Medical Sage

”A threat?” Chen Fei’s pitch-black, crystal-clear eyes narrowed, shooting out two sharp, icy glares. ”Maybe you’re right to think so. I am threatening you. What about it?”

Hearing this, Doctor George suddenly broke free from the two men in black suits holding his arms. He walked up to Chen Fei with a face full of mockery and a cold laugh, tilting his head to taunt him, ”Oh~ what did I just hear? An Easterner from an economically underdeveloped region dares to threaten me on Italian soil? Who do you think you are? The respected Pierce Earl? Please, that joke isn’t funny at all.”

Seeing this, and considering Chen Fei’s previous remarks had indeed been a bit ’overconfident’, even Pierce Earl couldn’t help but exchange a bewildered glance with Old Tuqi. He truly couldn’t understand what gave this young man from the East the audacity to so blatantly threaten Doctor George.

After all, while Doctor George might not be much in the eyes of Pierce Earl, to an ’ordinary’ foreigner from Huaxia like Chen Fei, he was not so ordinary. George was one of Italy’s most influential and top-ranked experts in cardiovascular disease.

”Is that so? But I’m not joking with you anymore.” A disdainful sneer curled on Chen Fei’s lips as he took out his phone.

”Haha, a classic Eastern actor, an Eastern con artist! You need to get something straight. This is Italy, not some backward region of yours. Threaten me? If you have the guts, show me how. Just you alone?” Hearing Chen Fei’s disparaging tone, Doctor George finally erupted in anger again, pointing a finger at Chen Fei and shouting his challenge.

”Rest assured, after insulting our traditional Chinese medicine, do you really think you can just walk away from this?” A chilling smile, one that could send shivers down one’s spine, touched the corners of Chen Fei’s mouth as he spoke lightly.

If anyone familiar with Chen Fei had been present at that moment, they likely would have shuddered. Doctor George, however, still didn’t realize the grave mistake he had made. He was convinced Chen Fei was just an Eastern swindler, all talk and no action, who wouldn’t dare to actually do anything to him.

Pierce Earl and the others thought the same. This wasn’t Huaxia, after all, but their Italy. And George Anthony Lias was one of their nation’s top authorities on cardiovascular disease, a formal member of Lo Yabes with immense influence. Many members of top organizations had sought his medical expertise. They simply couldn’t believe that a young man from Huaxia, even if he had some power back in his homeland, could extend his reach all the way to Italy. They figured he couldn’t possibly have such capability.

”Is that so? Fine, then. I’d love to see how a bluffer from Huaxia like you can threaten me, George Anthony Lias, in Italy,” Doctor George sneered, his preconceived notions fueling his scorn. He arrogantly played his trump card. ”Let me tell you something you probably don’t know. Just a few months ago, I performed a surgery that saved the life of the son of the noble Earl of Szekendov, from the Brad Family…”

The Earl of Szekendov was another major figure from an ancient Italian family. Even a man like Pierce Earl couldn’t act too assertively in his presence, because that man’s surname was Brad. It was a noble and powerful name that even the Saint Laurent Family couldn’t hope to match. This connection was the source of Doctor George’s audacity to be so insolent in front of Pierce Earl.

”The Earl of Szekendov?”

Indeed, upon hearing that name, even Pierce Earl’s expression changed slightly. The surname ’Brad’ carried too much weight, and even though he shared the rank of Earl, Pierce still felt a lack of confidence and a sense of dread.

When Old Tuqi heard it, he was even more startled. After all, that was the Brad Family! Strictly speaking, even their Saint Laurent Family was merely second-rate when facing Italy’s uncrowned kings; they never had a real chance to stand tall before them.

So, if Chen Fei inadvertently offended a colossal entity like the Brad Family, or the Earl of Szekendov, all because of a man like Doctor George... it would be like throwing an egg against a stone. In Italy, if the Brad Family wanted someone to disappear, it would be a matter of minutes. No one could intervene. The only exception might have been a death-like organization of assassins such as Crimson Fang. The problem was, not long ago, Crimson Fang had been mysteriously and completely annihilated overnight.

In other words, from this day forward, the Brad Family was the true, undisputed, uncrowned king of Italy. No one dared to defy them.

”Dear Chen…” Thinking of this, Old Tuqi couldn’t help but sigh internally. He reached out and gently tugged on Chen Fei’s sleeve, shaking his head slightly.

He could understand Chen Fei’s feelings at that moment. As a formidable practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, he was being mocked and slandered by someone like Doctor George. But the Brad Family was, after all, the Brad Family! Who could be blamed when George Anthony Lias had latched onto such an existence?

Chen Fei was Old Tuqi’s savior, and he didn’t want him to get into serious trouble in Italy. If the Earl of Szekendov truly decided to act, even Pierce Earl would be deeply concerned.

”The Brad Family? The Earl of Szekendov?” But just then, Chen Fei suddenly chuckled, a playful and mocking smile on his face.

”What are you laughing at? Oh, forgive my memory. How could a bottom-feeder, a con artist from the East like you, ever come into contact with a venerable, top-tier existence like the Brad Family? Still, you should feel honored just to hear the name today… Threaten me? You?” Doctor George’s face was filled with intense disdain.

”A venerable, top-tier existence? Perhaps in your eyes,” Chen Fei shook his head and picked up his phone. ”But I’m quite curious... will you still be able to laugh in a moment?”

Naturally, he was calling Old Brad. The Earl of Szekendov? Too insignificant for him to even bother with.

”Oh, esteemed Sir Chen! It is truly an honor to receive your call again. Tell me, are you enjoying Florence, our beautiful and fashionable jewel of Italy?” Old Brad’s hearty laugh boomed through the phone as soon as the call connected.

”Of course. Florence is a truly charming city, just as stunning as what I saw in Rome,” Chen Fei replied with a smile, adopting an artistic flair.

”Haha, is that so? Then you must stay in Italy for a few more days and see the sights. Alright, esteemed Sir Chen, let’s get down to business. Is there something the Brad Family can do for you?” Old Brad laughed before his tone shifted. He wasn’t a fool; he knew that for Chen Fei to call him just hours after leaving Rome, something must have come up—perhaps a small bit of trouble.

”Alright then, I’ll be direct. In Florence, there’s a Doctor George at the Saint George Ruarg Hospital. He seems to have some influence in cardiology and apparently knows someone from your family... a Szekendov? The man has a foul mouth. He insulted me, which is one thing, but he also insulted the traditional Chinese medicine that I take pride in. So now, I want to frighten him. I want to scare him so badly he wets his pants. Do you understand me?” Chen Fei stated bluntly.

SNAP!

The moment Chen Fei finished speaking, he could hear the loud sound of a hand slamming on a table through the phone. It was clear that Old Brad was furious.

Are you kidding me? Who was Chen Fei? He was the monster from Huaxia who could wipe out a terrifying Assassin Organization like Crimson Fang in one fell swoop! The only reason Old Brad felt at ease with him in Italy was that the young man was willing to live a normal life and was easy to talk to; he didn’t fear him causing random trouble. But now? Some clueless idiot had been reckless enough to provoke this young monster, and even insult him? If they truly drove him into a frenzy, the chaos he could cause would shake the entire nation of Italy.

Of course, another reason for Old Brad’s anger was that he and Chen Fei had gotten along well, forming a decent friendship. And now, his friend was being insulted by some doctor? What was this? A slap in the face to the Brad Family?

”My apologies, esteemed Sir Chen. I didn’t realize we had such fools in Italy. Rest assured, I will handle this matter properly. I will make sure he doesn’t see another sunset,” Old Brad said angrily.

”Don’t.” Chen Fei immediately shook his head. ”In Huaxia, we believe in reasoning with people. This man claims our traditional Chinese medicine is a fraud. I will use the truth to leave him speechless, force him to admit defeat, and make him recognize his mistake. Besides, if I wanted him dead, I wouldn’t have made this call.”

”…Oh. My apologies, I got carried away.” Hearing the second half of Chen Fei’s statement, Old Brad’s eyelid twitched. He said slowly, ”Alright, I understand. Don’t you worry, esteemed Sir Chen. I will make sure that foolish man experiences the feeling of being terrified enough to wet his pants. I guarantee it.”
