High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1320: Chapter 67 Visitors’ Bay

Poseidon now spent most of his time at Greenhill Mansion.

When Zheng Qing went to pick up the little guy, he saw Su Ya in the garden of house no. 54 in the Beta Town West District, busy weeding the watermelons.

The sun, rain, and magic nourished the little garden together, and the watermelons grew pleasingly large, almost as big as the houses of the Hobbits. Speaking of weeding, Zheng Qing felt that Su Ya was just looking for an excuse to play as she knitted colorful yarn and petals into outfits for every grass spirit she could catch.

The grass spirits lay in the hands of the Little Fox Maid like corpses, allowing her to fiddle with them.

”You’re suppressing their natural instincts,” the young cost student advised kindly from outside the fence, ”The book says that grass spirits prefer to wear clothes made from bulrush and paulownia leaves... not petals.”

Su Ya immediately hid her ’little toy’ behind her back, stood up, and looked at the visitor with a wary face, ”None of your business... What are you here for?”

Because she got up a bit too quickly, her large tail accidentally slipped out from under her skirt, revealing a furry tail tip.

Noticing the Warlock’s gaze, the Little Fox shrieked, flung the grass spirit at Zheng Qing, and then ran towards the mansion, wailing as she ran, ”Indecency!”

Zheng Qing felt a headache come on.

The thrown grass spirit traced a beautiful arc in mid-air and eventually smashed onto the young cost student.

It reached out its slender nails, deftly hooked onto a gap in the Warlock’s cloak, and landed steadily on his shoulder. Before it could fully regain its balance, it quickly removed all the messy flower petal yarns from its body—utterly unlike its limp demeanor just seconds earlier—then scampered away through the seams of the Warlock’s cloak.

Completely naked.

Zheng Qing watched the grass spirit for a while and then turned back just in time to catch Xiao Xiao’s questioning look.

”I remember reading that grass spirits are asexual, so I was curious.” The young cost student shrugged: ”I just took a closer look, indeed, they’re not like us...”

This time, it was Xiao Xiao’s turn to give him a strange look.

”Bang!”

The front hall gate of Qingqiu Mansion made a loud noise, then a white figure dashed through the garden, leaped over the fence, and crashed into Zheng Qing’s arms, making him stagger.

”Murder!” The Warlock felt a tightness in his chest and then saw the Little Fox with a few crumbs of cake on the corner of its mouth, he cried out, ”How many times have I told you, less cake, more exercise, why don’t you listen? Ladies and Gentlemen should be skinny!”

Poseidon swiped his tail across the Warlock’s face, making him squint.

By the time he reopened his eyes, the crumbs on the Little Fox’s mouth had been licked clean without a trace. Meanwhile, it sucked in its breath, making its tiny waist appear even slimmer.

Heh, a foolish creature, deceiving itself.

Following the Little Fox at the doorway was Greenhill Mansion’s Head Maid, Su Man. Su Ya hid behind her, peeking her little head out, and glared at Zheng Qing, grinding her teeth.

”The lady already knows your purpose.” The Head Maid, dressed in a pristine long robe, held her hands in front of her and lowered her head slightly: ”She told Dong Dong to go early and return early, be safe... and not to eat the ’Live Maggot Cheese’ or blue cheese sold by the mermaids.”

Zheng Qing nodded obediently.

The head maid bowed slightly once again, then quietly took the little fox lady and withdrew.

The warlock turned his head toward his companion and complained, ”Who would eat maggots?”

”Live Maggot Cheese,” a unique mermaid delicacy with a taste far superior to frog innards. ”Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean the foxes have the same preference... Speaking of which, haven’t you noticed that Qingqiu Mansion is quite interested in your Little Fox?” the doctor analyzed patiently.

Zheng Qing’s heart tightened, and with a forced laugh, he brushed off the topic.

...

...

The venue for the Quanke Fair was set up by the side of the mouth of the Silent River, in a quiet little bay.

The bay didn’t have a name because it was temporarily named ’Visitors’ Bay’ for the purpose of the fair.

The shallow waters of the bay were clear, and the rugged shore was lined with bare rocks, hiding no traces of magic—both the guests from the shore and the merchants from the water felt a sense of security looking at such an environment.

The meeting place agreed upon by Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu was at the entrance of Visitors’ Bay.

It was still early.

Zheng Qing decided to arrive a bit earlier to familiarize himself with the entrance and exit procedures of the fair, to avoid showing any timidity under the scrutiny of the public eye.

It was not a difficult task; all the young man had to do was spend some time observing the entrance of Visitors’ Bay. He saw wizards, dressed in various-colored robes and cloaks, coming from all directions of Buji Island and entering through a hole in a decayed oak tree at the end of the water bay—some, like Zheng Qing, had used the fast track from First Square, but many others had arrived on brooms, magic carpets, or even riding giant eagles and flying horses.

They carelessly left their means of transportation on the vacant land outside the oak tree.

Brooms or magic carpets were fine, being Alchemy Products lacking independent consciousness, staying put obediently after being discarded. However, the giant eagles and flying horses, once their owners entered the tree hole, were let loose.

In just over ten minutes, Zheng Qing witnessed three incidents of animals fighting.

”Doesn’t the school manage this?” The warlock looked at the chaotic scene uneasily.

”Why manage it? How to manage it?” Xiao Xiao played with his goat beard and retorted, ”The school already has enough on its plate, do they really need to manage animal fights too?”

”Squeak squeak!” Poseidon expressed agreement with two calls.

Zheng Qing scratched its ears and dropped the topic, pulling out an invitation from Professor Garcia from the grey cloth bag. The cover of the invitation had a silver-threaded oak tree marking, almost identical to the oak tree that the wizards had entered.

”This is it,” he repeated to himself as if to muster courage, ”yes, this is definitely it.”

The rotten oak tree hole didn’t look large from the outside, but entering the hole revealed a different world. A pond, spanning a square mile, occupied most of the space inside the hole, with mist hanging heavily above it, where one could faintly see many fish-shaped spirits fluctuating.

”Bubble Head Charm, sir?” an enthusiastic voice interrupted the client’s thoughts.

Zheng Qing turned around, and a large goldfish with bulging eyes was propping itself up with its tail, looking at him. Its mouth opening and closing, the aquatic’s enthusiasm was palpable, ”Five coppers for one night, honest to all ages... Although the Bubble Head Charm is not needed inside the fair, it’s absolutely necessary for the loose stalls outside the fair in the water. Would you like one, sir?”
