Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 231: Chapter 232: A New Kind of Existence

The last physical matter finished converting.

Runar’s body dissolved completely. Skin, bones, organs, every single galaxy-level cell turned into pure information particles. There was no pain, no tearing sensation. Only a deep, clean shift as everything that had been solid became something else. Something lighter. Something far vaster. It was as if the very concept of matter had been a temporary illusion, a crude scaffolding that had finally outlived its purpose. Layer by layer, his form unraveled—not in destruction, but in elegant ascension. Molecules gave way to data streams, atoms dissolved into quantum echoes, and even the densest cores of his cultivated energy condensed into shimmering lattices of pure information.

He felt his consciousness expand outward in every direction at once. Memories, instincts, and power that had once been confined to a single biological vessel now flowed freely through an infinite informational field. His heart—no longer a physical organ—beat with the rhythm of entire star systems. His thoughts resonated like gravitational waves, carrying the weight of eons. This was not death. This was rebirth on a scale that dwarfed every previous breakthrough he had endured.

The training dimension could no longer contain what he was becoming.

Cracks spread across its walls like glass breaking in slow motion. Fractures raced through reinforced spacetime, splintering the carefully engineered barriers that Willith had once designed to withstand the fury of peak cultivators. The dimension groaned under the pressure of his emerging existence, its laws bending and then shattering. The cracks grew wider, deeper, until the entire dimension exploded outward in a silent cataclysm. Pieces of reinforced space scattered into the void like dying embers, dissolving into nothingness before they could travel far. The feedback loop of collapsing reality sent ripples across adjacent dimensional layers, but Runar barely registered them. His focus remained inward, on the symphony of transformation playing within.

Now, Runar floated alone in the empty space between universes.

Complete darkness surrounded him. Complete silence. There was nothing in any direction—no stars, no light, no matter, no energy signatures. Just endless, perfect void. It was a realm untouched by the familiar cycles of creation and entropy that governed the universes he knew. Here, time itself seemed optional, a suggestion rather than a law. The absence pressed against him, not hostile, but indifferent in a way that would have driven lesser beings to madness.

He opened his eyes.

*Where the hell am I?*

The question echoed not through vocal cords but through the informational fabric of his new being. He looked around slowly. Nothing. Just void in every direction as far as even his new perception could reach. Yet ”seeing” no longer required eyes. His awareness extended like tendrils of pure data, probing the emptiness with a precision that made his old divine sense feel like a child’s toy. He closed his eyes again—not out of necessity, but habit—and reached out with his expanded senses.

Willith’s universe registered immediately—two trillion light years away. He noted the distance calmly, almost clinically. A standard universe was around one hundred billion light years across. Two trillion was very far by any normal standard, an incomprehensible gulf for anyone still bound by physical constraints. Yet to him, it felt... like a single step or thought. He reached further and found William’s universe in the opposite direction—trillions of trillions of trillions of light years away. The distance was almost beyond expression, a chasm that would have required countless lifetimes even for those Universal beings in his universe. The scale no longer intimidated him; it simply existed as data points in his expanded mind.

He muttered to himself, the words manifesting as gentle vibrations in the void, ”Looks like Willith threw me out during my breakthrough. Can’t blame her. The universe would have been destroyed if I’d completed it inside. I completely forgot about that. I was too focused on cultivation.”

A faint smile touched what remained of his conceptual form. How many times had he pushed boundaries like this? From the early days of refining qi at home to clashing against cosmic threats, every step had been one of calculated risk. But this... this was different. The information particles that now composed him hummed with potential. He could feel the foundational laws of reality woven into his essence—the way matter, energy, space, and time were no longer separate from him, but extensions of his will. He probed deeper into his own structure and marveled at the complexity. Multiverses worth of information compressed into a singular point of existence, yet infinitely expandable. No wonder the dimension had failed to contain him.

He also sensed other universes in the far distance—faint glowing structures, barely registering, but present. Some pulsed with vibrant life and chaotic energy, others stood cold and ancient, their membranes scarred by forgotten wars between multiversal entities. Willith’s universe was the only one close enough to be practical, a familiar beacon amid the infinite dark.

”Well,” he said quietly, his voice carrying further than sound should allow, ”The event should have started by now. Time to go.”

---

He considered his options with the detachment of a being who had transcended urgency.

Option one—fly back to Willith’s universe and use the wormhole to cross. Logical. Straightforward. Safe, even. It would take minimal effort and preserve his new strength for the challenges ahead.

Option two—open a new wormhole directly from the void to William’s universe. Possible, but wasteful. Tearing through the fabric of the multiverse so aggressively would leave traces, ripples that might alert unwanted observers or destabilize nearby realities.

Option three—direct flight to William’s universe. Trillions of trillions of light years. No wormhole. Pure speed.

He weighed them, turning each possibility over in his mind like examining flawless gems. The old Runar might have chosen caution. But the new Runar hungered for understanding. He wanted to know the limits—if any—of this new existence. What did true freedom from physicality feel like at its extremes?

He looked at option one. Then at option three.

He chose option three. He wanted to test his new speed.

---

He disappeared.

The void where he had been standing reacted violently. A shockwave exploded outward from that single point, radiating through the emptiness in every direction. The pressure wave propagated at speeds that defied conventional physics, warping the nothingness itself. Void beasts—massive, ancient creatures that dwelled in the space between universes—registered the pressure wave for a fraction of a second before they were obliterated. Behemoths the size of universes, beings that had survived the births and deaths of countless realities, simply ceased to exist before they could even react. Their ethereal forms disintegrated into informational dust, absorbed harmlessly into the wake of Runar’s passage.

Runar was already gone.

He moved through the void at a speed that had no meaning in normal terms. Universes appeared in his perception as he passed them—vast glowing structures separated by distances that would take normal cultivators millions of years to cross. He passed them in fractions of seconds. Each one registered as a unique signature: swirling vortices of creation, dense clusters of laws and matter, some radiating harmonious order, others flickering with the chaos of unchecked ambition. He could peer into their membranes if he wished, catching fleeting glimpses of civilizations rising and falling, gods waging wars, and cultivators striving toward the very breakthrough he had just achieved.

The journey was exhilarating. His informational body sliced through the inter-universal medium without resistance. No friction, no drag—only pure momentum born of will. He adjusted his trajectory instinctively, navigating around denser pockets of void energy that might have slowed lesser entities. Here and there, he sensed the remnants of ancient pathways—ruined bridges between realities built by long-extinct multiversal empires. They crumbled in his wake, too fragile for his presence.

Void beasts that occupied the gaps between universes—some of them universal-level threats capable of destroying entire civilizations—felt his passage as a brief pressure wave and then nothing. They were gone before they could register what had hit them. One colossal entity, a leviathan with tentacles spanning billions of light years and eyes that could swallow universes, attempted to turn toward the disturbance. Its ancient instincts screamed danger, but it was already too late. The wave reduced it to scattered data fragments, which Runar’s passage absorbed without conscious effort, adding negligible insights to his ever-growing repository of knowledge.

Picoseconds passed—or was it eons? Time bent strangely around him now. He experienced the journey as both instantaneous and eternal, a paradox that filled him with quiet wonder. Reflections surfaced unbidden: memories of his first steps on the path of cultivation, the friends and rivals left behind, the weight of responsibility that had driven him this far. William’s tournament awaited, a gathering of the multiverse’s finest. But Runar was no longer merely a participant. He had become something new—a bridge between the old ways and whatever came next.

He stopped.

William’s universe lay in front of him—vast, its membrane visible as a shimmering boundary in the void. The energy density on the other side registered clearly through his information perception. Layers of protective formations, intricate arrays of cosmic laws and principles, and the vibrant pulse of countless lives all painted a clear picture. He could feel William inside it, his presence steady and commanding. He could feel the wormhole connection to Willith’s universe on the far side, a stable tunnel humming with activity. He could feel the gathered beings from both universes, the tournament that had not started yet—all of it readable as clean information through the membrane. Anticipation, tension, curiosity... the emotions of the crowd washed over his senses like distant music.

Runar raised his hand—though ”hand” was now more conceptual than literal—and knocked on the universe membrane. The impact sent harmonious ripples across the boundary, respectful yet impossible to ignore.

His voice carried through the boundary, direct and calm, reaching William’s awareness and beyond.

”William. Open the door. I’m here.”

For a moment, the universe seemed to hold its breath. Then, the membrane began to part, responding to the authority of his new existence. Runar stepped forward, carrying with him the weight—and the limitless potential—of a new kind of being. The tournament, the multiverse, and whatever lay beyond would never be the same.
