”What exactly happened? Could it be?”

After the stunning and seductive young woman stumbled away in a hurry, Young Master Sunx, Sunx Long, finally looked at his cousin with a somber expression and spoke slowly. He wasn’t foolish; his interactions with his cousin seemed to be limited to that long-past, unspeakable matter.

”Yes. Cousin, there’s a problem with that matter...” Hearing this, Wuu Xiaojun nodded with a solemn and flustered expression, about to explain, but he was abruptly interrupted by Young Master Sunx.

”Cousin, you gave me your word that there would be no issues, no slip-ups. But now... was there a leak? Or is that son of a bitch still alive?” Young Master Sunx asked with a grim face.

Both a leak and the son of a bitch surviving were unacceptable to him. After all, his status was different, and he had many things to consider. Hiring an assassin in secret was one thing, but if the news got out, the situation would escalate and become extremely serious. The Old Sunx Family had a reputation to uphold in Capital City. If a member of the Direct Lineage was discovered to have hired an assassin, how could the Old Sunx Family save face?

At this thought, the expression on Young Master Sunx’s face grew even uglier.

”No, no. It’s not what you think, cousin. The situation has just become a little more complicated,” Wuu Xiaojun immediately said, shaking his head.

”It’s not? Then what on earth is going on? What happened?” Hearing this, Young Master Sunx’s expression brightened slightly as he asked again, this time with urgency.

”It’s like this...”

Wuu Xiaojun quickly began to explain. Perhaps it was because his ’level’ was too low. He also hadn’t returned to Italy recently, instead staying in Capital City where some issues had arisen with the Wuu Family. As a result, it wasn’t until last night that he suddenly received the news. The terrifying assassin organization, Crimson Fang—renowned as the strongest in Italy’s industry and even ranked fourth in the global dark Assassin World—had been inexplicably annihilated overnight.

To him, this was a once-in-a-decade event, something on the scale of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America. Under normal circumstances, after the initial shock, he would have treated it as a piece of gossip, a conversation topic for after dinner.

But the current situation was slightly different, as not long ago, he had just commissioned them for a hit.

”Damn it, they got wiped out? Fuck, that kid has the devil’s own luck!” Hearing this, Sunx Long couldn’t help but curse, his face twisting into a strange expression. The situation was just too... too bizarre.

Such a large, world-famous Assassin Organization was suddenly wiped out, and the timing was so perfectly coincidental. Who would believe a story like that?

Of course, no matter how frustrated or agitated he was, he would never have guessed that Crimson Fang’s destruction was not due to some other reason, but precisely because of the assassination mission he had them accept. In fact, this unlucky young master had been the one to lead Crimson Fang into the pit, a fact he was completely unaware of.

So for now, he could only think it was an incredible coincidence and that the son of a bitch was just too damn lucky. Wait a minute...

Just then, as if suddenly remembering something, his face turned drastically worse. He looked up, staring intently at his cousin Wuu Xiaojun, and said, ”If that Assassin Organization was wiped out, then what about my money...?”

Only now did he grasp the crux of the matter. He had forked over a full one hundred million Yuann for Chen Fei’s head. But now, with that damn Assassin Organization mysteriously gone, the hit couldn’t be carried out. Did that mean his one hundred million Yuann had just gone down the drain?

”No, cousin, I, I, I... I didn’t see this coming either! Who could have known something like this would suddenly happen?” Wuu Xiaojun licked his lips, his voice trembling as he spoke with a face on the verge of tears.

He had been hoping this job would go off without a hitch, giving him a chance to cling to his cousin’s coattails. After all, the status of a Direct Lineage member of the Old Sunx Family in Capital City was incredibly influential and prestigious. But now... damn it, how could he run into such absurdly bad luck? This was just too much.

”Didn’t know? You didn’t know? To hell with you! That was one hundred million! Do you think it’s Vietnamese Dong or yen, just worthless paper?” Young Master Sunx couldn’t stop himself from leaping up and kicking his cousin viciously, cursing furiously with a dark expression.

Being willing to spend one hundred million Yuann to have Chen Fei killed was already excruciatingly painful for him.

But if the kill had been successful, allowing him to vent the foul anger in his heart, he could have endured the pain in his wallet.

But now his money had been completely wasted... That was one hundred million Yuann!

How could he possibly accept this?

BANG!

The heavy blow struck Wuu Xiaojun’s chest, sending him rolling across the ground like a gourd. A searing pain flared in his chest, but even so, he didn’t dare show a hint of anger. Instead, he trembled and forced an apologetic smile. ”No, no. Cousin, please let me finish. Of the one hundred million Yuann you gave me, I haven’t paid it all out yet. I only sent them a thirty million Yuann deposit in advance.

”How about this? I’ll cover the thirty million myself. It was my fault for not handling this matter properly.”

”You mean you still have seventy million with you?” Sunx Long was stunned.

His eyes flickered as he pulled the fallen Wuu Xiaojun up from the ground. While helping him up, he said slowly, ”Cousin, sorry, I got a little too excited just now. But tell me, besides Crimson Fang, can you contact any other assassin organizations?”

”Cousin, you mean...” Sensing the killing intent in Sunx Long’s words, Wuu Xiaojun tensed up and asked in a low voice.

”I don’t want this matter to just end halfway. Cousin, I’ll be honest with you. If that son of a bitch doesn’t die, I can’t swallow this insult,” Young Master Sunx said through clenched teeth, his voice ice-cold.

Now, just thinking about being expelled from Mr. Quan’s tutelage and his declining status within the family made his heart ache as if it were being stabbed. What kind of status did he, Young Master Sunx, Sunx Long, possess? When had he ever suffered such a humiliating setback?

He was clearly a proud man, and the prouder a person is, the more likely they are to resort to extremes. Without him even realizing it, his savage nature was being fully unleashed.

”But... but the Old Chen Family’s patriarch just passed away. Those big shots in Capital City won’t tolerate even a speck of dust in their eyes right now. If we make any underhanded moves at a time like this and get discovered, we’ll be in huge trouble,” Wuu Xiaojun said hesitantly, his expression flustered and indecisive.

With the recent passing of the patriarch from the Old Chen Family, one of the Capital City’s Three Great Clans and a Red Family, the city was in a solemn period of mourning. This was a time when all the major families, and even the higher-ups, had tacitly agreed that there should be absolutely no trouble.

Although the waters of Capital City are murky and many dark dealings occur under the surface, things change once they connect to the affairs of venerable elders like the nation’s founding heroes. Then, everything else must be put aside. At the very least, during the period of mourning following their passing, they must be accorded proper and supreme respect. This was a rule that had been followed for decades in the Forty-Nine City, and no one could violate it.

”That’s why I’m telling you to keep looking for foreign assassins. As long as we don’t cause trouble inside Capital City, no one will care, and no one has the time to care. Besides, that kid is probably not in Capital City right now anyway,” Young Master Sunx said, a sinister tone creeping into his voice.

As a Direct Lineage member of the Old Sunx Family, he was well aware of this long-standing rule in the Forty-Nine City. The Old Chen Family’s patriarch had just passed, and to pay him final respects, the Capital City would remain quiet for at least three months. No one would dare to cause a disturbance. What happened after three months, however, was another story. With the Old Chen Family’s Pillar of the Sky and Sea-Calming Divine Needle gone, it would undoubtedly trigger an unimaginable chain reaction.

Not to mention, the Old Chen Family’s title as one of Capital City’s top-tier Red Families was already becoming somewhat undeserved. Perhaps some people would grow impatient and try to make a move for the seats of power.

Of course, such high-level matters had nothing to do with him, Young Master Sunx—his standing was far from sufficient. However, his point was that rules may be fixed, but people are flexible. The Capital City had to be quiet for three months, but the world outside the Forty-Nine City was not subject to the same restriction!

That was why he decided to have his cousin Wuu Xiaojun continue to find foreign assassins for him. That way, even if word got out later, no one could use the ’three-month truce’ as a serious accusation against him.

”...All right then.”

Wuu Xiaojun was silent for a long while before finally gritting his teeth and agreeing.

He knew that if he refused his cousin, he would certainly offend him, even if he offered to cover the thirty-million-Yuann loss.

For him, that would go against his ’original intention,’ and the loss would far outweigh the gain. Clearly, that was an outcome he wished to avoid.

With this thought, he made up his mind. He looked up at Sunx Long and said slowly, ”Cousin, besides Crimson Fang, we can also contact Russia’s Far East Gang and another assassin organization in Italy, Blood Blade. Which one do you think would be more suitable?”

”Russia’s Far East Gang and Italy’s Blood Blade?”

Sunx Long murmured the names, his brows furrowed while his eyes flashed with excitement and contemplation. After a moment, he looked up and asked, ”Of the two you mentioned, which one is stronger?”
