High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 934: Chapter 282 Winter Vacation Plan

Perhaps due to inherent differences, the four colleges of the First University each have their very distinctive features when it comes to college infrastructure.

The main building of Starry Sky Academy is a floating giant Rubik’s cube that is constantly rotating with a thunderous rumble, causing anyone who glances at it to feel a deep sense of shock and fear,

The main building of Atlas Academy, on the other hand, consists of several connected pyramids, which are mysterious and full of a sense of ceremony.

Comparatively, the architecture of Jiuyou Academy seems relatively conventional. However, the entire college is surrounded by thick, tall walls—closed off, but safe.

Alpha Academy, when compared to Jiuyou, seems much more open. Its main teaching area is located within an ancient castle, around which is a naturally developed town.

This town is Beta Town.

The First University is not just a university, but also the power center of the wizard world.

Therefore, in addition to the students seeking knowledge, there are many more wizards flocking around the First University—some in pursuit of truth, hoping to gain more knowledge and power from the school; some in pursuit of ambition, aiming to obtain the resources they need from the First University; and others simply needing a stable place to conduct their experiments, or to live out their retirement under the protection of the First University.

In short, a variety of needs have spawned a variety of settlements, which, along with the merchants seeking to profit from the First University in the wizard world, have stimulated Beta Town’s continuous development and expansion.

The residents of North Beta Town are an especially unique part of it.

Sometimes referred to by the wizard world newspapers as the ’Dent Area,’ it signifies an area where magic power is recessed. Just as Lin Zhong Lake is the reserved land for the Fishpeople, North Beta Town is the ’reserved land’ for the Tricksters.

However, the Tricksters’ ’reserved land’ has neither been recognized by the Mage Alliance nor received special certification from Danghag. It became so because the number of Tricksters living in this area grew, and other wizards, wanting to avoid suspicion, fled one after another, ultimately resulting in North Beta Town effectively becoming the ’reserved land’ for Tricksters.

Not long after joining the Campus Newspaper editorial team, Xin Fat Man began an assignment referred to as ’epic in difficulty’—to go to North Beta Town and investigate the living conditions of the Tricksters.

The assignment was extremely challenging.

Within the school, very few wizards supported his energy-wasting endeavor, including the chief editor of the Campus Newspaper. Compared to investigating the living conditions of the Tricksters, the chief editor preferred Xin Fat Man to converse more with clothed mice and report on the dark world beneath the First University.

But because of a certain stubborn sentiment, Fat Man persisted with the project.

For this, he even had several disputes with the heads of the student council and the Club Union, demanding the disclosure of specific expense details for several charity projects related to Trickster aid.

Even now, Fat Man was still continuously refining his investigation, which had been ongoing for several months.

”So you’re saying... you’re inviting me to North District because your investigation report isn’t finished yet, that’s what you mean, right?” Zheng Qing bit on the end of his pen, struggling to adjust the category of spells in his Law book, without even looking up as he asked Fat Man.

This conversation took place one day after the practical exams on Friday and less than two days before the practical exams of other subjects next week.

But after the toughest and most heavily weighted written exams were over, the atmosphere in Jiuyou Academy changed, shifting from the previous tension to a much more relaxed mood.

The light in dormitory room 403 also brightened up a bit as a result.

”This isn’t fruitless,” Fat Man leaned against his bed, his shirt rolled up to reveal his round, plump belly as he cradled Fatty Cat in his arms, letting it knead away on his belly, ”I can list you as a second correspondent or even a co-author. That would be somewhat helpful for your comprehensive evaluation in the second half of the year.”

”Hmm,” Zheng Qing perked up at the idea, ”Is that alright with the Campus Newspaper editorial department?”

He meant to ask if the Campus Newspaper would allow a student not officially enrolled to act as a correspondent.

”It’s fine, very fine!” Fat Man slapped his pudgy hand on his belly, sending waves rippling across it as Tuan Tuan purred contentedly on top, ”The editorial department never fusses over such details... As long as you can produce an article with great appeal, they couldn’t care less if the author is a Fishman or a Ghost.”

”So you’re saying, I am on the same level as a Fishman or a Ghost now?” Zheng Qing couldn’t help but retort.

”If Gongsun Yuan hears you speak like that, he’d definitely slap you with a ’suspected of discrimination’ label,” Doctor Xiao, who had been lying on the bed with a notebook covering his head, suddenly lifted the notebook and glanced at Zheng Qing with a tilted head.

Gongsun Yuan is the chairman of the First University’s student council’s Moral and Discipline Committee and a third-year Veteran at Alpha Academy. He is well-known for being staunch, serious, and prejudiced against students from other academies. But since he is a senior member of the Blood Comrades and their leader Augustus also serves as the chairman of the First University student council, Gongsun Yuan has been able to continue leading the school’s Moral and Discipline Committee with his biases intact.

”I didn’t, I am not, you heard wrong,” Zheng Qing immediately resorted to the triple denial in response to the sensitive word ’discrimination.’ After all, he was somewhat of a public figure now and needed to develop this kind of reflex.

After denying, Zheng Qing skillfully changed the subject. He continued to look at Fat Man, asking in a negotiating tone, ”Accompanying you to North District isn’t really a problem... but as you know, I am a state-funded student, and after the final exams, there is still half a month of public service work... Do I have the time for it?”

”You have the time, definitely,” Fat Man, seeing that he had drawn in a new partner, smiled until his eyes became slits, ”We’re not leaving the island... North District is very close. A round trip in one day is sufficient. It won’t take much time.”

”Moreover, you can apply to the School Works Committee to have your public service work arranged in North Beta Town,” Xiao Xiao reminded him.

”Eh? Is that even possible?” Zheng Qing’s eyes widened in surprise, ”Isn’t that arranged by the school?”

”Public service actions in North Beta Town have always been the ones with the worst conditions and fewest volunteers among all public service actions of the First University. If someone volunteers to go, the School Works Committee would be too happy to refuse,” Xiao Xiao snorted, picking up the notebook again to cover his head, ”Anyone with a bit of brain would think of this.”
