High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2384: Chapter 605: Less and Less Time

”The Trident Sword belongs to the Alliance, not the school; the relevant department refers to the school’s department, not the department of the Alliance.”

Su Shijun first said something a little awkward but easy to understand, then smiled and glanced at the boy: ”In other words, has anyone from the school or the Alliance reported your talisman bullets for being related to forbidden curses?”

By this time, the sky had already brightened, and a ray of sunlight outside shone through the tall windows and spacious hall, falling right on the witch, making her face somewhat obscure.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but squint his eyes and looked down at the contract he had just signed.

Indeed, just like this transaction, from the beginning to the end, the Trident Sword never questioned the source of those talisman bullets but strictly limited the transaction to the finished talisman bullets.

”The so-called ’if the people don’t report, the officers don’t pursue’ is what this means.”

Su Shijun’s voice came from the dazzling sunlight, as if it had become much more blurred: ”Does the relevant department know about your connection with forbidden curses? Naturally, they know, otherwise, they wouldn’t have taken away your black cat. But since the department hasn’t controlled you, it means they consider the risk of spreading forbidden curses at your level to be limited. This also means that organizations or institutions coveting forbidden curses have a certain degree of connection with you, which is within the permissible range of the rules.

Of course, by saying this, I’m not implying that the Trident Sword harbors ambitions for mastering forbidden curses... They might not have such courage. However, they do have the courage to slightly profit from the power related to forbidden curses under the guise of risk control. This isn’t a bad thing because with them taking the front line, it will be less easy for other institutions within the Alliance to trouble you on this matter in the future.”

Zheng Qing gently breathed a sigh of relief while clutching the thin contract in his hand.

He never expected that just a simple transaction of buying and selling talisman bullets would hide such a winding and subtle game behind it. Or perhaps, for those who walk with trouble, no event is simple.

Outside, faint chirping could be heard.

It seemed to be the voice of the little fox lady taking Poseidon for a walk.

Zheng Qing stood up and looked out, vaguely seeing Su Ya facing down Poseidon and a Flower Sprite at the fence. The Flower Sprite was likely attracted by the heavenly beauty of the small garden and wanted to enter, but Su Ya firmly refused, while Poseidon wanted to be merciful, causing the two little foxes to argue endlessly.

”... One radish, one pit... Sister Man said the garden can’t support so many elves. If you let her in, you’ll have to drive another out, or watch a flower wither...”

”... Chirp... Chirp chirp chirp chirp...”

”... Radish? Radishes are sweet, crunchy, red, finger-sized things... Tasty when raw, not good when cooked...”

”Chirp chirp... Chirp chirp...”

”Even if you beg me, it won’t help... This is related to environmental capacity; do you know what that is? There’s a lot to learn there... So you should study well to avoid knowing nothing later.”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing inexplicably felt a bit embarrassed, never expecting that the usually naive-looking Su Ya could handle matters to such an extent, much better than him.

A small green paper crane flapped its wings, surrounded by a wisp of smoke, appearing vividly in front of Zheng Qing, swaying and capturing the boy’s attention.

It took only a second for Zheng Qing to recognize it as the paper crane that Su Shijun had snatched away earlier. There were still a few scattered words left on its wings, with a ’big’ character on the left wing and ’cut cut’ tilted on the right wing.

The warlock, quick on his feet, caught it in one swift movement.

The paper crane, having been dismantled once, had lost its previous struggling energy and naturally lay in the boy’s palm, voluntarily unfolding its body.

Zheng Qing noticed that this time it had been folded into a paper crane in reverse.

The memo line on the back of the letter was still clear; however, on the front of the letter, there was an additional line of delicate, elegant calligraphy — ”Detailed Explanation of Talisman Construction”, ”The Structure Characteristics of Exorcism Amulet Bullets and Seventeen Methods of Making”, ”Classical Alchemy Theory Series: Talisman Design Theory”, ”Secret Technique” (allowed to borrow, Su Shijun).

The book titles at the beginning were self-explanatory; presumably, the witch wanted him to supplement his studies on talisman bullet making for the Trident Sword transaction, but the last one, especially the particularly unique phrase, left Zheng Qing a bit puzzled.

”What’s this?” Holding the green letter paper, he turned back with a lack of confidence, looking towards the owner of Greenhill Mansion.

Su Shijun was stretching her arms, gracefully yawning.

”Oh, I have those books in my study; you can go take a look,” she said, lowering her eyelids, covering her small mouth, and yawning lightly: ”During this winter break, while you still have some free time, systematically study talisman bullet making again, in case the talisman bullets you make are not attractive and get laughed at by those guys from the Trident Sword... For anything you don’t understand, you can directly find Su Man, and she will take you to consult the most professional talisman bullet maker in Qingqiu.”

”What about this last one...”

Ignoring his embarrassment, Zheng Qing thickened his skin and raised the letter paper, hesitatingly asking.

The witch’s lips curled slightly, and she turned to walk outside the hall without leaving the boy hanging: ”The last one is ’Qingqiu Secret Method’, I have opened the part related to talisman bullet sealing techniques for you to reference... to prevent you from being overly suspicious... Take my note to the study, and those books will find you themselves.”

”What about you?” Zheng Qing, grateful, blurted out unwittingly.

No sooner had he spoken than he regretted his recklessness.

The owner of Greenhill Mansion stopped, turned back, and with a trace of confusion in her eyes: ”Me? Of course, I’m going to catch up on sleep! Don’t you know that sleep is the best beauty magic?”

She glanced outside as she spoke and added: ”Oh right, it looks like Su Ya and Dong Dong have finished their stroll... You are still responsible for supervising Dong Dong’s lessons today. Don’t let her slack off.”

With that, she continued walking out without looking back, waving as if expressing not to be disturbed further.

As the witch’s dress was about to disappear around the corner.

Relieved, the boy started to worry about the vanishing happy days of the remaining vacation.

But before he could let out half a breath, Su Shijun’s figure unexpectedly retreated a bit, pausing at the edge of Zheng Qing’s view by the corner, tilting her head to look at him, startling the boy into holding his breath:

”Almost forgot, there’s one more thing... There’s still some time before the holiday ends, and I think you can start checking the required and elective courses for the second and third years in advance and finalize your schedule before the new term starts. Since even the Trident Sword has come knocking, the time this world allows you to be an irresponsible student is running out...”

The sound lingered.

This time, the witch truly disappeared.
