everything that attacked him.

Amidst the chilly mist, a shadowy figure, like a phantom, rapidly approached. After directly blocking one of Wen Yan’s strikes, its body seemed to turn transparent, evading the second attack.

Its claw aimed for Wen Yan’s chest, but Wen Yan didn’t dodge, enduring the hit.

In the next moment, his garment tore, revealing a hidden object in his chest, which shattered directly.

A torrent of Death Qi and Corpse Energy roared out, with Wen Yan holding the Black Stone in one hand like a brick, making a fierce strike.

The shadowy figure in the cold mist intended to continue evading with its illusory form, but unexpectedly, the illusion was ineffective, with one arm smashed by the brick, and one side of its face got struck solidly, leaving its body as a remnant image, and with a swoosh, was sent flying sideways.
