High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2293: Chapter 514: Doctor’s Advice

Sunday afternoon.

Inside a classroom practicing magic.

When Zheng Qing once again found himself bound by the Binding Spell, dangling four-legged from the ceiling, Xiao Xiao, his sparring partner, couldn’t resist and finally took off his glasses.

”Although I know your practical grades in the Curse Course are great, you can’t be so perfunctory.” The short warlock wiped the frame with a clean velvet cloth, frowned, and looked at the young public student struggling to break free from the vine bindings, ”With this attitude, I doubt if you’ll pass the practical exam in the Curse Course tomorrow.”

The young public student sighed heavily.

”Pass or not...” he muttered, subconsciously glancing at the Diviner of Absolution, hesitating to speak, stopping thrice, finally irritating Doctor Xiao.

”If you have something to say, just spit it out!”

The short warlock rarely showed a temper, gathered up the velvet cloth, put on his glasses, and glared harshly at Zheng Qing: ”You’ve been this way since Friday, have you hurt anyone again, or is Su Councilor expecting a second child, so you want to flee early?!”

His voice was a bit loud, waking the little sprites napping in the corner of the ceiling, even a ghost from the next room peeked over, its pearly long face full of curiosity.

Zheng Qing was startled by Xiao Xiao’s scary speculations, nearly dropping the Bronze Book in his hand.

”What a bunch of nonsense!”

The young public student’s face turned pale as he expelled the curious sprite, quickly set up a ’Rodent Goes’ barrier to block out the sound and then exhaled a small breath, complaining, ”I just have some personal issues... I mean unrelated to others... forget it, what do you think about early graduation?”

Realizing he couldn’t explain it, Zheng Qing straightforwardly aired the problem that’s troubled him for two days, consulting someone he’s long wanted to ask.

”Early graduation? Who?” Xiao Xiao raised an eyebrow.

”Me.” Zheng Qing honestly replied.

”You?”

The doctor looked the young public student up and down with a hurtful gaze, and ultimately curbed that disdain under the warlock’s angry stare, summarizing, ”So for two days you’ve been troubled, considering whether to graduate early? Just this?”

”What do you mean troubled, that’s exaggerated... I’m just thinking more thoroughly... but yes, this indeed has been my focus for the past two days.”

”Not great.”

”What?”

”I mean, the idea of early graduation isn’t great. Of course, this judgment is based on myself.” Xiao Xiao toyed with the green Bamboo Slip Law Book in his hand, pouting.

”Why?”

”Do you know why people go to university?” Xiao Xiao retorted.

Zheng Qing blinked, uncertain, ”School is naturally for learning... higher magic knowledge... and then graduating with a Registered Wizard certificate, getting a good job?”

Xiao Xiao raised his right index finger, shaking it.

”That’s just some people’s choice.”

He snapped his fingers, and a circle of portrait silhouettes instantly appeared around them, then Xiao Xiao pointed at a silhouette closest to him: ”Like Uncle Zhang Zhi, do you think Linda Barnes could apply for early graduation a year early, and Zhang Uncle Zhi could not gather enough credits?”

”That’s not certain.” Zheng Qing mumbled, wanting to remind his family’s Diviner that Zhang family members are never famed for wisdom, much like Zhang Ji Xin, whose biggest lifelong wish is to train his muscles into his brain.

”For example!”

Xiao Xiao seemed to know what he wanted to say, slightly raised his voice, and chose another silhouette: ”Alpha’s Sir Friedman, a public student for three consecutive years, once a strong contender for the Augustus title... but even in defeat against Sepulano, losing face at Alpha Fortress, he didn’t choose early graduation! If he wishes, I’m sure by choosing courses like ’Blood Race Emblem Studies’, ’Concise History of Clans Under the Moon’, ’Philosophy of Moon Magic’, he could soon gather enough credits.”

This example was quite convincing, and Zheng Qing honestly kept quiet and listened.

”And me.”

Xiao Xiao waved away the portrait silhouettes spinning in mid-air, pointing at his own nose instead: ”Do you think I have trouble graduating early?”

Zheng Qing shook his head decisively.

Joking aside, if there were only one person in First University eligible to graduate, perhaps there’d be some debate about who, but if judged solely on mastery of magic knowledge, undoubtedly, the only person would be Xiao Xiao.

”So,” Xiao Xiao rolled up his Bamboo Slip Law Book, summarizing, ”For many young people from wizarding families, First University is more like a social venue rich in resources, an experimental platform that provides access to cutting-edge magic knowledge, a place for escaping the family cage... accumulating experience, making friends, enjoying freedom, observing the world... young people have lots to do, why do you only focus on studying?”

At these final words, Zheng Qing felt enlightened.

That’s right, he’s still young, at an age of freedom and indulgence, an age to feed horses, chop wood, and travel the world. Why should others come to school to escape cages, while he enters one?

The duels of the bigwigs at First University have nothing to do with me!

I’m still a kid!

With this thought, he felt a hint of lightness, half-jokingly answering the doctor’s question: ”Why care about studying... because I’m a student of Jiuyou Academy? For Jiuyou People, knowledge is power.”

”Wrong.”

Xiao Xiao shook his finger, slightly shaking his head: ”For wizards, knowledge should be a lever... and at First University, this lever is not only longer but sturdier. Because with this lever, you can really move Earth.”

”So do you think I should apply for early graduation?” Zheng Qing perked up, steering the conversation back to the original topic.

The short warlock didn’t directly answer the question but gave a very indirect reminder: ”I’m a Diviner.”

”So?” Zheng Qing misunderstood his hint, assuming he wanted a fee, fidgeting to find a few copper coins, patting them into the Diviner’s hand.

Xiao Xiao accepted them resentfully, stuffed them into his pocket, then adjusted his glasses, and replied: ”Diviners never give clear advice. They only enumerate different possibilities... so don’t worry back and forth, do what you want... it’s no big deal, don’t be afraid.”

The young public student sighed deeply: ”If it’s just an application for graduation, it really isn’t a big deal... but in this matter, besides fear, I’ve found no other emotion.”
