Medical Sage

”Dr. George, please don’t mistake my tolerance for a license for your insolence. Do you really think you amount to anything in front of me?” As Dr. George repeatedly ignored his words, Pierce Earl was clearly growing angry. His face darkened, and he gestured behind him with a wave of his hand.

”Oh, no—My Lord Earl, what do you intend to do? Let, let go of me…”

Immediately, Dr. George, who had been carrying himself with an air of superiority, saw his expression change and began to stammer in a panic.

The moment Pierce Earl finished speaking, two men dressed in black suits and sunglasses, exuding an extremely cold demeanor, walked up from behind and seized him by the arms.

”No! My Lord Earl, I am doing this for your benefit, for Miss Rosa’s life! Oh, God, you must have been cursed by this deceiving Eastern swindler. Traditional Chinese Medicine? It’s completely fake, without any scientific basis. How can it be compared with our authoritative Western medicine?” Dr. George began to shout and make a scene.

Of course, at the same time, he was panicking inside. He was well aware of the gap between himself and the head of the Saint Laurent Group standing before him.

As everyone knows, Italy is the capital of fashion culture and the gathering place for the world’s top luxury brands. The Saint Laurent Group, Italy, is definitely among the top ten, even the top five, of the world’s luxury circles. The number of luxury brands under its banner is countless, eagerly sought after by the world’s rich, wealthy, and noble. To outsiders, it was a terrifyingly efficient money-making machine. The influence born from it was by no means ordinary.

And he, George Anthony Lias, was at best a doctor. Even with the title of an official member of one of the world’s three top medical alliances—the American Lo Yabes Medical Alliance—he still seemed far too weak in front of a magnate like Pierce Earl. The disparity was immeasurable.

No matter how extraordinary one’s personal achievements might be, they were insignificant when compared to a colossal super-group that could operate above the law and government.

Because, in a sense, the laws of Italy were manipulated and dictated by them. Even the so-called national leaders were puppets produced under their control.

”Humph! You fool.” Seeing this, even Old Tucci couldn’t help but let out a cold, mocking snort.

This Dr. George Anthony Lias is far too arrogant. Does he really think he’s someone important? Daring to insult Tucci Saint Laurent’s lifesaver at a time like this… and he’s currently the only hope to save Miss Rosa. It’s a good thing Pierce Earl is good-tempered and won’t stoop to his level. If it were me, Old Tucci, this brainless fool would already be on his way to meet God and get acquainted with the teeth of sharks in the sea. Humph!

”Wait,” Chen Fei suddenly spoke up, stopping the men in black from taking Dr. George away.

This made both Old Tucci and Pierce Earl freeze. The latter quickly spoke, ”Dear Mr. Chen, I apologize for my negligence. Rest assured, I will make this annoying fellow disappear from our sight. I guarantee that before you begin treating Miss Rosa, we won’t hear another peep out of him.”

”Oh, no! My Lord Earl, are you planning to put me under house arrest? You have no right to do this! No! You can’t!” Dr. George panicked at these words, shouting hysterically.

However, Chen Fei interrupted Pierce Earl just as he was about to give the order. His eyes, as dark and clear as black obsidian, stared deeply at Dr. George Anthony Lias. He then said coldly, ”If I encountered someone like you back in my country, someone who only knows how to run their mouth, I probably wouldn’t even bother. But since you’re a ’noble foreigner,’ do you really think being born in Europe makes you superior? That you can casually insult the treasures passed down by the ancestors of our great Huaxia? Sorry, but a waste of space like you isn’t qualified.”

On Earth, it’s true that Western medicine is generally considered more powerful than Traditional Chinese Medicine in terms of popularity, trust, and medical status. However, that doesn’t give a foul-mouthed man like you an excuse to look down upon, disparage, and slander TCM.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is pseudoscience? TCM practitioners are deceivers, and their art is an Eastern con?

”I can forgive you for being stupid and unworldly. But for an ignorant person like you to spout such nonsense in front of me, to recklessly sling mud at our Traditional Chinese Medicine, I can’t just sit by and pretend I didn’t hear it.” Chen Fei looked at Dr. George with utter mockery, then paused briefly before speaking indifferently. ”If you ask me about Western medical pathology, I admit, I don’t understand it. But do you know what the human body’s yin and yang are? Do you understand how to regulate the changes in yin, yang, and the five elements? Do you know what Innate and acquired life energies are? It seems you don’t. In that case, can I also call you a fraud? An Italian-European fraud?”

”Shut up! Who do you think you are, talking to me like that? How old are you? What influence do you have in the world of medicine? Traditional Chinese medicine? It’s all a scam, a load of rub—” Dr. George flew into a rage again, incredulous that this Eastern swindler dared to question him. He jabbed his finger, his voice heavy with indignation. ”Yin and yang, the five elements, Innate and acquired energies—that’s all fraudulent nonsense…”

What a joke! Miss Rosa’s condition is so severe that even I, Italy’s finest cardiovascular expert and a distinguished member of the American Lo Yabes Medical Alliance, am not certain of a cure. How could this Eastern charlatan with his so-called Traditional Chinese Medicine possibly succeed? Please, don’t make me laugh. It’s completely impossible. He could never cure Miss Rosa’s severe cardiovascular disease! Of course, the thought that Chen Fei might actually succeed never even crossed his mind. Because if Chen Fei did succeed, wouldn’t that prove that he, George Anthony Lias, Italy’s foremost cardiovascular disease expert and an official member of the Lo Yabes, was inferior to an Eastern con man? Impossible! That’s absolutely impossible! That damn TCM is a total fraud! This Eastern Lad is definitely a swindler!

Thinking this, he no longer held back, letting loose a torrent of questions, insults, and slander. He was on the verge of spewing curses, but this time, someone else lost their patience.

SMACK. Old Tucci strode forward and viciously slapped Dr. George across the face, cursing loudly, ”You’re a disgrace to all Italians!”

”You, you… Mr. Tucci, you hit me? Don’t you know that’s illegal? I’m going to sue you!” It took a moment for Dr. George to process what had happened. Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, he clutched his face with one hand while pointing at Old Tucci and shrieking irrationally. What a joke. Since I, George Anthony Lias, made a name for myself in the international medical community, when have I ever been treated like this? Slapped in the face?

But then… SMACK. Another crisp slap rang out, sending Dr. George spinning.

”Sue me? By all means.” This time, it was Pierce Earl who had acted, slapping him coldly. ”The Saint Laurent Group’s legal department eagerly awaits your court summons—that is, if you have the means to send one,” he said with disdain. Then, as if nothing had happened, he turned to Chen Fei. ”Dear Mr. Chen, don’t bother with this lunatic. He doesn’t represent us Italians. Shall we go inside?”

”My apologies, my lord Pierce Earl, but no,” Chen Fei actually refused him. ”If he had only insulted me, I could have been merciful and ignored a worthless loudmouth. However, he insulted the precious legacy passed down by our ancestors, and he insulted Traditional Chinese Medicine, something I take great pride in. This matter won’t end so easily.”

With that, he paused, his piercing, obsidian-like eyes fixed on Dr. George. ”Dr. George, is it?” he said lightly. ”Since you look down on Chinese medicine so much, how about we make a bet?”

”What bet?” Dr. George asked, his face sullen.

”Simple. Let’s bet on this very patient. If I cure her, you must publish a statement in the world’s largest and most authoritative medical journal, under your own name, admitting that Western medicine is inferior to Chinese medicine. If I lose and fail to cure her, I will agree to anything you want,” Chen Fei said slowly, looking right at him. Then, with a mocking expression, he added, ”So, what do you say, Dr. George? Do you dare to take this bet?”

”What did you say!?”

Upon hearing this, even with all his disdain for Traditional Chinese Medicine and contempt for Chen Fei, Dr. George’s confident expression changed drastically.

If he really did such a thing—publicly admitting in the world’s largest medical journal that Western medicine is inferior to Traditional Chinese Medicine—his reputation in the community would be in tatters. He’d be a target of ridicule and outrage for the rest of his career.

Traditional Chinese Medicine? What is that nonsense? What right does it have to be compared with our authoritative and systematic Western medicine, let alone surpass it? That’s impossible. A complete joke.

”What’s the matter? Are you scared?” Chen Fei’s next words caused his expression to shift again. ”If you don’t dare, Dr. George, then I’m afraid I might just have to force you to do it anyway. And then you will lose your chance to be proven wrong gracefully.”

”Are you threatening me? You? A mere Eastern charlatan?” Dr. George sneered, his face grim.
