High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 920: Chapter 268 Code Name ’World

”What on earth is going on?”

Zheng Qing, with his arms crossed and brows furrowed, looked at Xin Fat Man.

”You’ve become the World!”

The fat man had finally recovered from his nervousness moments ago, and now he excitedly looked towards the young scholarship student, muttering repeatedly, ”This is insane, the school has gone mad! They’ve actually made you the World!”

Zheng Qing, feeling utterly confused and increasingly impatient, listened.

”Explain clearly,” he said as he stuffed the grey cloth bag into his chest, shaking his head in annoyance, ”Great, my revision notes and textbooks are still in the library... I’ll have to ask the doctor to help me get them back.”

”Forget about the notes and textbooks for now, you are the World!” Xin Fat Man grabbed Zheng Qing’s arm and started shaking it vigorously, ”The World! You’re the World now!”

Zheng Qing winced in pain, then smacked Xin Fat Man on the head, ”Are you sick in the head! Me, the World? Why not say I am the Universe? Just make yourself clear... Is this how you shake the World?”

Immediately realizing his mistake, Xin stepped back, brought his hands together and with an exaggerated face apologized, ”I’m truly sorry, the World, I just got too excited and couldn’t help myself, I’ve offended you... really offended you...”

Zheng Qing clicked his tongue, feeling a throbbing pain in his molars.

Without another word, he pulled out his Law Book again, and cast a Calming Incantation at Xin’s face:

”Silence and Think!”

Only then did he put away his Law Book and reminded him grumpily, ”Now, explain clearly what’s going on... There are only three days until the final exams, and you’ve got us both blacklisted from the Book Mountain Library, isn’t that fun?”

After being struck by the Calming Incantation, Xin finally regained his composure.

He took a deep breath, looked at Zheng Qing earnestly, and said, ”There’s your name on this year’s ’Arcana’ list from the Scepter, Great Arcana, ranked twenty-second, codenamed ’World’.”

After finishing, Xin looked eagerly at the scholarship student, hoping to see a similar shock reflected in his expression or demeanor.

Zheng Qing’s face scrunched up.

”Is that all?” he was indeed somewhat shocked, ”Just because I was included in the ’Arcana’ list by ’Scepter’, you had to make such a scene in the library? Do you really need to go see a campus doctor?”

Xin Fat Man smacked himself on the face, ”This really is casting pearls before swine.”

Zheng Qing also slapped Xin on the back, ”You know I am a scholarship student, of course I would be included in the ’Arcana’ list by the Scepter, what’s there to fuss about... But speaking of which, wasn’t this year’s ’Arcana’ list not yet released? I remember it’s only after 9:00 p.m. that the first draft is available.”

Since he did not find resonance in Zheng Qing, Xin’s spirit visibly dampened, he explained listlessly, ”You know, I was nominated for this year’s ’Golden Feather Pen’ award, so the editor-in-chief likes to keep me informed about major and minor matters. Just now, the Scepter sent a copy of the ’Arcana’ list they were about to publish to the editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, I happened to be there and glimpsed it. Your name caught my eye among the sea of names.”

”Not even a hundred names, and you dare mention a ’sea of names’.” Zheng Qing retorted from the side.

As Xin spoke, his emotions stirred up again, ”The World, the World! You freaking became the World...”

”So, why can’t I be the World?” Zheng Qing interrupted Xin, arguing listlessly.

”Because ’the World’ belongs to the ’Great Arcana’ list.” Xin said, holding up a finger and listing them one by one, ”The Great Arcana first, codenamed ’The Fool’, is the president of the First University, Professor Nameless.”

”Great Arcana second, codenamed ’Magician’, is the vice-president of First University, Professor If Foolish.”

”Great Arcana third, codenamed ’High Priestess’, is the vice-president of First University, Lady Shi Hui.”

...

”...Codename ’Pope,’ the headmaster of Atlas Academy...”

...

”...Codename ’Chariot’ and ’Strength,’ these are the current headmaster and vice-headmaster of Starry Sky Academy...”

...

”...Codename ’God of Death,’ the dean of the campus hospital...”

...

”...Codename ’Demon,’ the former head of Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab, Dr. Chen...”

...

As Xin Fat Man listed all the names from the Great Arcana list, Zheng Qing gradually realized why Fang Zi had been so shocked and excited.

Everyone on the Great Arcana list, from the first to the second to last, the youngest was Su Shijun, who had just joined the faculty this year, holding the positions of Upper House Member of the Moon Council and director of the Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab; the least famous was Master Baoyangzi, serving in the relevant departments; the lowest in rank was Mr. Octopus, who had just scolded two young wizards bloody in the library behind them.

But even that octopus, it was rumored, was recuperating in the library due to a failed attempt at becoming a Big Wizard. Including the school’s senior professors, old school workers, and upperclassmen, everyone showed the utmost respect in front of Mr. Octopus, daring not to be the slightest bit disrespectful.

Relatively speaking, even though Zheng Qing was a state-funded student at Jiuyou Academy, held a Merlin Medal, and had won a championship in this year’s freshman competition, the gap between him and the aforementioned figures was simply too vast.

It was to say, there was absolutely no comparison.

”Are you saying,” Zheng Qing carefully chose his words after Xin Fat Man finished counting on his fingers, slowly analyzing, ”my position on the Arcana list isn’t right?”

Xin Fat Man did not immediately agree with this.

”It’s not unheard of for a student from First University to enter the Great Arcana list,” Fat Man said at a breakneck pace, his saliva flying everywhere. ”Because the school newspaper asked me to write about the Arcana list before, I checked the relevant historical records and discovered that in the 1980 class from Alpha Academy, there was also a state-funded student named Terri Duzem, who had made it onto the Great Arcana list while he was a student.”

”But he was only shortlisted, and ultimately wasn’t approved by the faculty council...and when he made it onto the Great Arcana list, he was already a senior in the first university, having his own independent laboratory!”

”Compared to him, you are scum!”

Xin Fat Man’s words were merciless and even a bit sharp.

But Zheng Qing didn’t find it excessive.

He was also slowly realizing the reason for Fat Man’s excitement—more importantly, he happened to know that senior who had once been shortlisted for the Great Arcana list: ”Dr. Duzem graduated from school in his sophomore year, right? How could there be records from his senior year?”

”Is that the point?” Fat Man suddenly raised his voice, spraying Zheng Qing’s face with spittle: ”You are the World! You are now the World! You are the youngest World in the recorded history of the wizard world!!!”

”The people with the wands have gone mad!”

”I thought you’d manage a middling rank in the Wand Sequence at best...who the hell expected you to be the World!”

”Those guys with blue-green eyes are probably going crazy counting their money right now.”
