High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 901: Chapter 249 Arrival

”Boom!”

A heavy wooden club smashed heavily into the soft snowy ground, creating a huge snow pit and scattering snowflakes in all directions. To call it a wooden club would actually be more akin to calling it a wooden hammer, for at the head of the club, there was a huge tree burl that resembled the head of a hammer.

The body of the wooden club wasn’t held in the hands of a wizard; instead, it was growing from a large tree.

Yes, this wooden club was the weapon of a ’Tree Man’.

When the bull-headed creature with red, wild eyes began to crazily uproot trees, the young wizards didn’t stop it. Instead, they cautiously constructed Defensive Magic Arrays, wary of the Minotaur’s actions. In their eyes, the Minotaur’s behavior seemed more like a kind of aftereffect of losing control.

Moreover, please, it was just a creature with a bull’s head - could you really expect its every move to have some deep meaning?

So, they quickly paid the price for their prejudice and negligence.

The Minotaur uprooted the trees, the tortoise-back inscribed Runes on the trunks, the beautiful serpent scattered potions, and finally, that sparkling individual endowed those trees with souls.

It wasn’t the traditional Druid Spells, but it had a wider range of application—another reason why the teaching assistants didn’t react immediately—even those saplings less than fifty years old were successfully awakened.

”Be careful!”

”Boom!”

An arm stretched over from behind and yanked hard, nearly dragging the young cost student to the ground. At the same time, the huge tree burl whizzed past his scalp and smashed firmly against a shield that the assistants had put up beside him, causing the shield to flicker chaotically, nearly shattering.

”These mutated Tree Men are not only thick-skinned but also unexpectedly agile...you had better not stand in place and prepare your spell like they teach you in textbooks,” Assistant Hilda said as she threw a Binding Spell toward the Tree Man and turned back to impart her experience to the young wizards.

Zheng Qing, with his soul still in shock, watched the Tree Man roar and struggle under the Binding Spell, nodding repeatedly.

”Also, if you don’t want to end up as a torch alongside those Tree Men, don’t use any spells that involve fire,” Mr. Yu cautioned lastly before turning away: ”A lot of the trees that Minotaur pulled out are pine and cypress, which are very flammable... Mr. Yu has just arranged for several supporters to prepare various water-related magics in the rear, to prevent the opponents from using a mutually destructive tactic. I suggest you do the same.”

...

...

When Su Shijun crossed through the temporary passage and came upon this Sandbox Mini World, the chaotic scene in the snowy field was nearing its conclusion.

The teaching assistants, despite their dazzling array of magic, ultimately had a gap in their rank. Being merely Registered wizards, they could only clumsily cope against the four Big Wizards’ Righteous Bodies.

If it hadn’t been for their greater numbers and initiative, their battle formation would have been dispersed by the opponents long ago.

Compared to the assistants, the Absolution Hunting Team, who weren’t even Registered wizards, could only contribute in a marginal role, like playing the tambourine or pouring oil. It was only because Zheng Qing could draw Runes on the spot, along with two Charm Guns for long-range support, that these proud talents from First University didn’t look too bad.

Of course, no matter how intense the battle was, the assistants always firmly stood at the very forefront of the fray, blocking those rampaging Tree Men and the four crazed Righteous Bodies in front of them with determination. It was a resolve that to harm the students behind them, one would have to step over their dead bodies.

”When will the school’s people arrive?!”

After another assistant was knocked back into the ranks by a Minotaur’s fist, spitting blood, Zheng Qing finally couldn’t restrain the anxiety in his heart and raised his head to look at the oscillating sky above.

As the battle grew fiercer, this temporarily constructed Sandbox Mini World was beginning to falter under the overflow of Magic Power, showing signs of collapsing. The irregularly shaped moon overhead was the best proof of this.

”If reinforcements don’t come within ten minutes, the school can only collect our corpses,” Xin Fat Man muttered while clutching a chicken leg, viciously tearing off a piece of meat. ”Even if I turned into the Blue Giant, I don’t have the confidence to break through the spatial turbulence and make it out alive.”

”Ten minutes?” Xiao Xiao, with her head down, fiddled with the Crystal Ball in her hands and snorted at the fat man’s speculation. ”Even if the assistants could hold out for that long, this space couldn’t last that long... In my opinion, five minutes, no more.”

This pessimistic view made the surrounding atmosphere even more depressed.

Zheng Qing had to find a way to change the subject, trying to make everyone ignore this mood.

”I don’t know when you’re able to eat something,” Zheng Qing turned to look at Xin Fat Man, whose mouth was greasy, and couldn’t help but sigh deeply, ”I feel like my stomach is twisted into a knot... like it’s cramping.”

”If we’re going to die anyway, shouldn’t we be allowed to have a full meal before we go?” Xin Fat Man rolled his eyes, giving a very sufficient reason. ”As for your stomach cramps, that’s an ailment that needs to be cured.”

If it were an ordinary day, Zheng Qing would’ve racked his brains to come up with reasons to refute Xin Fat Man’s argument, or at the very least, find a way to tease him. But now, he had no such mind, only frowning intensely and staring at several figures fighting in a tangle with the assistants not far away.

Although it was said to be several figures, in reality, it had always been just the Minotaur and the sporadically sneaky attacks of the turtle-backed dwarf entangled with the assistants. The beautiful serpent and the guy shimmering in golden light had always stayed at the rear of the Tree Men army, occasionally throwing a spell or two, appearing as if they were just spectating.

Finally, after the Minotaur was repelled by the assistants’ formation once again, it gave up continuing the attack and turned to furiously charge at its several companions.

”How long do you plan to stand by and watch?!” The Minotaur bellowed with red eyes, snorting out two thick gusts of white air from its nostrils, the voice shaking the very space: ”Don’t you feel it? It has already fallen!”

”You are its Righteous Body, we are not... Your senses are naturally much stronger than ours,” said the beautiful serpent, sticking out her long tongue, apparently sensing the fluctuations coming from the space which made her speech a bit muffled: ”Moreover, with you alone taking action, you’re about to shatter this space...”

”If we don’t take our spoils of war with us, then the only Destiny that awaits us is annihilation!” roared the Minotaur.

”Do you have any other destiny?” A cold voice interrupted the Minotaur’s roar, filled with a deadly seriousness.

All present simultaneously raised their heads to look in the direction of the voice.

They saw that next to the moon in the sky, a breathtaking figure draped in a Red Cloak had appeared out of nowhere.

Behind that figure, three colossal blue Fox tail phantoms swung silently, at a glance seemingly filling the entire sky.
