High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 935: Chapter 283: Winter Vacation Plan (3)

Zheng Qing glanced at Doctor Xiao and thought he resembled an agitated little hedgehog.

”What’s with him today, why is he so irritable?” the young cost student, Zhang, mouthed wordlessly to Xin Fat Man, asking with his silent lip movements.

The Fat Man clearly had no clue about teamwork or discreet collaboration.

”Oh, it’s all because of Mister Sima,” the Fat Man said nonchalantly, his voice booming, ”The winter break is almost here, and Mister Sima can’t go home with him. It’s natural for him to be a bit moody... Didn’t you know? By the way, who are you planning to take home for the New Year?”

Zheng Qing’s face darkened, and he nearly threw the law book in his hand, aiming it at the Fat Man’s face.

What does ’Who are you planning to take home this year’ even mean?

Could such messy topics be discussed so casually and openly?

Zheng Qing only ’almost’ did it, but someone else took action.

Before the Fat Man could finish speaking, Xiao Xiao’s black hardcover notebook, which never left his hand, traced a beautiful arc in mid-air and ’smack’ landed on his exposed, pale belly.

The whack startled the Fat Cat that was blissfully stepping on the belly, causing its sharp claws to ’swoosh’ out from between its toes.

”Ah... Ah!”

Xin Fat Man immediately let out two short, piercing screams.

The first scream was because Xiao Xiao’s hardcover notebook had hit his belly, causing him a great deal of pain.

The second scream was due to Tuan Tuan’s claws piercing unimpeded into his belly, inflicting secondary harm to the Fat Man’s body and soul.

Dylan, who had been feigning sleep inside the coffin until now, couldn’t hold back any longer, ripped open the curtain, and burst into hysterical laughter.

Zheng Qing ignored the Fat Man’s tragic situation and turned to look at Xiao Xiao.

”Will the school agree?” He was already seriously considering Xin Fat Man’s previous suggestion and planning to take a stroll around North Beta Town. However, before he made a final decision, he needed to confirm some details, ”Like after the holiday, is it fine for students to wander between different academies? And with the atmosphere around the school being so tense recently, does the school allow us to go to the North District? Do we need to get a pass from the professor?”

”After the holiday, as long as you don’t smash windows or set fires inside the school, why would the school care so much about what you do?” Xiao Xiao rolled his eyes, directed the Sprites to lift his notebook from the Fat Man’s belly, and explained irritably, ”The school has always been about avoiding trouble if possible, taking on as little responsibility as they can... Besides, the North District isn’t Silent Forest, it’s just that there are more Tricksters around. Other wizards don’t want to go because they’re afraid of losing face, do you guys have such concerns?”

Zheng Qing decisively shook his head.

”So, you see,” Xiao Xiao took his notebook back from the Sprites, reopened it, and placed it back on his face, speaking in a muffled tone, ”we are all adults now, the school won’t and can’t control what you plan to do after the holiday.”

Dylan, who had been peeking out of the coffin, also stopped laughing at this point.

He wiped the corner of his eye and added, ”The school is not a prison, the different academies just have some minor philosophical disagreements, but they don’t avoid each other like the plague... As long as we are students of First University, we are free to visit different academies. Otherwise, as a stay-back student like me, where would I live during the winter break?”

When First University arranges dormitories, they particularly like to mix students from different academies together, ostensibly to create a harmonious campus environment. Dylan’s placement in Room 403 is a result of such arrangements.

After listening to the analysis of his two roommates, Zheng Qing nodded, finding their points to be quite sensible.

”Oh, by the way, call me when you guys decide to go,” Xiao Xiao suddenly lifted a corner of his notebook, revealing half of his face, and snorted: ”Count me in... A Trickster current situation investigation sounds like a decent research project.”

”Did we say we wanted you?” Xin Fat Man finally found a chance to retaliate, majestically sat up from his bunk, and cursed heaven and earth: ”I, Bayer, would rather go to North District by myself, to go with mice, to go with fishmen, but I absolutely wouldn’t go with you!”

Tuan Tuan crouched on Fat Man’s leg, joining in with woeful cries, looking as if united in the cause of shared enmity.

Zheng Qing stared expressionlessly at one fat man and one cat... Oh, it was two fats for a moment, then turned his head to look at Mister Blood Werewolf, who was lying beside the coffin: ”Dylan? You said before you were staying at school for winter break... are you going? Tsk, your dark circles look pretty severe today, didn’t you get a good rest this morning?”

Vampires are cold-blooded creatures; they want to sleep when the weather is warm, especially in a warm room during winter, which is perfect for napping.

On the contrary, werewolves are warm-blooded creatures, always full of energy, very active.

Dylan had a combination of these conflicting characteristics; he liked to sleep but never slept soundly. This caused him to always have dark circles under his eyes, his eyelids half-drooping, always appearing languid and lazy.

”I’m waiting for the bats from home to bring me new cufflinks,” Dylan hung his head over the edge of the coffin and hummed listlessly.

Different from his state of hysterical laughter while pounding on the lid of the coffin a few minutes ago, his mood had once again sunk into a slump.

”Cufflinks? You have a lot of them here?!” Zheng Qing looked up in surprise, pointing at the mahogany wardrobe not far away.

Although the door of the cabinet wasn’t open, Zheng Qing had seen Dylan fiddle with its contents more than once.

Frankly, Zheng Qing thought that judging by the volume of clothing and accessories in the wardrobe, Dylan could wear them for four years without needing to buy anything new.

”But those have been worn already,” Dylan lifted his arm, flicked his finger, and the door of the mahogany wardrobe snapped open, followed by a series of differently colored, variously styled cufflinks flying out one by one, pairing up, and forming a long, single file on the bed edge.

Dylan’s fingers moved along the cufflinks, touching each one in turn, and said sullenly: ”Nah, this one, this one, this one... I’ve worn all these already. How can I go out and meet people with something I’ve already worn?”

Zheng Qing almost spat out a mouthful of old blood.

Although he often saw Dylan scrubbing his fangs with a little brush, he had never realized that Dylan was so particular about his clothing.

”In principle, you only need three pairs of cufflinks,” Xin Fat Man spoke mockingly.

Dylan ignored him.

”What about that pair of tortoiseshell ones? I’ve always thought their color looked good,” Zheng Qing looked at the row of hundreds of pairs of cufflinks and finally sighed, pointing at one pair to suggest.

”No,” Dylan shook his head firmly: ”Just because it looks too good, others will pay extra attention to it... I can’t let others notice that I’ve worn that pair of cufflinks before.”

”But people can see you going to class every day in the same robes,” Xin Fat Man curled his lip.

”True, I’ve never noticed you change different cuffs and ties every day,” Zheng Qing echoed with a statement.

”Matthew will notice, Friedman will notice, Adam will notice... even Taylor’s little tyke, I believe it could also pay attention!” Dylan stubbornly dismissed his roommates’ suggestions.

These reasons were so compelling that Zheng Qing was left speechless.
