Runar’s aura still blanketed the entire sector. The golden pressure held every Universe Will and Multiversal being frozen in place, forcing them to watch what was about to happen. Between his outstretched hands, the Principle of Devour continued to expand—a dark, hungry sphere of pure consumption that should have belonged only to the Void Devouring race. The sphere pulsed with a refined, almost elegant hunger, its surface shifting like liquid shadow under perfect control.

The immobilized dragon stared at that growing power with pure disbelief.

In its trillions of years of existence, it had never once seen a being outside its race successfully use the Principle of Devour. It had only heard ancient legends—stories told in hushed tones among the oldest of its kind about impossible existences who could steal even their racial principle. Those stories had always felt like myths, cautionary tales meant to keep younger dragons from growing arrogant.

Now the myth was standing in front of it, and the principle was aimed directly at its core.

This is impossible... the dragon’s thoughts raced, golden eyes locked on the dark sphere. No outsider has ever—

”How the fuck...” the dragon had already roared. The rest of the sentence died in its throat as the dark energy between Runar’s hands surged forward.

The devouring began.

Dark tendrils of the Principle of Devour latched onto the dragon’s body with surgical precision. They did not tear or burn. They simply pulled. Everything that made up the Void Devouring Dragon started to unravel in steady, irreversible streams.

Its memories flooded out first—countless ages of hunting across empty voids, the first universe it had ever swallowed, the taste of collapsing stars, the long chase after stronger predators, the near-death encounters that had forced it to flee and hide for centuries. Faces of long-dead Multiversals flashed past. The sensation of growing stronger after every meal. The quiet arrogance that had settled into its bones after surviving so long.

Then came the principles it had stolen over its long life. Incomplete laws of space, fragments of time, shards of destruction and creation it had ripped from previous prey. Techniques followed—devouring fields refined through trial and error, spatial locks designed to trap fleeing meals, emergency regeneration methods that had saved it more than once. Its own hard-earned comprehension of the Principle of Devour was stripped away layer by layer, peeled back like skin from muscle. Even the information particles that formed its internal multiverses were drawn out in steady, glowing streams, each one carrying the condensed essence of entire realms it had once claimed as its own.

The dragon struggled desperately.

No—stop—those are mine!

It tried to activate its own Principle of Devour to counter-absorb the attack. Dark energy flared weakly inside its body, attempting to reverse the flow. It tried to thrash against the invisible lock holding it in place. Muscles that could once shatter universes strained uselessly. It poured every remaining drop of power into resistance, roaring through clenched fangs.

”Get... off... me!”

None of it worked. Runar’s version of the principle was cleaner, deeper, and far more refined. Every attempt the dragon made only fed more information into Runar’s comprehension. The harder it fought, the faster the tendrils pulled.

The sector watched in complete horror and awe as the Advanced-tier Void Devouring Dragon was systematically dismantled.

No grand explosions. No chaotic battle. Just a calm, methodical process of consumption. The once-terrifying predator that had erased three universes and nearly sealed and devoured an entire sector was being taken apart piece by piece in front of everyone. Multiversals floated frozen, eyes wide. Universe Wills pressed against the insides of their membranes, unable to look away. William, inside his own realm, felt a cold weight settle in his non-existent chest.

He’s not even angry, William thought. He’s just... taking it.

While the devouring continued, the dragon made one final, berserk attempt.

Something deep inside it snapped. The last of its pride, the final scrap of survival instinct that had kept it alive for ages, ignited into pure desperation. It forced its broken body to generate a massive self-destructive burst of pure devouring energy, hoping to at least injure the being in front of it or create an opening to escape.

Dark power erupted outward in a violent wave that could have erased Initiate-tier Multiversals in an instant. The void around the dragon warped and screamed as the uncontrolled energy tried to consume everything within reach—including the one who was consuming it.

”Fuck!” the dragon roared, voice raw and cracking. ”I’m taking you with me, you monster!”

Its golden eyes burned with the last of its hatred. If I’m going down, I’m dragging this bastard into the void with me. No one treats a Void Devouring Dragon like a test subject and walks away.

The self-destructive wave surged toward Runar like a collapsing black star.

Runar did not even step back. He simply continued the process. The violent wave of uncontrolled devouring energy was absorbed into the same Principle of Devour he was using, becoming more fuel for his understanding. The dark sphere between his hands swelled for a moment, then settled again, denser and more refined than before. The dragon’s last struggle faded into nothing, the explosive force vanishing as if it had never existed.

It didn’t even slow him down... the dragon’s thoughts grew sluggish, fragmented. Nothing... works...

By the time the process neared its end, the once-massive Void Devouring Dragon had been reduced to a critically weakened state. Most of its power, memories, principles, and information particles now resided within Runar. What remained of the dragon was a shadow of its former self—heavily injured, stripped of nearly everything that had made it dangerous, and barely clinging to existence. Its scales were cracked and dull. Its golden eyes had dimmed to a dull amber. The proud predator that had once looked down on entire sectors now floated limply, a broken remnant.

The broken remnant of the Void Devouring Dragon floated alone in the silent void.

What remained of its once-colossal body was little more than a cracked, dimming husk. Dark energy leaked from every fracture in slow, dying streams. Scales that had once reflected the light of swallowed universes now crumbled into drifting particles. Dimensional tears no longer tried to close; they simply widened, allowing more of its essence to slip away into the emptiness.

So this is how it ends, the dragon thought, its fading golden eyes half-lidded.

Memories drifted through what was left of its consciousness like ash on a dying wind. The first universe it had ever tasted—bright, screaming, and full of unfamiliar laws. The long centuries of hunting across empty sectors. The pride of growing stronger with every meal. The quiet certainty that nothing in this rundown corner of existence could truly threaten it. Even the recent humiliation of being slapped across millions of void units felt distant now, almost unimportant.

I consumed so many... and in the end, I became the meal.

A faint, bitter amusement stirred inside the crumbling mind. All those ages of carefully avoiding stronger predators, of knowing when to flee and when to strike, of refining the Principle of Devour until it felt absolute—none of it had mattered the moment that calm figure in dark robes appeared. The legends had been real after all. There truly existed beings who could reach into a Void Devouring Dragon’s core and take everything.

I wonder if any of the others ever saw it coming either...

The last of its internal multiverses unraveled into thin streams of information particles. The Principle of Devour, once the foundation of its entire existence, flickered one final time and then went still. The dragon’s golden eyes dimmed completely.

In the quiet void, the broken corpse continued to disintegrate, piece by piece, until only drifting motes of dark energy remained—soon to be claimed by the one who had ended it.

Runar closed his hands. The dark sphere of the Principle of Devour sank into his body and settled. He had not only copied the principle—he had refined and elevated it through direct application. Golden light pulsed once across his form as the new comprehension integrated itself.

He looked at where the broken dragon had been for a moment, expression still calm, almost clinical. Then he noticed something and muttered to himself, ’Thats a relief’ so he snapped his fingers.

Snap.

Across the sector, reality shifted.

The Multiversals who had been devoured by the barrier reappeared in the void, whole and unharmed. Confusion and shock flashed across their faces as they looked down at their restored bodies. The universes that had been consumed by the dragon earlier reformed in their original locations, membranes intact, lifeforms restored as if the erasure had never happened. Stars reignited. Laws settled back into place. Entire civilizations that had been reduced to information particles blinked back into existence without ever knowing they had nearly ceased to exist. The sudden return of so many beings and entire realms sent a wave of shock through everyone still watching.

Runar’s calm voice carried across the sector, quiet but clear.

”I devoured the dragon, which means I also took in everything it had recently consumed. You’re lucky it hadn’t digested your information particles yet—only your energy. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to restore you.”

The restored Universe Wills and Multiversals stared at him in stunned silence for a long moment. Then gratitude and residual fear poured out in waves.

”Thank you...” one Universe Will whispered, voice trembling.

”We owe you our existence.”

”If you hadn’t intervened...”

An Initiate-tier Multiversal fell to one knee in the void, head lowered. ”That thing would have erased all of us. You... you pulled us back.”

Runar simply nodded once. He had no interest in prolonged thanks. With the immediate threat handled and the unexpected harvest secured, he turned and drifted back toward his original position outside William’s membrane. Golden light still faintly surrounded him as he closed his eyes and began the process of fully digesting everything he had just absorbed—the upgraded Principle of Devour, the stolen principles, the vast memories, and the enormous quantity of information particles that made up the dragon multiverse.

The sector remained in heavy silence.

Every being who had witnessed the event understood the same truth.

An Advanced-tier Void Devouring Dragon had been reduced to a test subject, systematically dismantled, and used as raw material for someone else’s comprehension. And the one who did it had treated the entire process as little more than a brief experiment.
