High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1815: Chapter 36: Three Little Pigs

Before Zheng Qing submitted his homework, the corner was occupied only by him, Xin, and Xiao Xiao.

When he returned, another figure appeared in front of Xiao Xiao’s desk - the lead hunter of the Absolution Hunting Team, the younger brother of the new ’Lei Zhe’, the red-faced male wizard, Zhang Ji Xin.

That night, he wasn’t wearing a robe but a brand new dark red dragon leather jacket, adorned with shiny brass buttons and rings, with fringes resembling iguana spines on the back of the elbows. Below, he wore hunting pants of a similar color, and the Law book was tucked in a calfskin book holder, hung on the belt at his waist. Around the belt were many long, thin bottles containing colorful magic potions. On his feet were Hermes series magic boots, whose most famous feature was the tiny wings at the back that flapped occasionally.

Clearly, Zhang Ji Xin had a pleasant summer vacation.

Upon hearing Zheng Qing’s greeting, the red-faced male wizard turned around, adopting a serious expression unlike his usual carefree demeanor, and nodded sternly, ”Good evening, Captain!”

Then he took a brass-cased pocket watch from his belt, looked at the time, and added in a serious manner, ”Hmm, I entered the classroom at 7:03.”

Zheng Qing’s mouth slightly opened, staring at the red-faced male wizard in a daze, then slowly tilted his head toward Xin Fat Man and Xiao Xiao. Xiao Xiao showed no reaction, but Fat Man mouthed the words ’show-off’ silently.

The young cost student almost burst into laughter.

He lifted his hand to rub his stiffened face, took a breath, and then looked up at Zhang Ji Xin again, ”Uh, good evening, good evening... Have you submitted your homework?”

”Submitted long ago.” Zhang Ji Xin continued with a serious face, ”My brother said that students should act like students; submitting homework is a student’s duty, so I sent the homework to Tang Dun early through a white crane from home.”

”You have white cranes at home?”

”Not on Buji Island, in the old residence; the yard there has a large enough lake to keep them.”

”Wow,” Zheng Qing responded with an unintelligible exclamation, quickly pondering what to say to alleviate the awkwardness, ”This jacket is really nice, suits your style.”

Zhang Ji Xin’s eyes lit up, he reached out to dust the nonexistent dust on his sleeve, and his seriousness diminished a bit, ”Right? I think so too... My brother bought it for me... On the day his succession notice arrived, the whole family was thrilled, he smashed open three little piggy banks to buy us gifts.”

”Three... little pigs?”

”Oh, they are a type of piggy bank developed by the Martin-Tor Company.”

The red-faced male wizard patiently explained, ”... They look like little pigs and like to run around. They can sniff out the coins you forget in places you don’t notice and eat them... After getting full, they like to hide in places where wizards can’t find them. Of course, if you are willing to ’feed’ them occasionally, they’ll settle close to you. The three little pigs my brother smashed were living under his bed.”

”This is considered a form of forced savings.” Xiao Xiao commented with interest as he adjusted his glasses, ”Since the Wizard Union Bank published the ’Wizard’s Century-Long Debt Change White Paper’, the Alliance has been very attentive to the debt situation of ordinary wizards; Martin Company developed this product and got quite a bit of subsidies.”

Although the atmosphere of the conversation improved significantly, Zheng Qing still felt the situation was veering in a somewhat strange direction. He maintained a stiff smile, nodding continuously, occasionally uttering exaggerated wows.

Finally, when everyone quieted down, Zheng Qing seized the opportunity to steer the topic back to what concerned him. ”By the way, I forgot to congratulate your brother on becoming this year’s ’Lei Zhe’...”

Xin Fat Man suddenly looked up, interrupting Zheng Qing’s congratulations, and eagerly asked Zhang Ji Xin, ”So, have you visited the ’Will’ office? Is there really a dragon skull in their conference room?”

Zheng Qing turned to glower at Fat Man.

Fat Man fiddled with his feather pen, pretending not to notice the angry look from the cost student.

”There is indeed.”

When discussing this topic, Zhang Ji Xin immediately forgot about his brother’s piggy banks, and his ruddy face seemed to glow, looking extraordinarily lively, ”It’s the skull of a Tanggula Ice Chi, it feels like ice when you touch it. It’s said that one of the Lei Zhe from a previous term got it at a school hunting party, and instead of selling it, it has been placed in the conference room ever since.”

Wow!

The onlookers clicked their tongues in amazement.

This time, Zheng Qing’s admiration was genuine; he momentarily couldn’t imagine what a dragon skull that felt like ice would look like, or whether its eye sockets would emit white mist.

As soon as the expressions of wonder paused, Zheng Qing immediately asked, ”Did your brother mention what the Trident Sword and the School Works Committee are busy with? The incident on Pedestrian Street was so big this morning, yet they were so late!”

The question transition was a bit abrupt.

But it’s a question that Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man care about as well.

After leaving the Pedestrian Street in the morning, the three discussed it for a long time but found no answer. Now that they ran into Zhang Ji Xin, who had ’special news channels’, naturally, they wouldn’t let him off.

Zhang Ji Xin pondered for a few seconds, then bewilderedly asked, ”Something happened on Pedestrian Street this morning?”

Everyone exchanged glances, Zheng Qing patiently recounted the accident on Pedestrian Street - including the characteristics of the bald Black Wizard’s tattoo and that his target was the D&K’s Mouse People shop assistant - in detail.

After hearing Zheng Qing’s description, the red-faced male wizard frowned, his previously relaxed expression turning serious again, ”I don’t know what they’re busy with either, I’ve been spending time with my brother these days, but there’s been some trouble with the Northern District Wizards, although neither Trident Sword nor School Works Committee have contacted him, but...”

At the mention of ’but’, Zheng Qing immediately perked his ears, but the words were long in coming. Looking up, he saw Zhang Ji Xin’s face showing difficulty, as if hesitating whether to speak.

Pa!

Xin Fat Man smacked Zhang Ji Xin on the shoulder, shouting, ”If you can speak, then speak, if not, then don’t. What’s the purpose of looking troubled? I’ve long wanted to tell you, acting all evasive all night... Your brother becoming Lei Zhe, what’s it to you!”

The words were slightly sharp, Zheng Qing worried they might cause a rift between the two, but Zhang Ji Xin chuckled instead, and though his face grew redder, his smile seemed more genuine.

”It’s my brother who told me to be mindful in my words and actions, not to cause him trouble.”

He glanced around, lowered his voice and chuckled apologetically, ”I don’t want it either, but he’ll hit me if I cause trouble... You guys don’t know, after the Black Prison incident, my grandfather hit my dad, my dad hit my eldest brother, eldest brother hit the second brother, second brother hit the third brother, third brother hit the fourth brother... The fourth brother just became Lei Zhe, was the most aggressive... And then he hit me, I was bedridden for a week!”
