Medical Sage

Chen Fei didn’t personally execute the man who had once tried to assassinate him. There was simply no need; Amotig could do it for him. The moment Chen Fei stepped out of the seaside hotel room, a muffled groan and the sound of gushing blood echoed from within… However, the hand that dealt the blow wasn’t Amotig’s. The Child of Light had ended his own life, choosing a painless death.

As a ruthless assassin who took pleasure in the thrill of the kill and its monetary rewards, he, the Child of Light, had perhaps long foreseen his end would be like this. Aren’t there a few old sayings in Huaxia? ”Heaven watches what you do; it’s not that retribution won’t come, its time is just not yet.”

When the curtains finally closed on this matter, Chen Fei boarded a flight home. He would fly from Cyprus to Dubai, and then transfer for a flight back to his country.

With his current disposition, Chen Fei couldn’t be bothered to feign modesty and directly purchased a first-class ticket. Since first class came with priority boarding, he was already settled in his seat as the economy class passengers began to slowly file on. With that, he closed his eyes, preparing to take a nap.

However, before he could drift off to sleep, his thoughts inevitably returned to his brief, two-day, one-night trip to Cyprus.

Speaking of which, because his stay had been so short, he hadn’t formed any deep impressions of the city of Limassol, or even of the country of Cyprus. Yet, he still remembered the pre-dawn hours of this morning: the salty sea breeze under the night sky, the vast sea shrouded in darkness, the solitary rock formation rising from the water, and the man and woman sitting atop it in the dead of night…

It was a rather unique experience! At least, in all his life, it was a true first, so the memory was still fresh.

I wonder how things will go for her when she gets back? Chen Fei murmured to himself. Anyone with eyes could see that her return would not be smooth and might even involve significant trouble. But, that was ultimately an internal matter for her Sect, and he was reluctant to interfere… at least, not until she personally asked for his help.

With that thought, Chen Fei shook his head, recalling another matter he hadn’t managed to attend to on this trip. He felt a tinge of regret. It’s a pity about that jade artifact. I didn’t get to go to the United Kingdom… I wonder if Pierce can handle this for me. It turned out that just before boarding, he had called Earl Pierce of the Saint Laurent Family in Italy.

「Time rewinds to half an hour earlier.」

When Chen Fei’s call to Earl Pierce connected, the Earl’s excited voice immediately came through the line. ”Oh, is that my dear Chen? Good afternoon! Did you know, Rosa’s condition has improved significantly? Her latest check-up results shocked those doctors speechless! They kept shouting it was impossible! Oh, my dear Chen, your medical skills are truly miraculous. I really, really cannot thank you enough.”

”Is that so? That is indeed good news. However, my personal advice is to let Lady Rosa rest and not overdo it with these check-ups. I don’t think they’re all that necessary. Also, I have a small favor to ask of you,” Chen Fei said with a laugh.

”Just say the word. As long as it’s within my power, I, Pierce, will do my utmost,” Earl Pierce immediately promised, thumping his chest.

”Actually, one of the purposes of my trip to Italy was for a certain jade artifact. However, it seems to have been acquired by someone from the United Kingdom. Since I’m on my way back to my country now, I’m afraid I won’t have time for a trip to the UK. So, my esteemed Earl, could you perhaps handle this matter on my behalf?”

Chen Fei paused for a moment before adding, ”Don’t worry about the cost of purchasing the jade artifact; I’ll cover all expenses.”

”Oh, my dear Chen, you’re being far too formal. This is a trivial matter. Just leave it to me. I’ll handle it beautifully for you, I guarantee it,” Earl Pierce immediately boomed. With his status and position, he certainly wasn’t short on money. Besides, simply buying something was as easy as eating or drinking for him, so it was no trouble at all.

”Excellent. I’ll send you the information on the jade artifact shortly. I look forward to your good news, Earl Pierce,” Chen Fei replied with a smile.

”My dear Chen, you’re too kind. It is my honor to be of service to you,” Pierce said, laughing.

His wife, Rosa, had snatched her life back from the jaws of death, all thanks to Chen Fei’s miraculous medical intervention. Therefore, Chen Fei had no need to be formal with him, and likewise, Pierce had no intention of being evasive or beating around the bush.

Moreover, he knew this young man from Huaxia of the East possessed not only extraordinary medical skill but also an uncommon identity and background, given his connection to the Brad Family—Italy’s current uncrowned king. For this reason alone, even he, Pierce, an Earl of the great Saint Laurent Family, could never afford to be neglectful toward such a powerful figure.

After that phone call, Chen Fei’s flight from Cyprus to Dubai officially took off. Upon arrival in Dubai, there was a layover of about five hours, perhaps to allow passengers to indulge in some pleasant shopping in this world-renowned capital of luxury and wealth.

Naturally, anyone in a hurry would typically avoid a flight that stops over in Dubai.

Chen Fei had obviously chosen this flight because he wanted to wander around this world-famous metropolis and see the sights. He considered it one last bit of leisure before heading home.

”Brother Fei!”

Just as Chen Fei finished several hours of strolling through Dubai and was returning to the airport to re-board, a voice full of surprise cut him off.

”Huh, it’s you, Fei Shuang? It’s been a long time,” Chen Fei said, turning toward the voice. He was surprised to see that the person calling him was Gu Feishuang, whom he hadn’t seen in ages. The look of surprise and joy on her face made him smile involuntarily.

Ever since their chance meeting after he returned from Hong Kong, and his subsequent trip there to help her solve a ”small problem”—teaching Ma Tiansheng, the prodigal young master of the Ma Family, a lesson—her status within Huashu Media had skyrocketed. Even the veterans of the film and music industries didn’t dare put on airs around her. They were all exceptionally friendly, almost as if they wanted the entire company, and even the whole industry, to know how close they were.

The reason was simple. Ma Tiansheng—a well-known prodigal from the direct lineage of the Ma Family, one of Hong Kong’s Five Great Tycoon Families—had his legs nearly broken just for having improper designs on her. To top it off, his family elders had personally dragged him to Huashu Media’s headquarters to apologize to her again in front of everyone.

How could this not shock and shake everyone in the industry!?

After all, that was the Ma Family, one of the five great families that dominated the top echelons of Hong Kong! In their eyes, even all of Huashu Media was likely nothing.

Yet now, for something so common in the industry, a scion of such a colossal family had been made to look so pathetic. Not only were his legs nearly broken, but he was also disgracefully forced by his own family to apologize in person. What did this imply? The mere thought was enough to send shivers down the spines of many in their circle.

It was clear that either Gu Feishuang herself had a shockingly powerful background, or she had latched onto an incredibly powerful backer. Either way, it was enough for her to sail smoothly through the industry without a care in the world for her future.

This was clear from her recent successes. She had become one of the nation’s most popular new film and television goddesses and had received audition invitations for leading roles from several renowned directors. Huashu Media had even given her an opportunity as prestigious as the Dubai Luxury Goods Summer-Fall Fashion Week. It was now crystal clear just how highly the company and the industry regarded her.

However, Gu Feishuang knew perfectly well why these changes had occurred and who was responsible for her current standing.

That was why she was so excited and overjoyed to run into Chen Fei again. After all, it was because of him that she had everything she had today.

”Brother Fei, it’s really you! This is great, I finally get to see you again. Have you been busy? You haven’t called me at all. By the way, what brings you to Dubai? Sightseeing? Shopping?” She then eagerly ran to his side, linking her arm with his and asking curiously.

”Uh, sorry, I have been quite busy lately. I just got back from Italy and am transferring here on my way home. What about you? Are you here for work?” Gu Feishuang was wearing a punk-style, sleeveless, loose-fitting patterned T-shirt with a pair of denim shorts that accentuated her long legs. As she held his arm, a wave of fragrance washed over him, and the soft, warm flesh pressing against his skin made his heart race.

”I’m here to attend a new product launch for the spring and summer collection of a luxury brand I endorse…” Though Fei Shuang noticed the momentary ’change’ in Chen Fei’s body and chuckled inwardly—Brother Fei is still as pure as ever…—her expression remained serene as she smiled sweetly and replied.

”A luxury brand launch? That’s great…”

”Dear Miss Gu Feishuang, over here! We’re over here!”

Just as Chen Fei responded with a smile, a voice speaking clumsy Chinese with a thick foreign accent called out from not far away.
