Chapter 2273: Chapter 494: A Gift for Poseidon

Su Shijun returned to the mansion at seven in the evening.

At that time, Su Ya had already polished the floors of two rooms under the supervision of Su Man, the head housemaid, and was slouching with her ears drooping, preparing to clean the floor leading to the flower hall.

Meanwhile, Poseidon, after enough sleep, was in the most spirited state when the owner of the mansion returned, tackling that thick textbook in front of him.

”What are you doing here?”

The owner of Greenhill Mansion raised her arm, letting the maids remove the heavy cloak from her body, and looked at the young scholarship student on the sofa with a touch of sarcasm in her voice, ”Shouldn’t you be having Christmas dinner with your monitor friend?”

Apparently, what happened in Green Valley that afternoon had already reached her ears.

Zheng Qing, feeling somewhat awkward, tossed aside the sunflower seed shells in his hand and cleared his throat.

”I’m here to bring a Christmas gift for Poseidon.”

He didn’t try to make any excuses and directly stated his purpose.

The little fox, who was originally pretending to read, quickly pricked up her ears upon hearing about a gift. Her head turned toward the warlock on the sofa, looking at him expectantly.

This answer was somewhat unexpected for the Upper House Member.

”A gift for Dong Dong?”

She frowned slightly, as if encountering something she could hardly understand, ”Didn’t you send a Little Red Riding Hood to deliver a gift to her at noon? That Moonlight Box, Dong Dong seems to quite like it.”

As she spoke, she had already walked over to Poseidon’s side and very forcefully turned his neck back to the textbook. Poseidon cautiously wagged his tail at Zheng Qing, indicating she didn’t mind having an extra gift.

Su Shijun’s reply also caught Zheng Qing off guard.

”The Moon, Moonlight Box?”

At her words, the young scholarship student stood there speechless for a moment, before hurriedly explaining, ”But that box was a gift for you... I included a card with instructions in the gift box?”

”Who would look at that sort of thing.”

Su Shijun scratched Poseidon’s ear and pouted, looking somewhat dismissive, ”Besides, anyone can see that inside the box was the figure of Poseidon after transformation, would you take your daughter’s... What gift did you prepare for her?”

The witch very abruptly changed the subject.

”That was just an accident.” The warlock quietly defended the ownership of the Moonlight Box at first, and then answered the witch’s second question, ”I... plan to take her to see the teacher.”

”What?”

”I mean, the gift I prepared for Poseidon is to take her to San You Bookstore to see the teacher!”

This time, the warlock’s voice was much louder—long ago, the teacher had said he wanted to see the little fox but never found an appropriate opportunity. At noon today, when Zheng Qing received that green apple, he pondered hard, and suddenly, inspired by a caprice, thought of asking the teacher to bestow a blessing on the little fox as the Christmas gift he wanted to give her.

Every time he thought of this gift that served multiple purposes, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but want to give himself a thumbs-up.

Upon hearing the warlock’s response, the owner of Greenhill Mansion seemed struck by an immobilization spell, standing motionless in place for several seconds, then unexpectedly picked up Poseidon, pulled a few pretty little clothes from thin air, dressed the little fox, and turned to shove her into the arms of the young scholarship student, completing the whole process in one go, a spectacle dazzling to the eyes.

”Prepare my cloak!”

She called to the head maid standing in the corner of the living room.

Until she donned that wide red cloak and walked to the door, Zheng Qing was still holding the little fox, standing there dumbfounded and at a loss.

”When do you plan to go?” The witch at the door seemed to only now notice the silly warlock standing there, giving him a strange look.

Zheng Qing swallowed hard and asked hesitantly, ”Are you going too?”

”I am Poseidon’s mother, her guardian and daily teacher... Or do you want me to sit in the mansion and watch you take her to some strange place?”

”No, no no, not at all.” The student mumbled, hastily catching up with the witch’s footsteps.

Only upon entering the small garden did he remember another question that had been bothering him for quite some time.

”The gift you gave me was that fox tail brush.” Zheng Qing jogged alongside the witch, choosing his words very carefully, ”Was that brush made from your tail’s...”

He did not finish the sentence but instead glanced cautiously at the witch.

The Upper House Member of the Moon Council didn’t mind the warlock’s ’beating around the bush’ and waved her hand quite naturally, ”My tail fur is so precious; of course, it’s not all used to make brushes for you... The very core bristles of the fox tail brush are mine, but most of it is Poseidon’s; she has already reached the molting age... Hmm, I suppose there are also a few strands from Su Ya, in short, the maids in the mansion have also made a small contribution.”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing broke out in a cold sweat, secretly grateful that the two fox hairs he pulled at random belonged to Poseidon and not to the other maids in the mansion.

This must be the connection of bloodlines.

With such wild thoughts, he followed Su Shijun out the mansion gate, crossed the shallow stream, when suddenly, the witch walking in front stopped, catching him off guard and bumping into her.

”Sorry, sorry.”

He apologized repeatedly, looked up, and unexpectedly saw a surprising guest.

The North District Great Sage, Korma.

”Is the whole family planning to go out and enjoy the moon?” Korma, wearing a gray cloak, looked at the family of three in front of him, smiling.

Zheng Qing looked up at the overcast sky.

There was indeed no moon tonight.

He turned his head to look at Su Shijun, only to find the Upper House Member of the Moon Council admiring her nails, showing a lack of interest, obviously not planning to engage in conversation.

”We are going to San You Bookstore.” The young scholarship student vaguely responded.

Woosh.

A gentle breeze blew through.

The North District Grand-Wizard briskly walked to the other side of the young man and naturally patted the head of the little fox, giving the young man a slight smile, ”I haven’t been to the bookstore for a long time; do you mind if I join? ... Didn’t I once give you a moon?”

Thinking of the lunar globe on his desk, Zheng Qing rubbed his temples with some headache and sneakily glanced at the owner of Greenhill Mansion.

Su Shijun, with a blank expression, walked straight ahead, the red cloak lifted by the night wind, flapping one of its corners onto the face of the young man, causing his head to tilt sideways.

With his head tilted, the warlock happened to see the amused expression on the North District Grand-Wizard’s face, feeling acutely embarrassed.

”How did you know we were going to the bookstore?”

”A caprice... In fact, I was originally planning to go to the Wandering Bar. Oh, and just now when I came, I passed by San You Bookstore, and it was empty.”

”No, there must be someone there.”

On this point, Zheng Qing finally regained some confidence, ”The teacher always manages to be at the right place at the right time... What I mean to say is, if he agrees to meet us.”
