High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2267: Chapter 488: There’s Something Seriously Wrong with Your Gifts

After leaving Huck Brothers Watch Shop, Zheng Qing couldn’t bother to eat lunch and went straight back to the dormitory.

While still on the road, he hastily sent a paper crane to Li Meng, using a newly signed photo of Su Shijun as bait, requesting the little witch to help collect a strand of Jiang Yu’s hair.

The warlock’s promise evidently gave Li Meng a huge motivation.

When he returned to the dormitory, the sound of a paper crane pecking at the window echoed from the balcony. Inside the paper crane that the little witch sent back was a strand of jet-black hair.

”If you break your promise, Merlin will punish you!!!”

Li Meng drew three big exclamation marks in the reply, clearly conveying the threat. Zheng Qing sneered, carefully put away the hair, and tossed the letter aside.

It’s just a photo, he wouldn’t break his word, next time he goes to Greenhill Mansion, he’ll snatch one from Su Shijun’s study. If worse comes to worst, getting Poseidon to help steal one isn’t hard either.

Then he walked to the bed to see what gift Su Shijun had sent. Pulling open the curtains, a large pile of gifts tumbled from his bed with a clatter, like an out-of-control mudslide.

”How can there be so many?!”

The warlock exclaimed.

”You should have some self-awareness.” The fat wizard approached, holding Tuan Tuan, puffing his cheeks like a giant toad and spewing venom: ”By the way, apart from gifts from acquaintances, I wouldn’t advise you to open other people’s gifts in the dormitory... You’d better choose an auspicious day and find a safer place.”

Zheng Qing silently rolled his eyes.

”I’m not stupid.”

He sneered, quickly sorting through the pile of gifts, soon picking out the gift boxes from friends, yet he began to frown.

Because besides familiar faces like Su Shijun, Korma, and Lin Guo, he also received gifts from Sir Friedman, Sepulano, and Andrew Taylor.

Xin Fat Man obviously also saw the name cards on the gift boxes.

”They probably wouldn’t curse you or play pranks in the gifts.” The fat wizard stroked the fat cat’s chin, nodded very sincerely, then shook his head: ”Hmm, except for Andrew Taylor, that little wolf cub... Did you reconcile with them at the Under the Moon ball?”

He looked suspiciously at the young scholarship student.

”No, don’t ask, I don’t know why either.”

Zheng Qing pushed the ’strangers’’ gifts aside—regarding the gifts from the Blood Comrades bigwigs, he had some uncertain guesses, mostly revolving around Su Shijun’s ’smart people’ theory. Only now, he’s really pressed for time and didn’t have the leisure to play guessing games here.

The remaining three gifts, one from Lin Guo, who is the only Alpha in the Absolution Hunting Team, everyone in the team received his Christmas gift; one from Korma, a square large box particularly eye-catching; and one from Greenhill Mansion.

Zheng Qing first opened Lin Guo’s box.

Inside rolled out something resembling a glass top. Zheng Qing found it familiar, but couldn’t recall its name at the moment.

”This is a Black Magic Mirror.”

Xiao Xiao’s slightly abrupt voice sounded behind Zheng Qing: ”He probably heard about your curse, and sent you a very practical gift... This mirror can detect if there’s black magic around. If there is, it will glow, spin, scream... Oh, just like this.”

As he spoke, the ’glass top’ in Zheng Qing’s hand dropped to the ground, began to spin wildly and scream, while flashing nearly black red light.

”The redder the light, the stronger the ill-intent directed at you nearby.” Xiao Xiao happily added.

”Without a doubt, your gifts have big problems.”

The fat wizard quietly moved to the side, further away from the pile of ’anonymous’ Christmas gifts, and reminded the young scholarship student: ”I think it’s necessary to cast a freezing spell or something similar on them to avoid... you know, like a Roaring Letter, if you insist on not opening them, they can become quite scary.”

As he spoke, he pretended to shiver. The fat cat in his arms twitched its whiskers, shook its tail, showing a mocking expression similar to the fat wizard.

”Just tell me how to shut it up!”

Zheng Qing shouted loudly, trying to stuff the mirror into a sock, although this effectively stopped the blood-red flashes, it couldn’t stop it from moving chaotically and screaming.

”Unless you eliminate the black magic around, or smash it.” The doctor adjusted his glasses, paused, and gave another suggestion: ”Or, you can stuff it under the covers first, wrap it tighter.”

Zheng Qing didn’t say a word and stuffed it, sock and all, into the deepest part of the bed, pressing it down with a pillow. Sure enough, both the screams and flashes diminished significantly, almost to null.

Then came the second gift, from the North District Grand-Wizard.

Opening the square large box, unsurprisingly, inside was a moon globe made of brass. At the Under the Moon ball, Korma promised to gift the warlock a moon globe.

Zheng Qing placed it on the desk, while the fatty cat Tuan Tuan jumped out of the fat man’s arms, standing interestedly, using its paw to poke the moon globe, listening to it emit a pleasing soft buzzing.

The third gift box had a small rotating Nine-Tail emblem, the insignia of the Qingqiu Su Family.

Zheng Qing suddenly felt a bit of silence in the room, turned around, only to see Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man holding their breath, focused on staring at the small box in his hand, with Dylan, somehow wearing pajamas, standing drowsily behind them.

”When did you come back?” Zheng Qing was startled by the abruptly appearing blood werewolf.

”Before you returned.” Dylan let out a big yawn, urging: ”Open it quickly, after seeing the gift I have to go back and catch up on sleep.”

Zheng Qing sneered, swiftly unwrapping Su Shijun’s gift.

Inside the box was a slender wooden case and a card. Zheng Qing ignored the card, directly opened the wooden case, and amidst a chorus of exclamations around, saw a Fox Tail Brush lying on velvet—almost identical to the one he borrowed during the Winter Hunting, with a green fox tail-like brush tip emitting a faint magical glow, giving a sense that it could record anything.

Zheng Qing picked up the card, written in bold black letters were four lines—

”Not my tail!”

”Used hairs from my tail!!”

”Do not lend it to others!!!”

”By the way, Poseidon also gave you a gift. She is looking forward to your return gift!!!”

The warlock dropped the card, blankly looking at those ’strangers’ gifts he had pushed to one side, puzzled: ”Poseidon also sent a gift? I didn’t see it!”
