High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1808: Chapter 29: Inside the Pedestrian Street

The two soft leg curses, one fatigue, one dazzling, simultaneously hit the black figure, putting it in a brief state of rigidity.

At that moment, a light shout rang out from not far away on the street.

”Hey!”

A little witch with a dot of cinnabar on her forehead jumped down from a rooftop somewhere, swinging her small white fist and heavily smashed it on the black smoke’s head, knocking it to the ground.

Boom!

Fragments of green stones flew in all directions, crashing into shop doors and windows with a loud noise, while the ground was punched into a web of cracks.

At the web’s center lay a bald wizard wrapped in a black robe, with a gray burlap bag beside him. The origins of this bald wizard were unknown, his scalp covered with twisted and fierce black tattoos, resembling pythons or octopuses, with several lines even extending down along his eye corners, ingrained into his eyeballs.

Robert struggled to climb up from the ground, his gaze first landed on the black-robed male witch, seeing him unconscious and relieved with a heavy breath.

Only then did he look at the gray burlap bag beside the bald wizard. The bag wasn’t big, only about a meter, tightly tied with a leather rope, inside some living creature was struggling forcefully, creating various bumps and bulges on the bag’s surface.

”Ge Zhitianxi!”

”I Ma Hui Tui!”

”’Sleep Without Wisdom’!”

Four or five spells flew in succession from afar, landing on the passed-out Black Wizard, making him utterly powerless, trapped in slumber, firmly binding him.

Eyes hidden within the store saw the chaos subside, immediately regaining courage, rushing out with law books, cheering for the little witch, Robert, and those brave wizards who threw out binding spells and soft leg curses, while cautiously squeezing around the bald wizard, examining the audacious stranger disrupting Beta Town.

This could be great material for idle chit-chat later.

Whether it was the bizarre tattoos on the Black Wizard’s bald head or his appearance, or even the gray burlap bag beside him, all would be fodder for these leisurely townsfolk to talk about with relish for a long time.

Hence, shortly thereafter, the pedestrial street once vacated due to the Black Wizard’s trouble was crowded with onlookers—like a flock of chickens drawn by rice—they dared not get too close but wouldn’t disperse quickly either, stretching their necks, nudging each other, buzzing softly as they discussed.

On a normal day, Beta Town’s old residents might not spare some mockery for the bald wizard’s arrogance, but having recently suffered a disaster in the past month, their confidence for saying much had dwindled.

Zheng Qing and Xin Fat Man arrived on the pedestrian street just in time for this incident.

In fact, they arrived earlier. After accidentally disrupting two inseparable creatures at the academy, the two young wizards fled in panic, swiftly reaching the pedestrian street, coinciding with hearing someone shouting words like ’Black Wizard’ from afar.

In a blink, the street was cleared halfway, as Zheng Qing stood bewildered, witnessing the brilliance of countless spells flickering at the street’s end, although obscured by figures.

After witnessing the hectic chaos of the Black Prison’s war, with spells flying about by thousands, this small fuss did not concern the two young wizards. One worried about the chaos expanding to affect his shop, the other eagerly wanted to get a good scoop, both speeding up to head forward.

But after just a few steps, the little witch’s light scorn echoed in the air, accompanied by a punch that made the whole street tremble. Then, the town residents hiding behind doors and windows suddenly gained courage, rushing out from their shops.

With more people, Zheng Qing and Xin naturally slowed down. By the time they arrived at the scene, it had been surrounded by a spectator’s densely packed circle.

Xin Fat Man exerted great effort to squeeze into the crowd - relying on holding up a campus newspaper reporter’s badge for some respect from the onlookers.

Zheng Qing followed closely behind the fat man, with his head down, uttering not a word, squeezing in as well.

Within the crowd was a vacant area covering more than ten meters square, including those web-like cracks on the ground. The bald black-robed wizard was unconscious lying on the ground, with the gray burlap bag still beside him. Robert Lee was busily maintaining order, occasionally waving his law book, warning the spectators trying to inch closer.

Xin Fat Man, with the reporter’s badge hanging around his neck, skillfully darted around the sheriff interviewing street spectators at a rapid pace, camera held for snapshots, while the notepad hovered beside him, and the pink feather pen frantically tapped in rhythm as if enlivened.

In a few words, Zheng Qing pieced together what had transpired earlier. Lifting his head to glance forward, the little witch who had knocked out the Black Wizard was facing away from him, seemingly conversing with her companions.

Sensing the Warlock’s curious gaze, the little witch turned her head, revealing a very familiar face to Zheng Qing.

”Zhu Si?!”

Zheng Qing stared stunned at the little witch, instinctively squeezing forward a few steps: ”How are you here! Are you okay now? Are you alone?”

Robert Lee intended to stop Zheng Qing—recognizing the student from Jiuyou Academy, feeling each encounter with him seemed to link to some troublesome incident—but hearing his familiarity with the little witch and seeing the Academy robe on the Warlock, he ultimately sighed and let the student in.

”Why did he get in?” a disgruntled raspy voice complained from behind.

”He’s from the school,” the sheriff smoothly chuckled, firmly preventing wizards from trying to sneakily come closer behind the student: ”If what you’re holding is the emblem of First University rather than a cup of coffee, I might decide to let you in too.”

The crowd burst into laughter.

Zheng Qing paid no heed to the small commotion behind him, staring straight at Zhu Si. Unlike in Dreamland or Black Prison, now the little witch had a rosy complexion, her eyes bright, brimming with vigor, looking exceedingly healthy, without the dreamy haziness from before.

If the little witch before seemed like a delicate soap bubble under sunlight, giving a fragile impression of bursting upon touch, now she appeared more like a glass marble.

As his peripheral glance swept over the figure still lying unconscious on the ground, Zheng Qing instantly vetoed the metaphor that had flashed in his mind. No, this little girl now wasn’t a glass marble, but a metal sphere, a diamond sphere!

Upon seeing the young student on public funding, the little witch broke into a bright smile.

”Of course I’m okay now! I’m doing great!”

As she spoke, she flaunted by lifting her skirt, spinning in place, then pointed into the crowd: ”And I’m not alone, I’m here browsing with several friends.”
