Medical Sage

”My profession?”

Upon hearing this, Chen Fei turned his head to glance at the man, then suddenly broke into a smile. ”Of course, I don’t mind. I’m a doctor, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner from Huaxia. I wonder if you’re satisfied with my answer?”

”Oh, Chen, you’re actually a practitioner of Chinese medicine? Like the super magical ones on TV? My sister once saw a Chinese medicine practitioner in Huaxia who cured her chronic condition in no time! It’s just that the herbal medicine was so bitter. During that time, every time I smelled it at home, I had to pinch my nose.” Hearing that Chen Fei was a practitioner of Chinese medicine, Corona looked astonished, her expression one of exaggerated surprise.

”Oh, so you’re actually a practitioner of Chinese medicine?”

Upon hearing this, however, the disdain in the tall white man Luo Bin’s eyes grew even more pronounced. He continued, ”Corona, forgive my bluntness, but although Chinese medicine seems quite magical, this sort of mystical and deceptive medical practice really isn’t recognized internationally. So, I think this gentleman’s profession isn’t very promising. How much could he make in a month? Five hundred euros? Eight hundred? A thousand? I was already making five thousand euros a month several years ago. From that standpoint, this gentleman doesn’t seem to compare to me.”

This guy was certainly good at mocking people. What did he mean by saying he was already making five thousand euros a month years ago? Was he implying he earns even more now? Or did he think Chen Fei’s income was too low to mention, so he magnanimously chose not to embarrass this international friend? A display of how much he ’respected’ people?

”Luo Bin, I suggest you shut your damn mouth! Before I completely lose it with you! Oh, my God, how did I ever get to know such an ungentlemanly and narrow-minded guy?” Corona retorted, having seemingly caught the implication in Luo Bin’s words. Her pretty face clouded over as she spoke with clear displeasure.

To be fair, earning five thousand euros a month, even in economically developed regions like Europe or the United Kingdom, was quite an admirable achievement... But that was no excuse to flaunt it and mock others. Besides, was five thousand euros really that much? Her monthly allowance was more than that... What a shallow person. Disgusting.

”Five thousand euros?”

Just then, Corona heard Chen Fei, who was sitting beside her, suddenly chuckle. He shook his head nonchalantly and said, ”Mr. Luo Bin? Although I’d prefer to put it more gently, you really are quite ignorant and short-sighted. Is Chinese medicine truly a mystical and deceptive practice?”

Upon hearing this, Luo Bin’s expression changed. As a citizen of the Great British Empire and someone so ’distinguished’ in his career, how could he stand being ridiculed by Chen Fei, a man from the developing country of Huaxia? Not to mention, Chen Fei was a practitioner of what he considered a charlatan’s profession. For this man to have the audacity to now accuse him of being ignorant and short-sighted filled him with rage, and he opened his mouth to retort.

”Don’t try to refute me just yet.”

But Chen Fei calmly stopped him and said with a half-smile, ”Although I don’t mean to belittle Western medicine, Chinese medicine can be more powerful and practical in some areas. Like right now, for example…” With that, ignoring the astonished looks from both Luo Bin and Corona, he leaned in and whispered something into the other man’s ear.

”Don’t bother me again, or don’t blame me for publicizing your little secret.” Chen Fei then sat up straight, deliberately raising his tone as he finished with a smirk.

At first, Luo Bin wore a look of disdain, but after hearing what Chen Fei said, his face flushed bright red. He stammered, ”You—you—you’re talking nonsense!”

”Heh heh.”

Chen Fei didn’t get angry at the man’s loud protest. He simply continued with an unbothered, half-smiling expression, ”Whether or not I’m talking nonsense, you know best. Alright, Corona, let’s not bother with him anymore. We’ll let him wallow in his sadness for a while, hahaha.” Laughing, Chen Fei turned away, no longer paying attention to the man whose face had turned completely red.

This kid, trying to act tough in front of me? He was just asking for it. Still too young. Hahahaha!

”Hey, Chen, what on earth did you say to him? Why does he look like he’s been stunned, as if he’s been hit by something?” Seeing this, Corona couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Luo Bin in the row behind them. He sat there with a dumbfounded expression, as if he’d been struck stupid. She leaned close to Chen Fei and whispered curiously.

She knew all too well how thick-skinned and persistent that guy was. What made him suddenly become like this? This felt great! Hahaha.

”Oh, Corona, I think it’s better if you don’t know,” Chen Fei said, playfully keeping her in suspense.

”Chen, I hate people who only tell half the story! Tell me what you said to him. I’m so curious!” Corona exclaimed. She shot Chen Fei a look and covertly snaked a hand to his waist, pinching the flesh there threateningly.

Seeing this, Chen Fei was at a loss for whether to laugh or cry. He asked again to confirm, ”You really want to know?” Heaven be my witness, this really wasn’t something a lady should hear.

”Of course!” Corona urged, almost starting to lecture him. ”Out with it! Chen, don’t just tell half a story. It’s really annoying, especially to girls, you know?” As she spoke, the hand on his waist began to tighten, making it clear she’d get rough if he didn’t comply!

”Alright, alright, don’t get physical! I’ll talk, I’ll talk… okay?”

Chen Fei smiled helplessly. He glanced at Luo Bin in the row behind, whose face was as red as a sweet potato. Ignoring the silent plea in the man’s eyes, he ’cruelly’ leaned in and whispered into Corona’s ear, ”I told him he has premature ejaculation!”

”Oh, no way? Premature ejaculation? Luo Bin, you actually have prema—”

Corona couldn’t help but exclaim. She subconsciously looked toward the back row to confirm, but by the time she realized how inappropriate her reaction was, it was too late to cover her mouth. Everyone in first class had heard her outburst. With strange and even smirking expressions, they all turned to look at Luo Bin, who wished the ground would swallow him whole.

Oh, that poor guy. He actually has premature ejaculation... How pitiful. Hahaha!

”I… you… I…”

Seeing this, Luo Bin felt as if he were being repeatedly pricked with needles. His entire face turned so red it was practically smoking, and he couldn’t meet anyone’s eyes, wishing he could just crawl into a hole and disappear.

”Oh, Luo Bin, I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean it. Don’t be too sad, this sort of thing is… PFFT, hahaha! Hahaha!” Seeing the scene, Corona seemed to finally realize her ’mistake.’ She put on a straight face as if trying to forcibly console her poor friend, but in the end, she couldn’t hold back her laughter. She quickly turned her head away again, covering her mouth and shaking uncontrollably.

”Oh, Corona, I never realized how mischievous you are. Your friend has completely lost face. I didn’t mean to crush him like this, you know. Just look at him,” Chen Fei said with a straight face, but the slight twitch at the corner of his lips betrayed his true feelings.

Ah, this kid is just too young. Daring to act tough in front of me, Chen Fei? You asked for it, didn’t you? Haha! Hahaha…

”Hey, it’s not my fault he’s so useless he has premature ejaculation,” Corona said, feeling a little wronged. Then, she asked excitedly, ”But Chen, how did you know he had that condition? Judging by his expression, it must be true.”

”Obviously, it’s true. Why else would he look so embarrassed?” Chen Fei replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. He then continued with a smile, ”As for how I could tell, have you forgotten that I’m a practitioner of Chinese medicine? Chinese medicine emphasizes observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking, so we generally don’t need auxiliary medical instruments. A single glance is often enough to diagnose an illness.”

”Really? In that case, traditional Chinese medicine is amazing!” Corona looked incredulous, then suddenly became fidgety. ”Chen, I… you… Could you take a look at me?”

”You mean…” Chen Fei leaned in and whispered in her ear. For a bold and outgoing Western girl like her to suddenly become so shy and fidgety... he could guess what it was without even needing to check. It had to be a uniquely female ailment.

In fact, Chen Fei had noticed from the moment he first saw her that this poor Western girl suffered from dysmenorrhea.

”Really!? You actually noticed… Oh, Chen, your medical skills are magical, so amazing! Is there any way you can help me? As a doctor, you should know how painful this is for us girls. Every time, the pain is so bad I feel like strangling myself.” As soon as she thought about the agonizing pain of dysmenorrhea, Corona’s face became a mask of misery.

”Don’t worry. After we get off the plane, I’ll write you a prescription for Chinese medicine. Don’t complain about the bitter taste; just take it faithfully for half a month. I guarantee it’s a surefire cure. You’ll never have to suffer that pain again for the rest of your life,” Chen Fei said with a smile.

”Really? That’s fantastic! Chen, you’re awesome!” As soon as she heard this, she was so happy she nearly jumped out of her seat. In a burst of joy, she leaned over and gave Chen Fei a quick ’POP!’ on the cheek. The kiss made Luo Bin, sitting in the row behind them, stare with his eyes wide open.

For a girl who suffers from dysmenorrhea year after year, could there be anything more joyous than finding a way to eliminate that pain? Oh, traditional Chinese medicine is just the best! It’s absolutely miraculous!

Taken aback by the surprise attack, Chen Fei paused for a moment, subconsciously touching his cheek. Then, with a bit of ’helpless’ narcissism, he said, ”Corona, while it’s true I’m awesome, traditional Chinese medicine is even more awesome, isn’t it?”

”Of course. I love traditional Chinese medicine. I’m serious,” Corona said earnestly.
