High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1831: Chapter 52: Emergency Operation

Hilda knew that the swirling colors outside the porthole were not real colors, but the magical residue dissipating between the rise and fall of the transit lines. Just like how the rabbit sitting in the pilot seat in front of her wasn’t a real rabbit, but a Wizard who had gone through a magical experiment accident.

”How much longer until we return?”

The Teaching Assistant of Astronomy Class 08-1 took out his pocket watch, glanced at the time, and showed a hint of anxiety on his face: ”It didn’t feel like it took this long on the way here!”

Mr. Rabbit straightened his crooked ears and glanced lazily at the Teaching Assistant in the rearview mirror, smirking: ”Do you think this is a private plane from Buji Island to Nanjing Pavilion that can return the same way? Traveling from one world to another is always a one-way trip, and every route has subtle differences... Are you really an assistant at the First University? The kind with a formal position?”

”Heh.”

Hilda let out two cold laughs, disdaining to argue on this topic with a rabbit piloting a plane.

”Truly, each generation does not measure up to the last,” the pink rabbit wagged its floppy ears, contentedly disdainful: ”In our day, a Wizard who wanted to stay at school had to at least get an excellent in Magic Universe Study...”

”I didn’t take that course!” the Teaching Assistant gritted his teeth, trying hard to recite the Calming Incantation in his heart while beginning to ponder whether to have red-braised rabbit head or spicy shredded rabbit for dinner.

”Ha, that’s why I say each generation is worse than the last!”

Mr. Rabbit seemed to have heard some strong evidence and slapped the console with excitement, his entire pink fur standing on end: ”The school’s admission standards keep dropping, no wonder such stupid questions are being asked...”

”Be careful!” Hilda watched as a dozen indicator lights in the cockpit all turned red after the rabbit’s hard slap, her face turned pale with fear: ”Having an accident in the seams between worlds could be a horrible death!”

”Relax, I can fly this plane better than you,” the pink rabbit lazily glanced at the Teaching Assistant, leaped onto the console, and with quick short hands, swiftly turned off all the warning lights.

Then, it clapped its hands and stood on the console, looking down at the Warlock: ”...Not only is your professional level low, but your courage is also lacking.”

This has nothing to do with courage!

Hilda’s face was ashen as she looked at the tidal colors flowing outside the window, saying nothing.

”Speaking of courage,” the rude rabbit shifted its tone and thoughtfully looked at the cabin behind the cockpit, as if it could see the empty cabin through the door: ”...I wonder if those little guys have the courage to rush headfirst into that Thunder Mountain and Cloud Sea.”

It crossed its arms, its furry short tail skillfully swaying left to right, and before Hilda could speak, it directly shook its head: ”Hard, very hard... after all, those kids look too clever.”

”Smart people think too much, always considering before and after, hesitating, forgetting that sometimes charging in with eyes closed is also a way to solve problems.”

”It’s just getting struck by lightning a couple of times and suffering some hardship, what’s the big deal...”

...

...

When the Practice Course teacher from Astronomy Class 08-1 stood in Vice Principal Ruoyu’s large office, his legs still felt a bit weak. The experience brought by that pink rabbit was far more than just one bad Otherworld travel experience.

If not for magic, he very much doubted if he could make it to this office in time.

”I’m going to eat rabbits for a week.” The young Teaching Assistant touched the newly-reinserted copper ring on his nose, muttering, showing a hint of determination in his eyes.

”What?” Thomas, standing beside Hilda, heard his companion say something indistinctly but couldn’t catch it, habitually turned back to ask.

”Nothing.” Hilda shook her head decisively, then turned to ask: ”On the way, did the batch of trial students you escorted have any issues?”

Thomas shrugged: ”Those kids were reciting spells the whole way... so when I opened the hatch and pushed them out, their screams were a bit too loud—that would be the only issue, I guess.”

Hilda recalled the similar behavior of the young Wizards under her supervision, and gave a powerless smile.

”Speaking of which, do you know why the school urgently summoned us back?” Thomas suddenly frowned, carefully and quickly looked around: ”If I remember right, the original plan was to have us supervise the whole process...”

”The School Works Committee and Trident Sword took over the supervision plan.” The Assistant Team Leader suddenly appeared beside the two Teaching Assistants, spoke in a low voice: ”This recall is for a secret attack, requiring Wizards more familiar with environments like Buji Island and the Silent Forest.”

”Secret attack?”

This time, not only Thomas and Hilda, but even the other Assistants turned their heads towards this corner.

Zhang Yu didn’t hold back, instead speaking with a slightly louder voice, succinctly replying: ”Remember the incident with Dark Council Wizards appearing in the Black Prison? The Joint Council judged there’s a traitor within the school... This attack’s target relates to the insider.”

No sooner had he finished speaking when a rush of footsteps suddenly echoed in the spacious office.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

First University Vice Principal Ruoyu, leaning on his silver Wolf Head cane, walked swiftly in from the side door, raised his hand slightly to signal everyone need not be overly courteous.

The Assistants stood in unison, solemnly, in the hall.

”This emergency summon is for an attack on a secret laboratory hidden deep within the Silent Forest,” Elder Ruoyu’s deep voice sounded, his expression solemn, even somewhat grim:

”There is evidence indicating that the laboratory is conducting illegal magic experiments, possibly involving school Professors. For safety, I will remain at the school, guarding its safety.”

”Since that laboratory is hidden on Buji Island, theoretically it should have no escape. Your task is to capture the target Wizard while preserving as much of the entire laboratory’s projects as possible.”

”Listen carefully, whether the laboratory conducts legal or illegal experiments, whether the Wizards managing the lab are senior researchers or seasoned Professors from the school, First University is responsible.”

”Therefore, you are responsible for minimizing the risks.”

”If the opposition surrenders, you may treat them within the limits allowed by Danghag. If they resist fiercely during the attack, you are allowed to use high-lethality spells.”

”The school will handle the subsequent paperwork for the usage of related magic.”

”This mission will be led by Assistant Team Leader Zhang Yu.”

”That’s all!”

Upon completing the final two words, Elder Ruoyu gave a heavy tap with his Magic Wand, bestowing a blessing upon the young Assistants participating in this attack: ”Jier Jingfu, bless the life!”

”In the name of First University!” Underneath, the young Wizards of the Assistant Team raised their Law books in unison, receiving the Elder Wizard’s blessing.
