Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 237: Chapter 238: Aftermath

Runar and Wukong stepped back through the large portal into William’s universe. The moment their figures appeared above the viewing platform, the entire massive venue grew noticeably quieter. The billions of beings who had been watching the live broadcast of the Multiversal spar were still trying to process what they had just witnessed. The roaring noise that usually filled the arena had dropped to a low, respectful murmur. People spoke in hushed tones, as if raising their voices might disturb the lingering weight of the battle they had seen in the void.

William rose from his central seat. His eyes scanned both Runar and Wukong carefully. He checked for any signs of damage to their Information Lifeform bodies, any unstable energy leaks, or any dangerous ripples that might have affected the nearby space. Seeing that both of them looked completely fine and that the distant void remained undisturbed, William allowed himself a small, barely noticeable sigh of relief. He said nothing out loud. That silence itself was his way of commenting — a quiet acknowledgment that they had respected his warning.

Runar walked calmly back to the central viewing area where his family waited. Celestia, Cassia, and Nyla were seated together, their eyes still fixed on the holographic displays even though the spar had ended.

Cassia had her notebook open on her lap. She had filled nearly ten pages with detailed notes, diagrams of principle interactions, and quick sketches of key moments from the fight. She looked up at Runar with a calm, proud smile. ”Your control over the Principle of Eternity was beautiful. The way you slowed his transformations without breaking them... I have so many questions for later.”

Nyla, full of youthful energy, practically bounced in her seat. She grabbed Runar’s sleeve the moment he sat down. ”That was so cool! When Wukong turned into that giant dragon made of lightning, I thought he might actually hit you! How did you already know every single move he was going to make? Can you teach me even a small piece of the Principle of Radiance? Please? And what did it feel like when you used all four principles together? Did the void really bend like it looked on the broadcast?”

Runar laughed warmly and gently patted her head. ”Slow down, Nyla. One question at a time. Yes, I could read most of his intentions through Radiance. The Principle of Truth helped me see what was real and what was an illusion. With enough time and practice, you’ll start seeing things the same way. I promise I’ll teach you more when we have quiet time after the tournament.”

Celestia remained quiet for a long moment. She simply looked at Runar with deep, loving eyes. Her gaze held pride, relief, and a touch of playful scolding. She reached out and took his hand, squeezing it firmly. The warmth of her touch said everything words could not — how glad she was that he returned safely, how proud she was of his strength, and how much she loved the man who carried such overwhelming power yet still came back to them as a gentle husband and father.

”You were magnificent,” she said softly, her voice only for him. ”But next time, maybe give us a little warning before you go spar with someone who just became a full Information Lifeform. My heart almost stopped when Wukong pushed you back those few steps.”

Runar smiled and lifted her hand to kiss it lightly. ” He didnt actually push me back, I intentionally stapped back to give him some motivation, but I’ll try to remember that next time. I enjoyed the fight more than I expected. Wukong has real heart.”

”You rascal, but anyways it gave him the motivation he needed.”

The four of them shared a brief, warm moment together. For a short while, the noise of the venue faded into the background as the family simply enjoyed being close.

Meanwhile, Wukong did not return to the main viewing area. As soon as they stepped out of the portal, he sent a direct mental message to Runar.

’Going into seclusion immediately. Don’t let anyone disturb me for the next few days.’

’Understood,’ Runar replied instantly. ’Take all the time you need.’

’Also tell William that his universe absorbed my breakthrough without any trouble. That actually impressed this old monkey.’

Runar relayed the message to William. The ruler of the universe tried to keep his face neutral, but a small spark of quiet pride appeared in his eyes. He gave a single nod and said nothing more, though it was clear the compliment pleased him.

Wukong flew away from the crowded venue and found a quiet, empty region of stabilized space. He created a simple isolation barrier around himself and immediately entered deep seclusion. This was the most precious time after a major breakthrough. He focused on stabilizing his new Information Lifeform body, fully integrating the complete Rule of Boundless Metamorphosis, and carefully processing every insight he had gained from sparring with Runar. He knew from centuries of experience that the hours and days right after such a jump were when the foundation could be strengthened the most.

Back at the venue, the five half-step Multiversal observers returned through their smaller portal. The crowd near the arrival point instinctively moved back, giving them plenty of space. These five carried a noticeably different presence now. Their auras felt deeper, sharper, and more refined after witnessing a true Multiversal exchange up close.

Kael was the last to step through. He stood motionless for several long seconds, his eyes distant as he processed everything. His cultivation base had not reached a new realm, but it felt far more solid and structured. The previous gaps in his understanding had been partially filled with fresh, profound insights.

William looked at him directly. ”Well?”

Kael stayed silent for a moment, then spoke in a calm but awed voice. ”Everything I thought was the absolute ceiling of cultivation... was only the starting line.”

William nodded slowly, satisfied with the answer.

The other four observers reacted in their own ways. One female observer from Willith’s side sat down right away and closed her eyes to meditate and consolidate her gains. Another began quietly discussing fragments of the principles he had witnessed with the cultivators seated nearest to him. The material they had absorbed was incredibly valuable, and none of them wanted to waste it.

A few hours later.

The return of the five observers seemed to ignite something in the rest of the powerful beings present. Many half-step Multiversal experts from both universes had spent hours watching the tournament matches and the Multiversal broadcast. After absorbing so many high-level principle expressions, they reached the same conclusion almost simultaneously.

They should test themselves against each other.

The challenge spread naturally across the divide. No grand announcement was needed. These powerful beings simply communicated their intent directly. A group of half-step Multiversal fighters from both sides moved toward the edge of the venue. William opened another large portal leading into the void, carefully positioned far from both universe membranes.

William personally recorded the entire half-step battle session. He created multiple high-quality viewing constructs and broadcast the fights live across both universes so everyone could watch.

The half-step battles turned out very differently from what most people had expected.

In the regular tournament matches below, William’s side had won the majority of fights through superior raw power, mechanical advantage and divine abilities. But at the half-step Multiversal level, that advantage was no longer the deciding factor.

Several intense fights took place in the void. In one match, a proud ancient god from William’s side — a being with a powerful divine ability carrying traces of the Principle of Dominion — faced a half-step cultivator from Willith’s universe. The ancient god attacked with overwhelming force, his divine ability flaring with golden authority that tried to suppress his opponent. For the first few exchanges, it looked like William’s side would dominate again.

But the Willith fighter responded with precise, deeply comprehended Pseudo Principles. He dismantled the suppression technique piece by piece, using superior understanding of how principles interacted. His techniques were not as flashy, but they were far more efficient and targeted. After a long, hard struggle, the Willith fighter won cleanly.

In another fight, a powerful half-step being from William’s side with strong energy density and galaxy-level foundations was completely outmaneuvered. His opponent from Willith used subtle rule applications to turn the raw power against itself, winning through technique and comprehension rather than brute force.

The crowd watching through the broadcasts reacted strongly.

On William’s side, many voices rose in surprise.

”Wow... this came as a real surprise,” one senior cultivator muttered loudly. ”Our team has been winning the majority of the battles all day, but the half-step team is getting completely dominated right now.”

Another fighter from the combat majority shook his head. ”Their rule comprehension is just deeper. We have the power advantage, but they know exactly how to use what they have. We need to fix this.”

A young genius nearby added, ”Look at how that Willith fighter used his rule to redirect the divine ability trace. That’s not something we train enough.”

The academic minority were writing notes furiously, already discussing ways to incorporate the new techniques they were seeing.

On Willith’s side, the reaction was one of cautious pride.

”We actually have the advantage at this level,” one Supreme said with visible satisfaction. ”All that time spent deepening our comprehension in a weaker universe is finally paying off.”

Another expert nodded. ”The power gap is real, but comprehension can bridge it at the right realm. This exchange is proving more valuable than we hoped.”

William watched the results with a calm but thoughtful expression. He was not upset — if anything, he looked intrigued. The data from these fights would help strengthen his universe’s cultivators in the long run.

Willith’s projection remained neutral, but a faint trace of satisfaction could be seen in her eyes.

Through all of this, Runar had not stopped working. His perception stayed spread across the entire venue and the void battles. The half-step fights provided principle expressions at a perfect middle depth — useful fragments that filled gaps left by both the regular tournament and his own spar with Wukong.

He quietly added to his internal catalogue. The Principle of Metamorphosis received significant new seeds, strengthened by Wukong’s earlier display and now by the half-step battles. He ran quick calculations through his near-infinite computational ability. With three more days remaining in the exchange, he would leave with seed material for many more principles than he currently had fully comprehended. Turning those seeds into complete principles would take dedicated time later, but the raw material was beyond valuable.

He settled back comfortably, still observing everything with calm focus.

Celestia glanced at him from beside him. She recognized that deep, working expression immediately. She said nothing, simply staying close and offering quiet support. After a while, she turned back to the broadcast feed of the half-step battles and thought to herself, ’Three more days... Then we can finally be a normal family again. I miss Mom. I need to tell Runar that once everything settles down, we should visit both of our parents.’

The atmosphere in the venue slowly shifted into a new kind of energy. The tournament continued with renewed excitement. The half-step battles had shown everyone clearly that both universes had unique strengths. The exchange was no longer just competition — it had become a powerful platform for mutual growth.

Later, as one of the final regular matches concluded, William stood up. His voice echoed clearly across the entire venue.

”The events of today have shown us many valuable truths. Tomorrow we will finish the final rounds and distribute the prepared rewards. After that, there will be a private meeting for a select few of us.”

His eyes met Runar’s for a brief moment. The true purpose behind this grand multiversal exchange was only beginning to unfold.

Runar returned the look with a faint, knowing smile. He was ready for whatever came next.
