High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2354: Chapter 575: One Minute of Truce

Only a great wizard can truly confront a great wizard.

This old saying is absolutely true.

Outside the faint projection of the Gold Mountain, three seemingly small figures hovered in front of that wrinkled, goat-like ancient face, confronting hundreds of scarlet eyes. Although they seemed like tiny mosquitoes, their aura was not at all diminished.

Stalwart and unyielding.

This was the only phrase that surfaced in Zheng Qing’s mind.

”Knowing that you have trouble here, the school surely wouldn’t just send us small fries to die.”

Hilda crouched in front of Zheng Qing, examining the young wizard’s face as he gradually regained some color. Her gaze slid to the jade pendant clutched in the boy’s hand, noting the small rotating Nine-Tail mark in its corner. She raised an eyebrow and turned to Thomas: ”I told you before, we shouldn’t have come to rescue this brat... Look at this, Su Councilor’s jade pendant! And Professor Yao’s talisman! Hey!”

Zheng Qing pretended not to hear the sour tone in her voice.

”Who are those people...” the young scholarship student tentatively asked, looking at Thomas.

”The one in the black robe is Mr. Simon, the vice-president of Starry Sky Academy. The witch beside him is Sister Margaret, vice-president of Atlas, and the man in the grey robe of the School Works Committee is Mr. Qian Jiuzhou, also quite recognizable,” Thomas answered simply. ”They are on duty at the school this period... so they came to take a look.”

Zheng Qing was not familiar with the names Thomas mentioned, only having seen them in newspapers and some school correspondence. At this moment, even through the hazy projection of the Gold Mountain, they weren’t clear, but their conversation with the gigantic figure was clearly audible—

”Black wizard Walter, a B-level wanted person, has violated the Alliance’s first-degree murder, conducted Black Magic rituals, forced sacrifices, illegally detained, stolen magic knowledge, and committed nine crimes against ’The Code.’ He also violated First University Management Regulations by illegally invading Silent Forest, setting up a lab, and conducting unreported magic experiments. You are now under arrest. Please cooperate with our investigation, surrender the law book, and keep your hands where we can see them.”

Mr. Simon, standing in the center of the three, spoke with a small but extremely solemn and earnest voice: ”...You have one minute to surrender your law book. This is Buji Island. Please do not make unnecessary resistance.”

Zheng Qing looked up, dazedly listening to the warning.

Then he turned and glanced at the two assistants.

”Don’t look at me, ordinary wizards don’t get such treatment,” Hilda muttered softly, ”That’s how this world works; as long as your fists are big enough... Speaking of which, old Walter? If I’m not mistaken, he was just a registered wizard before... So that strange singing earlier was the phenomenon when he advanced to a great wizard?”

There was a hint of amazement in her voice.

Thomas rubbed the law book in his hand, looking up with a similarly puzzled face: ”Theoretically, such phenomena only occur with very special wizards advancing... But if he was really that special, he shouldn’t have stayed at the registered wizard rank for so long, and after falling to a black wizard, he couldn’t break through for a long time...”

”Does this mean the Ravens’ bloodline research has made significant progress?” Xiao Xiao’s voice came from behind the three, as Zheng Qing turned back to see several other hunters of the Absolution closing in with the two assistants.

”Ha!”

The captain of the Red Training Hunting Team, a tall witch, approached with her team, sneering at those words: ”Is that why they gave him a minute? Pointless greed... How many of you are there? Any extra magic potions?”

The last sentence was directed at Thomas.

It was clear the two had a good relationship in the assistant team, so they spoke very casually.

”Three great wizards with three hunting teams,” Thomas tossed her a bottle of light blue magic potion, pointing to two other directions, ”The other two are also School Works Committee hunting teams.”

”Any extra fu bullets?” The captain glanced at Zheng Qing.

The warlock quickly fished out a box of ordinary fu bullets from his pocket, handing them over carefully explaining: ”These are all hand-rolled by me... the effect might not be as potent as yours.”

”Thanks, send an expense report to the school later,” the witch patted his shoulder, a smile crossing her face: ”Absolution, right? An excellent hunting team, very resilient and courageous... If you were in my practical class, you’d get full marks next semester without attending.”

”Cough, cough!”

”Cough, cough, cough!”

Thomas and Hilda coughed loudly simultaneously, the witch rolled her eyes, indifferent. On the side, Xin Fat Man wore a regretful expression as if lamenting narrowly missing full marks.

”Right, Absolution’s mission ends here, you can withdraw early,” Thomas seemed to have just realized something, his gaze sweeping over a few young wizards: ”...Leave the rest to us.”

”Is it necessary?”

The captain, holding a new charm gun, was carefully adjusting the ratio of purification, exorcism, and demon-breaking fu bullets in the magazine, glanced at Thomas.

”Old Walter is a madman.” Hilda uncommonly serious: ”I guess most likely negotiations will fall apart... This battlefield is too dangerous for them.”

”The world outside the quilt is dangerous for children,” the witch moved the gun’s bolt, watching the magic runes on the gun’s body light up in succession, nodding with satisfaction, then pointed at Zheng Qing: ”Is it because of danger that they shouldn’t leave the campus?”

Zheng Qing felt he should give this dashing young lady another box of fu bullets.

”Absolution team is executing the Trident Sword mission,” he reminded several assistants of jurisdictional authority, emphasizing: ”And we are a formally registered hunting team, participated in the Battle of the Black Prison... We’ve seen scarier existences than great wizards.”

Thomas and Hilda exchanged glances in silence.

”Can you still set up the Second Rank battle array?” he finally confirmed.

”No problem!” Xin Fat Man interrupted, patting his chest, a layer of blue glow emerging on his face, vowing to the assistants, ”I’ll host the array core, absolutely no problem...”

Boom!

Crack!

The sky and earth trembled simultaneously, interrupting the minor dispute among the hunting teams. The captains collectively looked up, unsurprisingly seeing the scene after negotiations broke down—a few thick tentacles emerged from beneath the black wizard’s robe, pound heavily on the glow of the Gold Mountain. Although it couldn’t break the protective barrier, it clearly demonstrated its stance.

”Hands up?”

Walter’s face, with hundreds of eyes blinking in succession, exuded malice and mockery, his tentacle-filled chin quivering slightly, voice hoarse and cold: ”I have so many arms, so many hands... Which one do you want me to raise?”
