High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1306: Chapter 53: 12 Zhou Weekly Meeting

The twelfth week’s regular meeting was exceedingly brief.

Professor Yao reportedly had urgent matters to attend to, and sent only a projection to the classroom. After a quick summary and arrangement, the projection dispersed, leaving the classroom full of students staring at each other with wide eyes and small eyes.

Liu Fei Fei was the first to snap back to reality.

Just a few seconds after Professor Yao’s projection disappeared, she jumped up from her seat, clutching her books and review materials, and ran out of the classroom. Laughter filled with goodwill followed her; everyone knew she was off to study with Nicholas.

Ever since the incident at Lakeside of Bell Lake, Nicholas had not appeared in the Astronomy Class 08-1 classroom for a week. Liu Fei Fei had been helping him catch up with all his coursework, and she also submitted all his assignments through her.

Following closely behind Liu Fei Fei was Tang Dun.

He shouted loudly, urging the students who had not yet submitted their homework to hurry and do so. He repeated the phrase that all the professors had been emphasizing lately, ”There are only four weeks left until the final exam, and this exam will determine whether everyone can advance to the second year, so make sure to make good use of the time and go over past exam papers multiple times!... Is anyone applying to go together to the library or study room to reserve seats?”

Immediately, several classmates raised their hands, responding to the monitor’s call.

As finals approached, both library and study room seats were in high demand, prompting many students to form groups to help reserve spots. Often, one person carrying seven or eight books could occupy an entire large table. Although it seemed a bit unsightly, at crucial times, nobody cared too much about appearances.

Besides Tang Dun, there were several other active individuals in the class.

For example, Xiao Xiao, who was still looking for people to sign something, or Li Meng, who was dancing with Sprites, and then there was Zhang Ji Xin.

Zhang Ji Xin was clutching a stack of thick flyers, distributing them throughout the classroom, stuffing one into anyone he came across, his smile bright, much like those preachers from Atlas Academy proclaiming ”God’s Glory”. However, on his flyers, there was no mention of any divine names or the Holy Spirit, but rather the credentials of Uncle Zhang Zhi.

Zheng Qing also held one of these flyers in his hand.

On the dark red hard paper, half the space was occupied by Uncle Zhang Zhi’s naive smiling face, waving his hand, while the other half was crammed with the credentials of this student trying to earn the title of ”Lei Zhe”—such as continuously obtaining cost student status for three years, vice-captain of the First University hunting team, vice president of Sacred Will, the best hunter of the 2007-2008 First University hunting competition, consistently having an average GPA of above 4.7 for three years., ”Magic Wand” Small Arcana Wand Sequence One, etc.

The array of achievements was breathtaking.

If Uncle Zhang didn’t happen to have a red face similar to Zhang Ji Xin’s, Zheng Qing would never dare to believe that Zhang Ji Xin had a brother with such outstanding credentials—he suspected that the spiritual heritage left by the Zhang family ancestors had been too overwhelmingly claimed by Zhang Ji Xin’s several brothers, leaving Elder Zhang Da with nothing but muscles in his brain.

”I think the Elder Council will ask you to be an officer or advisor or something in his brother’s support club... After all, you’re quite a celebrity yourself.” Xin Fat Man said, clutching his notebook, his chubby face filled with sighs, ”I’m different... Did you know, the elder just asked me to write an advertorial praising his brother, and in return, he’s willing to buy me breakfast for a week.”

”That’s a good deal,” Zheng Qing responded noncommittally, his gaze falling on the seat that Elena usually occupied.

The desk was empty and seemed to have gathered a layer of dust.

In the past week, Zheng Qing had repeatedly asked the professor if he could visit the Gypsy witch, but his requests had always been denied. He also tried to pry open the window of the San You Bookstore next to D&K to find his way back home. Besides getting a mouthful of dust, he only managed to find a few cat hairs.

The Yellow Flowered Cat was nowhere to be seen.

According to the ”Ears Brother” working at D&K, that Flower Cat had been trying to trace its ancestral lineage lately.

”That cat is up to no good!” Ding Dang Ear’s slightly sharp voice still echoed in the warlock’s ears.

As he returned to his senses, Xin Fat Man was still prattling on about the recent incident:

”... Writing soft advertising articles is against my professional ethics!”

Xin Fat Man tried hard to squeeze a bit of seriousness onto his face. However, because his sense of justice was always scarce, forcibly doing so only made his chubby face seem more comical.

”Ethics? Hey, that’s a novel term.” Zheng Qing mocked with a glance at Fat Man, ”Didn’t the campus newspaper publish soft articles about Zhao Qiao and Hoffman a couple of days ago? If a monk can write them, why can’t you?”

Fat Man raised his eyebrows, about to say something, when the voice of Zhang Ji Xin distributing flyers nearby stole his attention, ”Please support Uncle Zhang Zhi to become the new ’Lei Zhe.’ When he deals with Alpha, he will make no concessions! He will absolutely uphold the pride of Jiuyou Academy!”

The two ”absolutely”s made Fat Man, who had wanted to argue, shut his mouth.

”Hey, Brother Qing, you haven’t left yet? That’s great!” Zhang Ji Xin, holding a stack of brochures, walked to Zheng Qing’s desk and sighed heavily, ”I’ve been wanting to talk to you before the meeting, but never got the chance. Hmm, do you have time tonight? I remember you’re usually free on Sunday evenings... My brother wants to have tea with you, just on the Pedestrian Street, very close...”

Fat Man stood behind Zhang Ji Xin, his face showing a gloating expression.

Zheng Qing flashed an awkward smile.

”I have other plans tonight... I’ve already made arrangements,” he replied weakly.

”Already made arrangements?” Zhang Ji Xin looked at him skeptically, ”Don’t deceive me... Don’t you usually go to the library to do homework on Sundays?”

”Today he is accompanying me to North Beta Town, to visit Sister Korma and discuss things about Nicolas,” an indifferent voice suddenly came from behind Zhang Ji Xin.

Even Xin Fat Man jumped with surprise.

Jiang Da Headmaster, holding several books and standing behind a few boys, saw the warlocks turn around, blinked, and showed a mischievous smile, ”First come, first served... We need to follow the rules.”

Li Meng stood beside Jiang Yu, glaring fiercely at Zheng Qing; a few sprites in gray uniforms nestled on her shoulder. Zheng Qing felt his earlobes heating up.

He cleared his throat quietly.

”R... rules?” Hearing Jiang Yu’s words, Zhang Ji Xin was clearly caught off guard and, after a few seconds of stunned silence, finally responded, ”Didn’t you already discuss this matter with Sister Korma last week?”

Zheng Qing’s visit to Gini Cottage last weekend had already been reported at the Absolution Hunting Team meeting. Due to the potential risks posed by the Black Wizard, he needed to alert his team members to be more vigilant.

”Yes, last week we talked about sending Nicolas over, this week we’re discussing bringing him back,” the witch retorted, obviously impatient, ”Or would you like to take responsibility for this?”

”No, no, no,” Zhang Ji Xin waved his hands frantically, afraid that Jiang Da Headmaster might push this burden onto him, ”Just curious... was just curious.”

”So, student Zheng Qing...”

”He’s yours,” Elder Zhang Da grabbed Zheng Qing by the shoulder, holding him like a chicken’s neck, and pushed him towards the witch, ”Without a doubt... he’s yours!”

During the whole process, the young public expense student had no power to fight back or to intervene.

He could only maintain that awkward yet polite smile on his face.

Xin Fat Man hid his head under the desk, his shoulders shaking violently, like a hamster sneaking popcorn. Zheng Qing could faintly hear him painfully wheezing from laughter.
