High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1849: Chapter 70: Two-headed Ogre

This isn’t the first time in recent days that his teammates have doubted his magic control abilities.

”I’ve been in the trial arena for six days, haven’t you seen me use spells?”

The young cost student felt indignant inside and retorted, ”Even if you haven’t seen it, you must have seen me fall from the sky... Such an obvious flying spell, could it be fake?”

The red-faced male wizard slightly turned his face, seemingly a bit embarrassed, ”Uh, just confirming, habitually confirming, no bad intentions.”

”Damn habit.” Zheng Qing muttered under his breath.

”Normal! Normal! Normal!”

Xin Fat Man, like a melancholic poet, looked up at the sky, chanting this word several times, then shook his head and sighed, ”I must admit, as your teammate, I always feel the word ’normal’ is too awkward.”

Zheng Qing’s face grew darker.

”My magic control has always been excellent.”

The young cost student gritted his teeth, took a deep breath, and with a shake of his hand, released a binding spell. Four or five long thin vines wove through his fingers like octopus tentacles, looking quite splendid, ”Isn’t this enough... Do you think such spell control would still go out of control?”

The other members of the Absolution Hunting Team neither agreed nor disagreed with this question.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and kindly reminded, ”Do you remember what happened at last year’s school hunting party for freshmen? Your magic control wasn’t any worse than now...”

”That was the shadow’s doing, had nothing to do with me!”

Zheng Qing stomped fiercely, the shadow that had been hiding beneath his feet lazily stretched out a tail, greeting the ’comrades.’

Li Meng reacted quickly, stomped over, and the shadow shrank back in a swoosh, emerging from the other side. The little witch immediately stomped there too. Thus, the two dimwits played a game of hide and seek and whack-a-mole around Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing drooped his mouth corners, looking at the little witch circling him, feeling momentarily envious.

”Sepulano?” Xin Fat Man closely followed Xiao Xiao, reminding someone of their school probation.

”The one who injured him was the Blood Symbol Bullet, nothing to do with my magic control.” The young cost student corrected stiffly, ”Besides, my Charm Gun was lost in the Black Prison Battlefield.”

At the mention of the Black Prison Battlefield, those who participated fell silent, collectively giving the young cost student a subtle look, which made the wizard feel a bit embarrassed.

Jiang Yu timely spoke softly, ”There’s also Satoguya... twice.”

The first time, he blew up Satoguya’s son, the second time he outright destroyed a small world. Of course, Jiang Yu kindly refrained from mentioning someone’s glorious deeds of destroying half a street in the North Beita Town.

The young cost student exhaled heavily, showing some trouble, ”Who would have thought an Outer God would take action against a little-known little wizard? It was entirely accidental, and accidents are inherently uncontrollable!”

Xiao Xiao gestured to show understanding, ”We could keep listing examples, and you could keep arguing, but you can only choose between excuse or fact, like fish and bear paws, you can’t have both. Of course, as a Diviner, I am more inclined to use facts to deduce the greatest possibilities for the future.”

”As the person involved, I will never promise to give up excuses.” Zheng Qing said sulkily.

He knew the facts his companions talked about, and their worries were justified.

But knowing is one thing, accepting is another.

This is unrelated to honor or ego, but because the ultimate reason for all ’accidents’ lies with the forbidden curse hidden deep in his soul, but this fact he has no way to clearly state to his companions.

”So, Merlin bless, you need to restrain yourself a bit this time.”

Zhang Ji Xin walked up and patted Zheng Qing on the shoulder, ”I certainly don’t want to go to Lin Zhong Lake with you after the trial to pick up a semester’s worth of fishman droppings from the shore.”

Zheng Qing sighed.

”Merlin may not necessarily bless me.” He muttered, ultimately heeding his companions’ advice, reassessing the magic power within, ”...If needed, you should probably say ’Mr. bless.’

...

...

Zheng Qing ultimately had no chance to utter the words ’Mr. bless.’

The preparations before the ambush were intricate and complex.

But the entire battle proved to be unremarkable.

With the Phantasmic Body Spell, the six hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team sneaked close to the camp at the mountain’s edge, using only a few Soft Leg Curses, Chaos Spells, and Binding Spells to easily capture the ogres staying in their tents.

One ogre, who was drinking soup, didn’t even manage to set down the bone bowl in his hand before being wrapped up like a zongzi by vines and hung from the beam.

Neither the anti-evil charms Zheng Qing prepared for everyone, nor the magic potions Fat Man brewed for everyone, nor the ten-plus contingency plans Doctor Xiao prepared for a failed ambush were used.

This was a good thing.

Then Jiang Yu took Li Meng to survey the geomancy in preparation to set up the magic circle; Zhang Ji Xin took Xin, diving into the tent to twist the necks of the captives one by one—in fact, the neck twisting job was all performed by the red-faced male wizard, while Fat Man wielded a small silver knife to cut the most valuable spoils from the captives.

For instance, the heart of the ogre, such fresh magical material needs to be soaked in absinthe quickly, it can become the power source for alchemy puppets and can be used as raw material for many special-purpose magic potions, like the blood replenishing medicine Thomas gave Zheng Qing.

Then there are ogre eyeballs, just like fishman or horse-man eyeballs, when magical creatures of the human clan die, their eyeballs turn into gemstones. Compared to natural gemstones, these might be slightly inferior in quality, but for many students at First University, they don’t need precious gems with high purity and brightness, as long as it meets experimental requirements, even snail eyeballs can be carelessly thrown into a mortar and ground into powder.

Moreover, ogre spinal nerves are an excellent carrier for making magic circuits; ogre thigh bones, once inset with magic gems to craft a magic wand, become popular ’study items’ among Starry Sky Academy students; if the time were more abundant, Fat Man even hoped to thoroughly peel several ogre skins, any shop selling law books wouldn’t refuse such a fine material.

But time was ultimately tight.

Fat Man only had time to peel off their scalp and back skin before Xiao Xiao, who was responsible for watching the surroundings, sounded the alarm for everyone.

”The ogre hunting team is returning!”

The diviner’s urgent and clear voice echoed in every young wizard’s ear, ”They’ve rounded the mountain... Moving fast, estimated to reach the camp in five minutes!”
