Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 225: Chapter 226: Convergence

Two months had passed since the solar system completed its migration.

The wormhole remained steady and permanent, its silver-gold light shining across the testing dimension. Both Universal Wills had locked themselves into its foundation. It was no longer something that needed watching. It was simply there — a fixed bridge between two universes.

Life around it had started to feel normal again. People pointed at the wormhole and went back to their training. The academy continued its routines. The publications from Rene and Gaia kept coming, each one landing in the academic community with varying degrees of disruption depending on the subject matter. The announcement of the inter-universal exchange had been processed, debated, and converted into preparation schedules across every major sect and institution in the universe.

One month left.

Runar had been in his private training dimension for the entire two months.

He sat cross-legged in the center of the vast space, eyes closed, breathing slow and steady. The quantum brain chip worked without pause in the background. Ten percent of his consciousness focused on gathering energy. Ninety percent focused on comprehension.

The energy problem had been clear from the beginning. It wasn’t that energy itself was the bottleneck — Runar had never lacked for energy capacity. The issue was time. The amount of energy required for what he was planning was beyond what could be absorbed naturally in two months regardless of how hard he pushed. The universe contained enough energy for the attempt. His body simply could not pull it in fast enough through normal cultivation alone.

He needed a different approach.

He opened his system interface and checked his points balance. Two months of steady cultivation, Rule comprehension milestones, and the rewards from completing the migration had accumulated into a significant number. He sat with the catalogue for a while, the quantum chip cross-referencing each available item against the specific bottlenecks it had been tracking across his cellular map.

He bought carefully. Not quickly, not broadly — each purchase targeted a precise gap in the absorption rate. High-density universe-grade energy crystals for the cellular clusters that were falling furthest behind the average. Condensed origin essence to feed the Principle of Genesis comprehension directly. Three items he hadn’t known existed until the catalogue showed them to him, each one addressing a problem he had identified but hadn’t yet found a solution for.

The purchases emptied most of his points. The energy influx hit immediately — dense and rich and exactly what the bottleneck clusters needed.

It helped significantly. It was still not enough on its own.

He contacted Gaia through his chip. ”I need you to reach Eternal Scholar. Tell him I’m requesting universe-grade cultivation resources — as many as he can spare or source. I’ll explain when he arrives.”

He didn’t tell Gaia what the resources were for. He didn’t need to. Gaia passed the message without asking for clarification, which was one of the things he appreciated about working with her.

Eternal Scholar arrived less than an hour later.

He stepped into the training dimension carrying several spatial rings, which he had clearly prepared quickly — the sealing work on two of them was less refined than his usual standard, the mark of someone who had gathered things in a hurry rather than with his normal precision. He handed them to Runar without ceremony and then stayed, which Runar had expected.

Eternal Scholar sat down across from him.

He looked at the spatial rings Runar was already opening and reading the contents of, and he looked at Runar’s current state — the particular quality of someone who had been in deep cultivation for two months straight, the density of energy visible around him even at a casual glance — and he put it together quickly.

”Universe-grade resources,” he said. ”After two months of closed cultivation.” He paused. ”What are you attempting?”

Runar set one of the rings down and looked at him directly. There was no point in being indirect with Eternal Scholar. The man had been cultivating since before most current civilizations existed. He would draw the correct conclusion regardless of what Runar said.

”A double breakthrough,” Runar said. ”Universal Realm and Multiversal Realm in a single attempt.”

Eternal Scholar was quiet.

Not the quiet of someone processing unexpected information — the quiet of someone who had heard something they had considered theoretically possible and were now recalibrating around the fact that someone in front of them was actually planning to do it.

”Two internal universes merging,” he said eventually. It wasn’t a question. He was confirming his understanding of the mechanism.

”Yes. The universal seed blooms into the tree — first crossing. Then the second universe forms and the merger carries me through to Multiversal.”

”And you believe you have the foundation for it.”

”The Rule count is sufficient. The soul composition after the merger with Orion removed the instability that would normally make this impossible. The cellular base is the remaining variable.” Runar gestured at the spatial rings. ”With what you brought, I’m close.”

Eternal Scholar looked at him for a long moment. ”I have studied cultivation for longer than I can usefully measure,” he said. ”I have never seen this done.”

”I know.”

”That is not me saying it cannot be done.”

”I know that too.”

Another silence. Eternal Scholar looked at the spatial rings, looked at Runar, and then stood.

”The resources are yours,” he said. ”Use them well.” He moved toward the door, then stopped without turning around. ”When the exchange opens — whatever level you’ve reached by then — don’t hold back in the early rounds. The beings from William’s universe will read restraint as weakness and adjust accordingly. Show them your ceiling immediately.”

He left.

Runar sat with that for a moment, then began integrating the resources.

The integration took three hours.

The quantum chip managed the routing — pulling energy from the spatial rings and directing it precisely to the clusters that needed it most, balancing the absorption rate across his entire cellular structure to prevent the uneven development that caused instability in breakthroughs at this level. Each of his cells had to reach galaxy-level power individually. Not the body as a whole. Each cell, on its own.

The chip’s current map showed 67% of his cells at or above the threshold. The resources from the system purchases and Eternal Scholar’s delivery pushed that number steadily upward as the integration ran. By the end of the three hours it sat at 79%.

Closer. Not there yet.

He settled back into his cultivation rhythm.

Ten percent of his consciousness on energy gathering. Ninety percent on comprehension.

The ten percent ran almost automatically now — the chip had been managing the energy absorption long enough that the process had become efficient, the bottleneck clusters identified and prioritized, the rate optimized to the maximum his body could sustain without forcing the absorption faster than the cellular structure could safely handle. He checked in on it periodically and adjusted the routing when the chip flagged something that needed a decision. Mostly it ran without him.

The ninety percent went to the Principle of Genesis.

He had been holding this principle since before the migration. He understood its surface layer well — the logic of creation, the relationship between origin and expression, the way things came into being from the interaction of fundamental forces. That understanding had been sufficient to grasp the principle initially and had been deepening steadily in the two months since.

But principles were not flat. They had depth. The surface comprehension was a door, and what was behind the door was the actual principle, and behind that was another door, and so on. He had been walking deeper into it for two months and the doors kept appearing.

He pushed further now. Stopped looking at what he already understood and looked at what was directly past the current edge of it. The principle resisted in the way that deep comprehension always resisted — not blocking, just not giving itself up easily. It had to be approached from multiple angles simultaneously, each angle revealing a different facet, the full picture assembling gradually as the facets accumulated.

He pushed from another angle. Then another.

The depth of it was considerable. Two months of dedicated attention had not reached the bottom and he did not expect the next month to reach it either. But every layer he added to the comprehension strengthened the foundation for the breakthrough. The principle didn’t need to be complete for the attempt. It needed to be deep enough.

He pressed that question and arrived at the same answer he had been arriving at for two weeks: almost.

And at the edge of all this, in the space between one angle of comprehension and the next, something else was forming.

The Principle of Elements.

He had first noticed it three weeks ago. A pattern at the boundary of his Genesis comprehension — the way fundamental forces interacted at the moment of creation, the logic that governed which elements emerged from which conditions, the relationship between the origin of things and the nature of what they became. He had brushed against it repeatedly without being able to hold it. It slipped sideways every time he pushed directly at it.

But it was taking shape. The way all principles took shape — slowly, under sustained attention, completing itself on a schedule that didn’t respond to urgency. He could see the outline of it now clearly enough to approach it deliberately rather than waiting for it to surface on its own.

He was on the verge. The shape was there. The content was still forming.

He turned his comprehension toward it and held it there — not forcing, just present, maintaining contact with the edge of it and letting the understanding accumulate at its own pace.

The energy percentage climbed. 81%. 82%.

The Principle of Genesis deepened another layer.

The Principle of Elements held its shape at the edge of his perception, neither completing nor dissolving, waiting for the comprehension to catch up to what it already knew it was.

One month left.

Runar stayed in the center of his training dimension, eyes closed, breathing slow and steady, and pushed everything he had into the two things that mattered.

The exchange would come when it came.

He would be ready or he would be where he was. Either way he wasn’t stopping.
