High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 926: Chapter 274 Eight Directions Stirring (Part 4)

”Zheng Qing... who exactly is he?”

Rat Immortal tugged at his short whiskers, eyeing the newspaper spread on the coffee table and studying the picture of the nervous young wizard, Hehe, and asked softly, ”Or rather, why him?”

”Who is he?”

The Wandering Wizard repeated Rat Immortal’s question, then chuckled softly—a laugh that grew louder and louder, shaking the entire room. The fireflies hanging on the vines dropped like rain-ravaged leaves.

Rat Immortal frowned slightly, straightening up a bit and resting his large belly, silently watching the elder wizard opposite him.

”He is both a nightmare and a hope; a demon as well as an angel; the embodiment of Satan, sowing seeds of fear among mortals; he is Yahweh’s child, a dawn praying for peace for all beings.”

At this point, the Wandering Wizard paused, looked at Rat Immortal, and added softly, ”Moreover, he is a path.”

”A path?” Rat Immortal keenly caught the implied meaning behind the Wandering Wizard’s words, his small eyes wide open, ”He? That freshman? He has a path?”

”He is the path,” the Wandering Wizard corrected Rat Immortal’s terms and then smiled faintly, raising his glass and adding, ”Oh, by the way, he is also a Gold Card Member of the Wandering Bar.”

Rat Immortal dismissed the self-satisfied remark of the Wandering Wizard.

His chubby body struggled to lean forward, then somehow produced a monocle, perched it on his sharp nose, and focused on the tiny figure in the newspaper, muttering repeatedly, ”Incredible, truly magical... Could this be the Principal’s final work?... He looks just like an ordinary student.”

In the newspaper, the young wizard standing awkwardly on the podium, increasingly nervous under Rat Immortal’s gaze, finally hid his entire head behind his speech—showing a bit more responsibility compared to many others who would simply walk away from the photo when upset.

”An ordinary student wouldn’t be awarded the status of the Great Arcana. Even if the initial selectors of magic wands were blind, the final review by the Professorial Council of First University would not be fools.” The Wandering Wizard sipped from ’Time of Flowing Gold,’ watching the golden specks disappear into his mouth, smacking his lips in satisfaction, ”This wine really tastes fantastic, you shouldn’t waste it.”

Rat Immortal pushed away the wine glass in front of him, took off his glasses, and looked up at the Wandering Wizard.

”How did you come by this information?” His expression was somewhat serious, though diluted by the many wrinkles on his face.

Still, the sharpness of his inquiry wasn’t concealed.

The Wandering Wizard chuckled softly, not directly answering Rat Immortal’s skepticism and vaguely said, ”Just as we have discussed before... if the Council can include Demons, creatures under the moon, and Black Wizards, why can’t it include White Wizards? The darkness of the Dark Council isn’t confined to the darkness we inhabit.”

”Unexpected yet reasonable,” Rat Immortal remarked succinctly.

...

...

”Goodness gracious, what an unexpected turn of events!”

A black-haired young man, dressed in a pink POLO shirt and blue-and-white floral-patterned board shorts, flailed a newspaper high into the air, shouting energetically, ”Look, look, the reaction of First University’s Professorial Council to the Arcana list—no comment! Hey, this really is a slap in the face for those uncrowned kings!”

On the vast deck, except for Harry’s shouting, there was not a whisper of other activity.

The figurehead, a female demon, aside from her hair, couldn’t even move her eyelids and naturally would not respond to Harry’s words. The bald man hanging from the mainmast, who was always on the verge of death, didn’t have the energy to spare. Then there was the blonde young man sitting fishing by the ship’s side, looking like a monk in deep meditation, obviously uninterested in the conversation of the dark-haired young man.

As for the captain or the ship’s spirit, except for steering the ship or issuing other commands, they rarely appeared on deck at other times.

Perhaps the only one recently joined cook in the entire Mist Ship might have a slight interest in Harry’s topic.

Harry shouted so loudly indeed to provoke Nikita.

”Ting ting ting ting ting!”

A series of urgent high-heeled footsteps came from the side cabin and soon, a charming face peeked out.

The sunlight outside the cabin was a bit dazzling.

Nikita brushed aside the hair by her ear and, shading herself with her hand, she looked around.

”Newspaper?” she shouted, ”If you don’t want an extra layer of fly jam or a few more drops of wood flea juice on your afternoon tea snacks, you’d better hurry up and...”

Before she could finish, a pink figure suddenly appeared before the female demon.

”Hey hey hey, let’s talk nicely, don’t just threaten someone with snacks, will you?” Harry, squinting his crimson eyes, sized up the female demon dressed as the cook, adding, ”Like this, you’ll never get a chance to go ashore.”

”Tsk.” Nikita scoffed dismissively, snatched the newspaper out of Harry’s hands, and quickly skimmed through the report.

”Speaking of which, you are already demonized by the wizards, why do you still care about what’s Arcana?” Harry held his head with both hands, lounging about next to the female demon, pacing from the deck to the cabin wall and then stepping into the void, his whole body rotating three hundred and sixty degrees slowly like a clock hand, without seeming out of place at all.

It was as if there was a invisible path beneath his feet.

”You talk as if you don’t engage in gambling hunting,” Nikita glanced sideways at the dark-haired young man and mocked.

”No, no, no,” Harry waved his hands continually, denying, ”The chips I bet are completely the opposite of the wizards’... Earning sparkling jade coins from the wizards’ hands is the biggest provocation to all wizards.”

This time, Nikita didn’t respond.

It wasn’t that she thought Harry made sense, but she noticed some wording in the newspaper report.

”Umm... what does ’the school opposes any organization or individual’s disparaging comments on independent third-party ratings and won’t comment on those who disparage,’ mean?”

The female demon repeated the official statement from the newspaper, raising her eyebrows high, ”If I remember correctly, didn’t a newspaper previously mention that the Arcana list is released only after it’s reviewed by the joint meeting of First University professors... Is that considered an independent third-party institution?”

”Maybe this is what they call, ’deceiving oneself’?” The dark-haired young man was hanging upside down in the void, his head nearly touching the forehead of the female demon. Yet, miraculously, neither his clothes nor his hair fell towards the ground but instead pointed smoothly towards the sky.

It seemed, for him, the sky and the earth had completely inverted at that moment.
