High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1326: Chapter 73: Adults Only See Positions

Heavenly Mansion was the Zhang family’s residence in the West District of Beta Town, not far from Greenhill Mansion. However, Zheng Qing had never paid a visit.

For Uncle Zhang Zhi’s invitation, Zheng Qing took it merely as a courtesy.

So he repeatedly nodded his head, ambiguously agreeing.

In the end Uncle Zhang Zhi nodded at Sepulano and then left. Zhang Ji Xin made a helpless gesture to Zheng Qing and quickly followed his brother.

Only Sepulano, Andrew, Zheng Qing, and Xiao Xiao were left in the room.

Zheng Qing did not feel there was anything to talk about with Sepulano, but out of politeness, he felt he needed to say goodbye first. Before he could say his ’polite words,’ Sepulano turned to Andrew and said,

”The goods from Iseni should have arrived, take them to receive it... prepare to go back to school.”

Andrew obeyed and left.

Sepulano then looked at Xiao Xiao.

”Doctor Xiao, I’ve heard much about you.” His cheeks squished against each other as he formed a smile, ”I heard you’re interested in Divination? Just now, as I was passing by the Seventeenth shop, I saw the owner selling a 1904 edition of ’Book of Law,’ with a supplement written by Aleister Crowley himself on Thoth Tarot Divination Elements. You might be interested. It’s not too late to go now... Rarely do Fishmen take an interest in Tarot Cards.”

Thoth Tarot is a divination skill within Tarot, and Crowley was a very famous mysticism expert in the wizard world from the 19th to the 20th century. ”Book of Law” is a legendary work said to have been inspired by ’mystical beings.’

Xiao Xiao raised his eyebrows.

He was indeed interested in the items Sepulano mentioned.

But it was too obvious that the big snake before him was trying to lure him away — almost overtly. Xiao Xiao turned and looked at Zheng Qing, seeking his opinion.

Zheng Qing also came to his senses.

Did Sepulano have something he wanted to say in private? He looked around, their location was somewhat hidden but still within everyone’s view, so this fat wizard would not find it easy to strike at him.

So he mentally visualized his Colt Python while pulling a smile, saying to the Doctor, ”You go ahead and take a look... If the book is suitable, we can buy it through the D&K account. Remember to get a receipt.”

Xiao Xiao silently nodded and stealthily left.

Sepulano watched the two with approval.

”Seeing the micro signs.” He strained to produce a smile, ”A wizard who can be so meticulous in minor matters will surely accomplish great things in the future.”

Zheng Qing was startled.

What the hell, was Sepulano complimenting him?

He subconsciously looked around again, was there no one nearby? Who was he performing this act for? Did he really think he had done well just now? Don’t joke!

In Zheng Qing’s view, his relationship with Sepulano was never good. Just nodding to each other when they met, maintaining the most minimal collegial relationship for the face of others.

So, when Sepulano unexpectedly complimented him like that, Zheng Qing’s first reaction was to wonder if he was plotting something.

”Do you have something on your mind?” the warlock asked cautiously.

Sepulano lowered his eyelids, seemingly considering how to answer the question.

After a long while, he finally spoke abruptly,

”Have you ever hunted a Wild Demon?”

This question was miles apart from the previous topic, and Zheng Qing was unsure what Sepulano intended to convey, responding vaguely, ”The kind of ’hunting’ in Hunting Meetings? Absolution did train in a similar subject...”

The Fat Wizard seemed not to have heard his answer and slowly began to speak on his own:

”I have hunted one—a Wild Wolf Demon.”

”It was a hunting ground filled with shrubs, meadows, and swamps. The Wild Wolf Demon wasn’t very strong, having only about half the strength of a registered wizard. At that time, I was the Hunter in the hunting team. In order to find the pack of this wolf demon, I did not kill it immediately but instead marked it and followed behind it for two whole days...”

At this point, Zheng Qing listened more intently—he could not recall any hunting competition in school that involved a two-day-long search, so he guessed that this must be a competition Sepulano participated in outside of school.

”...for two whole days,” Sepulano’s tone suddenly became a bit melancholic, ”that old wolf led me around that swamp area, nearly driving me into the lair of a group of Greens.”

As everyone knows, a single Green is just a slightly disgusting sprite, but a group of Greens, especially those with lairs, are even more dreadful than Ogubugus.

Ogubugus are serpentine Water Beasts that like to devour animals crossing over water and are said to grow over a hundred meters long. During his visit to the market, Zheng Qing had seen vendors selling amulets supposedly made from Ogubugu scales, but he was skeptical that it was merely a gimmick.

”...like this, it ran, I chased; it kept running, I kept on chasing... I guessed it wouldn’t last much longer. Then suddenly, in a moment, it just vanishing.”

”Vanished?” Zheng Qing raised his eyebrows, ”Right before your eyes? Was it a Ghost wolf?”

Ghost wolves are also a type of Wolf Demon, known for their mysterious and elusive appearances, often leading hunters to lose their tracks during hunts.

”Yes, right before my eyes, but it wasn’t a Ghost wolf—it was just an ordinary Ghost Fire Wolf.” Sepulano, folding his arms, let his gaze fall on the distant noisy crowd and spoke softly, ”Like a snowflake melting, it disappeared without a trace. No footprints, no scent, even the mark I had placed on it was gone... Although it seems unbelievable, this wasn’t without precedent in the history of hunting competitions... I thought it had fallen into a spatial rift, so I could only accept my misfortune and return to the hunting team.”

”Because we lacked a pack of Wolf Demons, our hunting team ultimately lost that competition.”

”Only after the competition ended did I find out that the old wolf, unable to escape my pursuit, chose to sink itself into the swamp to protect its pack.”

”The swamp’s deep waters and thick mud had blocked the magic mark.”

At this point, Sepulano sighed softly, seemingly reminiscing about the emotions experienced during previous hunts. Meanwhile, Zheng Qing was trying hard to extract the elements of the story just told, searching for the deeper meaning Sepulano wished to convey.

”I have no other intention by telling this story,” Sepulano did not let the warlock remain puzzled for long, explaining directly, ”It’s just that recently, with many burdens on my mind, I’ve become reflective. Everyone has their own stance, and everyone makes their own choices.”

”People often say, ’good begets good and evil begets evil’... but that statement is actually incorrect.”

”Good and evil are very complex concepts. What is honey for one may be poison for another. How can they be equated so simply?”

”Only children speak of good and evil, adults only consider their stances.”

”We are all adults now.”
