High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1839: Chapter 60: Points and Camp

Sky’s Manifest Thoughts!

Zheng Qing silently recited the spell given to them by Professor Hilda, fingering the rough edges of the trial card. Driven by spell power, the central trilinear school emblem on the front of the copper card flashed a tiny number 50, like a fireworks display followed by a series of illusory plus signs, along with concise and clear explanations:

Basic: +2 (Controlling the trial card and learning the spell)

Basic: +2 (Successfully using the flying curse)

Basic: +2 (Passing through cumulonimbus)

Basic: +2 (Landing successfully)

Advanced: +2 (Keeping the team intact)

The starting basic score was 50, and after completing the landing project, it became 60. It was a score that made Zheng Qing feel both gratified and somewhat disappointed.

Gratification came from scoring full marks on the landing project. Disappointment was because he thought learning the flying curse would earn ten points, but it was only two.

”Why do I only have 59 points?!” Beside him came Li Meng’s indignant protest: ”Clearly, I also landed successfully, so why did I only get one point for this project? Zheng Zha fell just like me, being held by the belt!”

The young public-funded student squinted at the little witch.

”Weren’t you unconscious?” Zhang Ji Xin kindly reminded from the side.

”I just closed my eyes a little!” Li Meng opened her eyes wide, loudly arguing: ”Otherwise, how would I know Zheng Zha was also brought down by Blue Fatty?”

”Then you lost consciousness when you closed your eyes.”

Jiang Yu pressed down the flustered little witch, tidying the mystical grain leaf hanging around her neck, warning: ”Don’t make trouble, you should be satisfied with getting nine points... Remember those who haven’t mastered the flying curse and fell from mid-air, or those struck by lightning and charred?”

Li Meng shrunk her neck, still looking a bit unconvinced, but eventually quieted down.

Then Jiang Yu turned around, stuffing a tube of light blue magic potion under Zheng Qing’s nose—right after releasing ’Water of Canglang,’ she stood on the spot starting to concoct the potion, with the mortar, test tube, and glass rod moving around her like a series of tame planets, rising and falling.

Before Zheng Qing could speak, Xin Fat Man came over with a brazen face, examining the residue inside the mortar: ”What’s this? Hmm, there’s toad cinnabar, dandelion juice... and brandy?”

He sniffed, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes: ”This combination is quite uncommon... and pretty old-school.”

The witch calmly looked at Zheng Qing.

The young public-funded student obediently took the magic potion, looking at the gurgling liquid in the test tube, and without a word, poured it straight into his mouth. A warm feeling spread in his mouth, transforming into refreshing coolness, like the sudden clearing of a blocked nose.

Jiang Yu’s mouth slightly curved up.

”For bruises.” She pointed to her own cheek, explaining simply.

During the drop, Zheng Qing’s face was whipped by a flying vine branch, swelling up one side. This was also why from landing up until now, he had mostly kept quiet.

Checking the score was only part of the reason; more importantly, talking pulled the temple on his swollen face painfully taut, so he simply kept his mouth shut.

Now, with a tube of magic potion entering his mouth, Zheng Qing’s cheek visibly restored to normal within moments.

”Thank you... that was really immediate!”

As the young public-funded student expressed his gratitude, returning the test tube to Jiang Yu, he praised without reservation: ”Did you just concoct this? Much faster than Xin Fat Man!”

The fat man pursed his lips, unexpectedly choosing to remain silent.

Jiang Yu lowered her eyelids, putting away the test tube and gathering the floating potion-making utensils into her handbag. Although she didn’t have much small talk with Zheng Qing, her voice sounded much happier: ”You’re the hunting team leader, we should hear your thoughts... What do we do next? Go directly into the tent?”

Saying this, she pointed to the low gray tent behind them.

Zheng Qing turned around, carefully scrutinizing the tent for the first time.

At the entrance to the tent, a leather curtain hung with some dead ravens and squirrels on straw ropes, swaying with the breeze as their worn fur fluttered, revealing various magical symbols engraved in cinnabar on the tent skin.

Behind the tent, the area between the fixed secure lines and the fence was piled with large chunks of animal shells, bundles of fur, charred bones from burning, and yet to be decomposed magical creature corpses.

Next to those corpses, a shallow pit was built, with a suspicious reddish-brown layer painted at the bottom. A narrow trench, about a foot wide, was dug around the edge of the pit, connecting to the massive magic circle outlined by water outside from an exit under the fence.

The pervasive deathful aura made the warlock feel slightly uncomfortable.

He withdrew his gaze.

”Let’s clean up a bit first.”

Zheng Qing looked at his companions, saying without much confidence: ”None of us know if there will be another trial upon entering, so it’s best to prepare a bit... Fat Man, help the monitor prepare some common magic potions; the doctor can pick up some bones in the back, see if they’re suitable for divination; and the elder should check the surrounding environment and be careful not to walk outside the fence.”

”Got it!” The red-faced male wizard made a receiving gesture, tightened the gloves on his hand, and strode directly towards the back of the tent.

These cautious and prudent arrangements faced no objections from either the main hunter or the diviner, allowing Zheng Qing to relax a little and clear his mind.

”I’ll quickly draw a few common talismans... Everyone should report immediately if there are any issues.” Saying this, the leader of the Absolution Hunting Team had already taken out yellow paper and various tools for talisman painting, kneeling directly on the ground despite the dust, starting to draw his talisman.

To increase his chances of success, he even placed a small ’Wu’ red paper position beside him. This was something he had gone to the school hospital to request again out of sheer boredom over the summer break.

”What about me? What should I do?” Li Meng, having waited for a while without hearing her own assignment, was a bit displeased: ”I’m part of the team too!”

”You go help the doctor pick up bones.” Zheng Qing replied without raising his head, brushing her off.

”Hmph!” The little witch stomped off angrily.

Her distant grumbling could be heard faintly: ”... a college student... picking bones? ... I was at Greenhill Mansion... Su Daxu... Poseidon...”

Xin seemed to have heard fragments of Li Meng’s words.

”Hmm, speaking of Su Daxu, who exactly is her husband?” The fat man, out of a journalist’s professional integrity, was still intrigued by an investigation he once conducted: ”It’s been more than half a year, and there’s still no hint... Truly a big wizard.”

Jiang Yu cast a silent glance at the warlock who was busy painting talismans with his butt raised.

The warlock inexplicably felt a bit flustered, causing his brush to shake uncontrollably, and the yet incomplete symbol gall on the talisman paper to instantly become fragmented.
