High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1335: Chapter 82: The Teacher’s Second Lesson

”Sir, how is Elena doing? When can I visit her?”

”When she is ready.”

”Ready?”

”I can responsibly say that in this world, the reasons that make us want to keep living, besides oxygen, love, and hope, there are some even more important elements. Such as waiting.”

”Waiting is a virtue, it is also a way to make love and hope grow richer over time. You are only eighteen...”

”Nineteen, sir.” The young cost student had to quietly interject: ”I am already nineteen.”

”Almost,” the sir waved his hand, not caring about this detail: ”To me, whether eighteen or eighty, you are still children. There is no difference.”

The sir always had a way of saying things that Zheng Qing could not refute.

”...You are all still young, you have long days ahead. A colorful world awaits your exploration. You might become great wizards, dating at the end of time... All it takes is a bit, patience and waiting.”

That’s two things, Zheng Qing muttered in his heart, while thinking somewhat melancholically—hmm, dating at the end of time sounds difficult. Is this another way of describing love beyond death?

During the conversation, the two kept walking through the dense mist.

Zheng Qing did not know where the sir was taking him, nor did he oppose strolling a bit longer with the sir. But he didn’t like it to be too quiet while walking. It made him feel the air was filled with awkwardness.

Because during last week’s meeting, the young wizard had already reported all recent events at the school to the sir. So, this time, it was hard for him to be as talkative as before.

After racking his brains for a long time, Zheng Qing finally thought of an interesting topic.

”Sir,” the boy licked his lips, asking softly, ”In this week’s Curse Course, Professor Yao taught us some concepts regarding the Yuan Chen Guardian Spell... The professor said, the spell’s function is to create a ’path marker’?”

”That’s right.” The sir answered briefly.

But this was not the answer Zheng Qing was looking for.

”That means, the spell is of no use to me, right?” The young cost student analyzed: ”You said before, because of the Forbidden Curse, my path in magic has already a very clear foundation, I just need to follow the well-planned ’path’ to go a very long distance...”

The sir turned his head, glancing at him.

”The study of magic is a gradual process,” he replied. ”Every bit of knowledge gained is very important. Just like a penniless person suddenly inheriting a large amount of gold, if he doesn’t learn how to maintain and increase the value of that gold, and doesn’t learn how to control his spending, that gold will eventually disappear completely like flowing water.”

”You also don’t want every time you use a Forbidden Curse, it explodes right where you are, right?”

Zheng Qing shook his head vigorously: ”No.”

”So,” the sir nodded, ”the role of the Yuan Chen Guardian Spell is to help you build your own methodology of magic, perfecting your worldview of magic. You must master it well.”

”Will my True Form be two little people?” Zheng Qing couldn’t help but ask a question that had troubled him for a long time.

He clearly remembered that after releasing the Yuan Chen Guardian Spell, what appeared were two little figures: one dressed in a white long robe, wearing a high horn crown, hands tucked in the sleeves, with a scroll and a pen floating in front of him; the other wearing a black short shirt, wearing a horse-face mask, a black iron chain wrapped around his neck, holding a dagger in hand.

The sir’s hand on the boy’s shoulder exerted a slight force, almost pressing him to the ground.

”Many people’s biggest problem is thinking too much and doing too little,” the sir sighed slightly. ”What does the True Form look like? What is the essence of the True Form? How to condense the True Form?... These questions are not something you should concern yourself with now. They are farther away from you than the distance from Earth to Duo Nuo Star.”

”The path is beneath your feet. You may occasionally look up at the sky, but more attention should be on the path under your feet. Don’t be like the Thales of Ionia, who only stares at the stars while walking, but ends up falling into a pit.”

”But don’t feel uneasy. I really like the way you ask questions.”

”This fits very well with today’s lesson.”

Zheng Qing did not speak, but continued to listen quietly, unconsciously recalling the content of the last class. In the last lesson, the sir had shown him two cases, destroyed two faint hopes, and then told him not to feel uneasy about the destruction of those two faint hopes.

Because the benevolent are without worries.

As long as...

Dense fog suddenly dissipated, interrupting the boy’s memories. A beautifully crafted octagonal pavilion appeared before Zheng Qing’s eyes, its beams and eaves exquisitely carved, no one inside, but with a large floor mirror placed there, looking quite strange.

The sir brought Zheng Qing to wait for a few seconds on the steps in front of the pavilion before stepping up.

”What time is it?” Standing in front of that mirror, the sir suddenly asked.

Zheng Qing was stunned for a moment, hurriedly fished out his silver-cased pocket watch from the grey cloth bag. Opening the cover, the hands pointed at 1:46 PM.

As the boy was about to answer, the pocket watch suddenly emitted a layer of light, and the hour hand inside started spinning wildly. Irregularly, it spun forward over ten times, then reversed seven or eight times. The minute hand, as if having epilepsy, shook vigorously on the spot.

Zheng Qing had every reason to believe that if it weren’t for the quartz case restraining it, the minute hand would definitely jump out of the pocket watch and hop onto the ground.

The young wizard was dumbstruck, staring at the mad pocket watch for a few seconds before remembering to look up and ask the sir. But when he looked up, he saw the sir looking interestedly outside the pavilion.

Following the sir’s gaze, Zheng Qing looked outside to find that as the pocket watch went mad, the fog that was isolated outside also began to roll violently. It was as if a dozen giant dragons were wrestling in the fog, or like the roaring sea under a storm.

The surging fog came wave after wave, striking the pavilion under their feet, but not a trace of it could enter.

”What time is it?” The sir asked once again.

Zheng Qing subconsciously glanced at the pocket watch in his hand, the frenzy of the hour hand seemed to have passed, and its spinning was slowing down. He waited a few more seconds, and the hour hand finally stopped spinning, stopping at the position of eleven.

And the minute hand didn’t act out alone; in the instant the hour hand stopped spinning, it finally jerked once, jumping from the forty-six minute position to forty-seven.

”Eleven forty-seven PM,” the boy licked his lips and answered in a hoarse voice.
