Chapter 2259: Chapter 480: Three Witches, Three Dances, and Three Conversations (Part 2)

”Why did you come here?”

”I heard there’s a party on Christmas Eve today, so I came over to dance... What, am I not welcome?”

”You could choose another dance partner.”

”He’s the best choice.”

The conversation between the two Grand-Wizards was brief and bland, without a trace of emotion. After hearing the response from the North District Great Wise Person, the host of Greenhill Mansion looked at her deeply, then turned to Zheng Qing: ”What do you think?”

Three witches looked at the young cost student together.

In Zheng Qing’s pale memories of his short life, he vaguely remembered that some gazes had given him immense pressure, but those were the looks of high-level wizards. He had never thought that the gaze of several witches would be so heavy, as if dozens of burlap bags filled with sand were piled on his chest, making it hard to breathe.

”Think about what?” the warlock mumbled, seemingly losing the ability to think.

”For the next dance, who would you like to dance with?”

Jiang Yu’s voice was slightly weak between the two Grand-Wizards. Equally weak was the performance of the dance band, hovering with hesitation, reluctant to start the rhythm of the third dance.

Due to the music’s hesitation, more and more young wizards in the dance floor stopped dancing, starting to seek out the source of the anomaly. More and more gazes concentrated in this small corner, even though he had his back to the crowd, Zheng Qing still felt his whole body burning under those gazes, as if he could see them whispering to each other with their different eye expressions.

He dared not meet the sharp gazes on either side, his eyes fell on the unexpected guest. Korma wore a silver-gray ceremonial robe today, matching her silver hair and pearl-colored lipstick, harmonizing perfectly with tonight’s moonlight.

Noticing the boy’s gaze, she remained composed, quietly blinked her eyes.

Zheng Qing was struck by an epiphany.

”You two should be tired from dancing just now,” the boy had never felt his thoughts so clear, speaking with a small yet very clear voice: ”Sister Korma arrived late, without a dance partner. I’ll accompany her for a dance first.”

The North District Grand-Wizard smiled slightly, reached out to wrap an arm around Zheng Qing, taking him away from Jiang Yu, her voice sounded very cheerful: ”So warm, no wonder so many girls are interested in you... Hmm, do you remember those words during the student council interview? They’re always effective with me... I’m taller than you, so when you dance, the steps should be a bit loose, otherwise you won’t keep up with my rhythm... Do you think my dress is pretty today? Does it match my hair color?”

Jiang Yu looked angrily at the two figures gradually walking away, quietly clenched her fists.

A wizard who hasn’t reached the registered level trying to stop a Grand-Wizard from taking someone was impossible, even if she wore many high-tier amulets, those amulets were more for life protection, not effective against a Grand-Wizard’s behavior without malice.

She turned to the host of Greenhill Mansion: ”You’re just letting her take him?”

”Otherwise? Would it make any difference to me if Korma or you took him?”

Su Shijun leisurely observed her beautiful nails, noticing the anger on the young witch’s face, her eyes moved slightly, flipping and turning her wrist, she extended it before the witch, making a gesture of invitation.

Jiang Yu looked at her with suspicion.

The Moon Council Upper House Member smiled slightly: ”They can dance, we can dance too. I wonder if you would like to hear what the North District Great Wise Person and my dance partner are chatting about?”

Jiang Yu pursed her lips, angrily placed her hand in Su Shijun’s hand.

The red dance dress and the blue dance dress intertwined with each other, winding toward the direction of the dance floor. The originally hesitant dance band seemed to regain its sense of rhythm at the same time, the fragmented dance music suddenly became smooth, along with the atmosphere of the party becoming lively, glasses clinked, laughter and conversation ensued, as if the brief pause earlier was everyone’s illusion.

”Looking at your expression, it’s like walking in Purgatory.”

As they entered the dance floor, Korma noticed the warlock’s complexion beside her, and couldn’t help but tease with a smile: ”Does dancing with me make you so unhappy? Feels like I’ve become the evil dragon from the storybook who kidnaps the princess... Oh, no, the princess is female, you aren’t, hmm, have you heard of the evil dragon abducting a prince?”

Zheng Qing made a pained face, sighed heavily.

”After a wizard dies, they appear in a void,” he murmured, face pale as though he’d seen a ghost: ”To me, all this should happen after the void, not before.”

The North District Grand-Wizard raised her eyebrows, showing a hint of interest: ”Sounds highly credible... But I still want to return to Gini Cottage after death... Did you know clearly because you’ve died once before?”

Zheng Qing sighed sorrowfully.

Colorful, flower-adorned branches hung from the night sky, covering the dance floor overhead. Occasionally, a few lush and bright petals fell, creating patches of enchanting colors between the dancing warlock and witch.

Korma held Zheng Qing’s hand, guiding him to spin in the dance floor. Hearing the boy’s mournful sigh, she couldn’t help but purse her lips: ”Don’t act like a little girl... As compensation for accompanying me to dance this time, I can give you a decent Christmas gift. Tell me, what would you like?”

Zheng Qing froze for a moment.

”No, thank you,” he declined repeatedly, showing a little embarrassment on his face. Suddenly feeling he was performing poorly as a dance partner, he racked his brain to find something to discuss, but due to the earlier mishap discussing art, he didn’t have the courage to bring up the topic again. He thought for a long time, and could only awkwardly praise the moon: ”...The moonlight is really nice tonight.”

”Oh? The moon?”

The North District Grand-Wizard pondered seriously for a few seconds, finally shook her head: ”Sorry, gifting a moon slightly exceeds my budget... I can gift you a moon model, entirely brass-made, marked with the territorial boundaries of each Moon Beast tribe and the range of the Moon Sea tides, how about?”

Two familiar scents abruptly entered Zheng Qing’s nostrils.

He suspiciously turned his head slightly, immediately saw the two witches dancing elegantly not far beside him. His whole demeanor grew uncomfortable, even his movements became much stiffer.

”So you’re trying to get the moon as a Christmas gift?” Su Shijun elegantly spun, her lively voice reaching the young cost student’s ears: ”Wouldn’t a moon from this world do?”

”Even if we gift it to him, does he have a place to put the moon?” another familiar voice interjected.

Zheng Qing looked numbly at the two witches, clearly conveying his confusion through his gaze.

The Moon Council Upper House Member’s joyful voice rang out again: ”Oh, a small magic skill... Allows licensed voices to join our private conversation.”

”Honored indeed.” Korma squinted at the warlock with a smile.
