High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2286: Chapter 507: Final Exams (Part 1)

Winter vacation plan.

This was the third time Zheng Qing heard this term in just one hour. Although slightly dazed, he had already developed a certain resistance mentally, and instincts derived from being a wizard made him subconsciously a bit wary as several thoughts flashed through his mind.

The first thought, naturally, was relief.

He was relieved that Doctor Xiao had just given him another perfect answer, so he wouldn’t blurt out the original plan that would have embarrassed everyone had he been caught.

The second thought was confusion.

Confused as to why such a trivial matter required the intervention of this Upper House Member of the Moon Council, who should have easily figured it out with a mere wave of fingers, without needing to drag him from his dormitory.

The next thought was suspicion, based on his understanding of the School Guardian Array, it shouldn’t be so easy for someone to drag a student out of the dormitory.

”How did I end up here?” With several thoughts running through his mind, the young scholarship student didn’t directly answer the office master’s question, but instead tried to regain the initiative in the conversation.

The witch didn’t seem to mind his cautiousness and replied lazily: ”Of course, I brought you here.”

As she spoke, several solid fox tails rose behind her, swaying vividly, like living creatures. The fox tails glistened with oily black fur, reflecting a hazy gleam, giving an impression of being ’to be admired from a distance but not to be played with’ at first glance.

”Can your hands reach into the student dorm?” The warlock showed a hint of incredulity on his face.

”Before, they couldn’t.”

Su Shijun slightly sat up straight, smiling as she looked at him, not avoiding eye contact at all, her words carrying a bit of boastfulness, like a child with a new toy: ”But firstly, I’m now an in-service employee of the school, and this laboratory is also within the school. Moving you isn’t that difficult; secondly, a few days ago at the San You Bookstore, I benefited greatly, stronger than before... So, what’s your winter vacation plan?”

She effortlessly reclaimed the initiative in the conversation.

”Can’t you figure it out?” Zheng Qing eyed the fluffy tails behind her, testing the waters a bit.

”I can, but it’s not good.”

On the witch’s face was a hint of impatience, but she still prompted the young man a bit: ”Whether in daily life or hunting, you shouldn’t rely too much on divination magic. There are too many skills in this world that can interfere with divination... Besides, you’re the father of Poseidon, and I must respect your privacy. Calculating you at will isn’t my style... For uncertainties, I prefer direct questioning.”

She slightly raised her chin, showing a touch of reserved pride.

Indeed, under normal circumstances, ordinary warlocks would find it difficult to remain calm before this beautiful lady, easily confessing anything in person, unlike when they aren’t facing her ’inquiries’.

Zheng Qing, having interacted with her often and being exceptional enough himself, could behave somewhat more normally.

Realizing this, the warlock stopped being hesitant and answered honestly: ”I might complete a hunting task arranged by the Alliance during the winter break... Absolution is already a registered hunting team with designated tasks every year.”

The witch behind the desk blinked in slight surprise, her fingers quickly making calculations under the table, realizing what the warlock said was true.

This differed slightly from the information she had received.

So, she discarded most of her previously prepared statements.

”Anyway, whether it’s hunting or any other arrangement, Poseidon can’t follow you and mess around.” The witch simply referred to another matter: ”This year when I return to Qingqiu, I’ll take Dong Dong with me, and return to school after the new year.”

This arrangement was very thoughtful, and Zheng Qing nodded repeatedly in agreement.

Seeing this, Su Shijun felt a bit guilty, explaining further: ”It’s not that I’m not letting her meet your parents, but the situation is somewhat special, and it’s safer for Dong Dong to be with me...”

Zheng Qing tugged at the corners of his mouth.

He hadn’t thought about how to explain to his family that his pet turned into a child — from a normal person’s perspective, it was truly absurd — but fortunately, there’s an alchemy puppet to assist during this Spring Festival, sparing him this slightly awkward explanation.

A jade bead traced an elegant arc and landed in the warlock’s hand.

Zheng Qing looked up only to find the scene in front of him turning blurry, hearing Su Shijun’s voice by his ear: ”This jade bead contains a spell of mine. If you encounter trouble while hunting, just crush it... Keep your distance when facing danger outside...”

Before she finished speaking, the vision before Zheng Qing blurred.

Back to his senses.

He was already back in Dorm 403.

...

...

The matter of the winter vacation plan settled down quietly without any ripples rising.

At the same time, the ripples brought by ”Magic Wand” also quickly dissipated in the low-pressure atmosphere as finals approached.

Two days flew by in the blink of an eye.

Tomorrow would be the final exam, with ’Curse Studies’ as the first subject in the morning.

Sunday night, Zheng Qing couldn’t sleep, something he hadn’t experienced for a long time. He thought he was well-prepared for the exams and believed he had diligently mastered many curses taught by Old Yao and could wield them adeptly.

However, before going to bed, he casually flipped through the Curse Studies notes and was shocked to realize he could no longer remember many details.

Disturbed by this dreadful feeling, he lay under his covers, tossing and turning, as spells and methods for converting spell formulas rose and fell in his mind — clearly aware of the exam tomorrow, yet unable to empty his mind. The nightmare dolls lined up neatly beside his pillow, their heads firmly attached to their bodies.

This dismal feeling lingered for a long time.

Zheng Qing didn’t know when he fell asleep, but it felt as if his eyelids had just shut when Xiao Xiao yanked open his tent, blinding sunlight streaming into the room from outside, leaving him in a daze.

”Has the competition begun?”

He asked groggily — just before being woken, he was about to participate in a hunting competition in his dream, with the entire Absolution hunting team sorting equipment in the lounge, while he’d just nodded off against a wall.

”No, it’s the exam that’s about to begin.”

Xiao Xiao dragged him out of bed roughly, simultaneously handing him a cup: ”Drink up quickly, there’s less than half an hour until the exam starts... Guess skipping early lessons today was the right call.”

Zheng Qing stared at the bubbling green liquid in the cup, taking a moment to come to his senses.

”What’s this?”

”Energy magic potion concocted by the chubby, with a few drops of Baffi’s Brain Awakening Potion. I had a cup myself, didn’t feel any discomfort... It works well enough to focus your mind.”

”Is it safe?” Zheng Qing, uncharacteristically, snapped to attention.

”It won’t cause you to have an upset stomach in the exam room... Nor will it trigger the anti-cheating magic, since it’s merely a regular brain awakening potion, not contraband like a Luck Elixir.”
