High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2368: Chapter 589: How to Handle a Puppy-Like Boy

The ’general situation’ deduced through divination isn’t ’accurate information.’ Due to the scant clues and lack of catching the perpetrator red-handed, the Big Wizards ultimately could only conclude that there might have been remnants of the Crow Organization causing trouble at the banquet.

This ’might’ is quite subtle.

According to Xin Fat Man’s private analysis, it’s more likely that the school and Trident Sword tend to believe that the Crow Organization has already been completely eradicated and don’t want this matter to continue to escalate.

After an unproductive field inspection, Zheng Qing was urgently sent to the school hospital.

He originally thought he could luckily rest in the hospital for a while, but after therapists carefully examined him and confirmed that the male was very healthy, Lady Bella unceremoniously threw him out of the hospital.

”Huh? So soon!”

Downstairs, the young cost student encountered Xin Fat Man, who had just visited Xiao Xiao and was about to return to the dormitory. The fat wizard held two candied haws in his hand, looking at Zheng Qing in surprise: ”I thought you’d at least stay in the hospital for one night...”

”Lady Bella thinks that’s a waste of the school’s medical resources,” the male sighed dejectedly.

”Don’t you have insurance? Isn’t that what insurance is for?” The fat wizard mumbled, taking a bite of hawthorn, his voice muffled: ”Speaking of which, you’ve been visiting the hospital a lot less this past half-year. It seems demon hunting is indeed very helpful for physical training... What did the therapists say?”

His topic jumping was somewhat frequent, but it didn’t prevent Zheng Qing from understanding.

Zheng Qing instinctively touched his ear.

Although he had recently been internally mocking the aesthetic bias of that little green snake, he had to admit that its presence had kept the Forbidden Spell aura completely under control for the past six months, allowing him to feel a long-lost sense of relaxation.

”Nothing could be detected.” Zheng Qing briefly described the examination process.

”Not surprising,” the fat man nodded, then took another bite of hawthorn, his lips covered with fine sugar granules, looking like he’d applied a layer of lipstick: ”The Big Wizards at the banquet, while not professional therapists, are very familiar with most detection magic... They couldn’t find any anomalies, so it’s normal for the school hospital not to find anything... Could it be that you were just overly stressed?”

”You mean delusion? Impossible. My molar was painfully bruised by that Copper Bean, and my tongue was bitten, just a little, so how could it be an illusion!”

The two squabbled all the way to a crossroad.

The left led outside the school, while the right led to Dormitory Hill at the back.

Zheng Qing gradually slowed his pace.

”Bruised by a bean? Want a piggyback?” The fat wizard cast a sidelong glance at the young cost student, obviously blaming him for walking so slowly.

Zheng Qing chuckled dryly: ”I suddenly remembered, about the bean, I can ask the gentleman at the bookstore... You go back to the dormitory first... Uh, no need to leave the door open for me. If it’s too late, I’ll stay at a friend’s house outside.”

”I don’t recall you having other friends in Beta Town,” the fat wizard squinted his eyes, suddenly giving off a sharp look.

”Ah, I do... By the way, where did you get the candied haws?” Zheng Qing pretended not to see the fat man’s suspicious look, striving to appear nonchalant and explained to himself: ”My family’s gentleman keeps a cat who loves these sweet snacks...”

”You never mentioned it before.” Mentioning food made the fat wizard instantly forget the suspicion from a few seconds ago. He fiercely glared at the male but ultimately gave him the other intact one: ”This was given to the Doctor by Teacher Sima, I secretly took out two... Here, you get the strawberry one as I ate the hawthorn one.”

He reluctantly handed it to the young cost student. That look made Zheng Qing suspect that if he were a bit slower in reaching for it, the fat wizard might stretch his neck to take another bite.

”Thanks, thanks.” Zheng Qing swiftly grabbed the candied haws and disappeared at the crossroads, fearing the fat man might grab him and ask nerve-wracking questions.

He had reasons to be cautious.

Because the primary destination of this trip was Greenhill Mansion.

The ’suggestion’ Su Shijun made at the banquet was no joke. She was smiling quite ’seriously’ at the time, leaving a deep impression on the young cost student. He had reason to worry that if he really dared to ’stay out all night,’ an annoyed Upper House Member might be whimsically throw a lightning bolt at him, leaving him charred in front of everyone’s eyes, or directly draw a curse circle, blowing up the remaining few brains of his Nightmare Doll beside his pillow.

Of course, making a trip to San You Bookstore along the way was also necessary.

The pedestrian street during winter break didn’t have many visitors, especially at night, with even fewer pedestrians. Zheng Qing wasn’t in the mood for shopping either, so he put on his Armor Horse Charm and flew like the wind to number ninety-nine on the pedestrian street.

The window display was pitch-black, no sign of a cat, let alone a person. He craned his neck to take a look at the neighboring number ninety-seven D&K, which had also closed early.

Looks like he could only come again tomorrow.

The male sighed silently, took out his pocket watch, glanced at the time, and then sprinted off in the direction of Greenhill Mansion. Greenhill Mansion is in the West District of Beta Town, quite a distance from the pedestrian street.

At nine fifty-seven in the evening.

Zheng Qing stood panting outside the fence of Greenhill Mansion.

Su Man, the head maid of the mansion, stood at the entrance across a small stream, bathing in the cold wind and starlight, like a jade sculpture. Perhaps being blown by the cold wind for too long, just a glance made Zheng Qing feel his eyes pierced by the cold emanating from the head maid’s entire body.

”So-Sorry!”

The young wizard rushed to the door, gasping apologetically: ”I went to the school hospital, then to the bookstore... so I’m late, really sorry!”

The ’jade sculpture’ slowly raised her eyelids, and the chill immediately dispersed.

”No worries.”

The head maid’s tone was as calm as usual, nodding slightly to the warlock, then turning to walk inside the mansion while gesturing for the warlock to follow: ”Staying inside too long, getting out to catch some wind is good for mental health... The mansion locks at ten, you’re not late... Careful, don’t get too close to that forsythia, there’s a Flower Sprite who just became a mother hiding underneath it, she’s been very irritable lately, getting woken at night can easily cause chaos in the garden... The lady is watching Dong Dong sleep, you can wait for her in her study.”

As she spoke, the head maid led the male through dark paths, winding corridors, bypassing the flower hall and reception room, and eventually arriving at Su Shijun’s study.

”Want something to drink?”

”N-No need, it’s already late... I’ll wait a moment, then go rest.”

”Okay.” The head maid gave a slight bow and quietly left after making her salute.

Zheng Qing stood dumbfounded for a few seconds before realizing he didn’t need to be so constrained. It wasn’t his first time here. He wandered around the study, eyeing the dizzying array of titles on the bookshelf, and ultimately gave up on pulling a book to pass the time.

Then he wandered over to Su Shijun’s desk.

A book was lying face down open on the table.

The book was small, roughly thirty-two mo, very much like an elementary school textbook. On the spine of the book, a line of colorful, cartoonish titles clearly caught the eye of the young cost student—

”How to Deal with a Puppy,” by Yin Zhenya, a senior emotional expert and romance master from the Werewolf Clan.

Perhaps sensing someone was reading, several strings of pink bubbles floated over the spine from the book’s cover and back, forming into flowers of varying sizes, blossoming before the male’s eyes one by one.

Zheng Qing gasped, stepping back with a start, nearly sitting on the floor.
