”Oh, respected Old Brad, is there something you need? I’ve already left Italy and am currently in Cyprus,” Chen Fei said, alone in his room at a seaside hotel in Limassol, Cyprus. He received Old Brad’s call with a hint of surprise, knowing that under normal circumstances, the man wouldn’t contact him so casually unless it was something major.

”Oh, Chen, I have some information for you. A person of Huaxia named Wuu Xiaojun and a British man named Luo Bin have placed a contract with our Brad Family’s Assassin Organization to kill you. I don’t know if you’re acquainted with these two. Is there anything we can help you with?” Old Brad said immediately.

As he spoke, he felt a mix of relief and lingering fear. He had completely forgotten to mention Chen Fei to his subordinates. Moreover, he never imagined anyone would actually dare to post a contract for Chen Fei’s assassination. It was sheer luck this time; an assassin from their family’s organization happened to have seen Chen at the Brad Family Castle, which prevented a tragedy from occurring.

After all, that young man had single-handedly overturned the Crimson Fang. If he were to be assassinated this time, there’s no telling how he might react. At that point, any explanation would be futile.

So, it was truly fortunate. They were lucky this time; otherwise, they would have been in big trouble.

”Wuu Xiaojun?”

Upon hearing the name, Chen Fei blinked in bewilderment. He definitely remembered the name Luo Bin—that tall Caucasian who had ’made quite a scene’ on the plane—but the name Wuu Xiaojun was completely unfamiliar. When did I offend a guy like that? I have no memory of it.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless as he scratched his head and muttered to himself, ”Do I look that hateful? Just because I accidentally revealed your little secret, you have to be this vicious and hire assassins to kill me?”

As he spoke, a flash of murderous intent flickered through his dark eyes.

No matter how one looked at it, hiring assassins to kill him seemed a bit excessive. Although he wasn’t a cruel person, nor one to be unforgiving when he had the upper hand, that didn’t mean he could allow someone to so brazenly hire assassins to kill him. Under such circumstances, he certainly couldn’t just be merciful and pretend nothing had happened.

I should have them deal with that British man. Oh, and before they shut him up for good, they should investigate if he has any accomplices. With this thought, Chen Fei added slowly and deliberately, ”Could you please handle that British man for me? Oh, and before you shut him up for good, it would be best to investigate first and see if the fellow has any accomplices.”

He seemed to remember that earlier in the day, after he and Shadow Immortal Dance had left, the tall Caucasian, Luo Bin, had approached and gotten involved with that Freud.

”I understand. Chen, rest assured, I know what to do. Our Brad Family is quite adept at handling such matters,” Old Brad replied with an expectedly sinister laugh.

He knew all too well how formidable Chen Fei was; even a legendary assassin like Jack the Blade had fallen to him. Now that a little monster like him was being targeted for assassination, it would be strange if he wasn’t angry. Naturally, those who dared to put a bounty on his head wouldn’t have it easy.

”Well then, thank you very much. I’ll hang up now.” Sensing the sinister laughter through the phone, Chen Fei shook his head noncommittally and ended the call.

After hanging up, Chen Fei’s gaze slowly swept over his reflection in the mirror, a faint coldness flitting through his eyes. Wuu Xiaojun? A person of Huaxia? He didn’t remember offending such a person, and the surname was foreign to him. But regardless, since the other party is offering a bounty for my head, they’re undoubtedly an enemy. Just then, his cell phone buzzed. A text message had arrived containing an email account and password. The sender was none other than Old Brad.

Chen Fei promptly logged into the account using the computer in his room and found several photos, as well as some basic information about the man named Wuu Xiaojun. It included contact details, an email, and the like.

”Seems like I need someone to look into this guy,” Chen Fei muttered, taking out his phone to make a call.

「Meanwhile, in Capital City, within the Old Xu Family Courtyard, Xuu Ji, the youngest grandson of Old Master Xuu, was keeping the elderly gentleman company in the backyard, enjoying the cool air.」

At that moment, his phone suddenly rang. Xuu Ji pulled it out, saw the caller ID, and jumped in surprise. ”This is... Grandpa, it’s a call from Mr. Chen!” he immediately exclaimed to Old Master Xuu, shocked that it was Chen Fei.

”Mr. Chen? Are you talking about that kid Chen Fei? Answer the phone! Quickly ask him where he is! How could he be gone for so long without a word, as if he’s vanished off the face of the earth?” Old Master Xuu immediately sat upright on his rattan chair, urging him anxiously.

He knew that over the past month, an earth-shattering event had occurred in the Forty-Nine City. He had originally wanted the young man to come back, thinking that blood is thicker than water. No matter the past misunderstandings or mistakes, he should have at least been there for the end. But who would have thought he would just disappear, becoming completely untraceable? When he called Luo Yuanzhi, all he learned was that the kid had run off to Italy to seek revenge against some Assassin Organization! The most troubling part was that even they couldn’t get in touch with him now. So, he was shocked to hear his grandson say that the young man was calling them personally.

That rascal has finally decided to surface!

”Oh, okay, okay...” Xuu Ji hurriedly answered the call. ”Hello, is this Mr. Chen? It’s me, Xuu Ji. How can I help...”

However, he was interrupted before he could finish. Chen Fei said, ”Brother Xuu, I need a favor. Can you help me look someone up in Capital City?”

Xuu Ji was momentarily taken aback. ”Look someone up? Who?” he couldn’t help but ask, puzzled.

”I don’t know who it is, but I have a photo and some rough information. This person hired an assassin in Italy to kill me, so I want to find out who they really are,” Chen Fei explained.

”What did you say? Someone in Italy hired an assassin to kill you?” Xuu Ji exclaimed in shock, his expression changing.

”What? An assassination? Give me the phone.” Hearing his grandson’s shocked cry, Old Master Xuu’s expression changed. He snatched the phone and asked, ”Hey, you rascal, it’s me. What’s going on? Where are you right now?”

”Grandpa Xuu?”

Chen Fei hadn’t expected Old Master Xuu to be there, let alone snatch the phone. He immediately chuckled and explained, ”Don’t worry, it’s really not a big deal. Someone went to an Assassin Organization in Italy and put a price on my head, but the organization’s leader is a friend of mine and told me about it.”

He paused briefly before continuing, ”However, the person seems to be from Huaxia, and I’m not familiar with the name, so I wanted to ask Brother Xuu to help me find out their background. As for me, I just left Italy and am traveling in Cyprus.”

”Traveling?” With a slightly odd expression, Old Master Xuu’s face twitched as he continued to ask, ”And your trip to Italy... is everything settled?”

Chen Fei was slightly taken aback, then chuckled. ”...You already know? It’s all settled. I wiped out that Assassin Organization; it doesn’t exist anymore.”

”Is that so? If everything is settled, then come back soon. The winds have been a bit strong recently, so be careful,” Old Master Xuu suggested pointedly after a short pause, a sharp glint passing through his aged eyes.

Chen Fei was stunned. The winds have been a bit strong? He couldn’t believe the old man was suddenly speaking to him in riddles. The winds in the Forty-Nine City are always strong. That’s precisely why I’ve always kept my distance—to avoid trouble. But now... Old Master Xuu knows my situation, yet he still brings it up so pointedly. Could it be... that these winds have something to do with me?

”I understand, Grandpa Xuu. I’ll come back as soon as I can,” he said.

”Good. I’ll have Little Ji look into that person for you. That’s all.” Old Master Xuu then hung up the phone.

After he hung up, Xuu Ji couldn’t help but ask, ”Grandpa...” He was confused, not understanding why his grandfather had said those things to Chen Fei.

I’ve known for a while that Chen Fei has some connection to the Old Chen Family in the Forty-Nine City. But in this situation, shouldn’t he stay far away from Capital City and this whole vortex? Knowing Chen Fei’s personality, I can guess that even if he learned the truth, he wouldn’t look upon the Old Chen Family favorably. After all, he and his mother were ruthlessly driven out of the Old Chen Family, out of Capital City, all those years ago.

”With this incident in the Chen Family, things will get chaotic in over a month. Who knows how many people are waiting to kick them when they’re down.”

At that moment, Old Master Xuu leaned back in his rattan chair, squinting as he murmured, ”And in that situation, they will surely turn to that boy, Chen Fei. They know very well that he’s the only one who can persuade me to step in, protect them, and scare off the jackals.”

Hearing this only made Xuu Ji more confused. ”But doesn’t that mean it’s even more reason not to urge Mr. Chen to return?” he asked.

”But the thing is, the kid has to know about it, doesn’t he? We can’t keep him in the dark forever,” Old Master Xuu replied, a complex emotion flickering in his aged eyes. ”That kid is too stubborn, even a bit extreme. I’m afraid the later he finds out, the deeper his resentment will grow. If the two sides end up causing a major ruckus here in Capital City, those in power won’t just stand by and watch.”
