High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 904: Chapter 252: The Rise of the Rabbit and the Fall of the Falcon

After hearing Su Shijun’s words, Zheng Qing did not hesitate at all. He got up from the snow and, dragging and pulling along Doctor Xiao who was nearby, he kicked Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, and the four of them rolled and scrambled toward the teaching assistants nearby.

As a child, having watched too many movies and melodramatic TV dramas, whenever it came to a life-and-death moment, like when the male protagonist desperately blocked an assassin, Giant Beast, zombie, eunuch, inspector, boss, or other deadly characters, the female protagonist always tearfully, unnecessarily, and desperately refused to leave, ultimately missing the best chance to escape, and they both ended up with no place to bury themselves.

Zheng Qing had warned himself more than once that if he really found himself in such a situation, he must seriously flee for his life, taking with him the sacrifice made by others so that their sacrifice would not be in vain.

Now, he was truly in that situation.

Moreover, he fled for his life very logically and seriously, just as he had simulated in his mind a thousand times.

However, for some reason, he felt a heavy blockage in his heart.

Focus! Focus!

The male Warlock slapped himself hard twice.

He still had to go back and take care of Poseidon! He still had to help Su Su smash Old Yao’s office!

There were still many things he had to do now, he couldn’t afford to be distracted at this time.

Zheng Qing’s gaze swept over the nearby snow-covered ground—He needed to figure out how to wake up the unconscious teaching assistants, manage to stop the bleeding from their wounds, and then figure out a way to pass through the temporary corridor next to the fragmented moon—Su Daxu had said, he only had one minute!

One minute, sixty ticks of the second hand and it would be gone.

It had already ticked four or five times now, right?!

This thought floated through Zheng Qing’s mind, but he did not actually pull out a pocket watch to calculate the time. Every second right now was precious.

Luckily, during the Minotaur’s charge at the teaching assistants’ defensive battle array, several Hunters from the Absolution Hunting Team were right in the center, receiving minimal damage, so Zheng Qing was not fighting alone.

And the fastest, Zhang Ji Xin, had already made it to a motionless teaching assistant’s side, helping him up and feeding him some Snake Oil. Following closely behind, Xin Fat Man quickly flipped out a bunch of bottles and jars, rushing towards the other injured teaching assistants.

Things seemed to be moving in the right direction.

Zheng Qing thought this at the bottom of his heart, finally couldn’t resist, and looked back in the direction of Su Shijun—Once upon a time, he had so despised such indecisive behavior. But now, he suddenly understood that sometimes the right choice wasn’t necessarily correct, and the wrong choice couldn’t really be said to be wrong.

Then he saw a scene that made one’s eyes split with rage.

A skinny hand with six fingers had just reached out from the black hole emitted by the Minotaur, mimicking the motion of a flick.

When Zheng Qing turned his head, the middle finger of that giant hand had just rapidly flicked outward.

”Snap!”

A sharp burst of air hit Su Shijun hard, knocking her back and causing her to spit blood in midair. The space that the Witch had been tenaciously stabilizing started to crack again with a series of sharp, snapping noises.

”What a disappointing result.”

A hoarse voice echoed from the depths of that black hole, humming and buzzing, making Zheng Qing’s whole body tingle. Ironically, this intense buzzing sound inadvertently helped the young Wizards of the Absolution Hunting Team a great deal—it woke up many of the teaching assistants who had fallen into a coma.

However, at this moment, Zheng Qing had completely lost the will to escape.

Because he saw that the six fingers on that giant hand had already retracted and clenched into a fist, ready to smash down on Su Shijun again.

”Get out of the way!!”

The young warlock could no longer deceive himself into sensibility, and with a roar, he drew two charm guns from his embrace: a Colt Python in his left hand and a Remington in his right, recklessly shooting at the giant hand.

”Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”

The revolving cylinder of the revolver clicked and spun, ejecting multicolored fu bullets one after another.

”Bang... click! Bang... click!”

The rhythm of the Remington was noticeably slower than that of the Colt, but its superior power compensated well for this shortcoming.

The warlock roared, charging toward the giant hand with his guns raised.

His self-esteem, his beliefs, his thoughts, they would not allow him just to sit idly by any longer.

To live was to struggle free.

If he was indeed to die, then he would die with dignity!

”Really... what a... fool.”

Su Shijun knelt on the ground, a trace of blood and a slight smile hanging from the corner of her mouth. Her red cloak was torn and stained with many spots of mud. The three fox tails that had been flaunting about had completely disappeared.

”Oh... I was just worried you might run off,” the voice from the black hole hinted at awareness of the commotion on this end and, far from being angry at the young scholarship student’s charging move, sounded even a little pleasantly surprised, ”The process is messy... but the luck seems not too bad?”

As it spoke, the giant hand that was originally clenched and smashing toward Su Shijun suddenly opened again, shifted, and scooped along the ground towards the charging young warlock.

Zheng Qing watched as fu bullets hit the giant hand, only sparking a few embers; his most familiar and supposedly ”all-binding” Gē Lǐ withered, carbonized, and finally turned into streaks of black ash that rustled down onto the snowy ground upon touching the giant hand.

The enormous hand covered the sky as it reached for Zheng Qing, the fractured spatial fissures providing no hindrance to it.

The young scholarship student could clearly see the intersecting lines on the palm, the slightly charred tips on its six fingers, and even the fine hairs sprouting in the gaps between the fingers.

”Come with me... your future shouldn’t be confined to this small island.”

The raspy voice carried hints of laughter, pride, and impatience.

”Meow?!”

A familiar yet foreign cat’s meow resounded next to Zheng Qing’s ear, and then he felt a furry little paw on his belly.

”Bang!”

”Ouch! Mist grass!!”

The young scholarship student clutched his stomach and screamed in agony, flying back even faster than when he had charged forth.

As he gasped for air, picking himself up from the snowy ground, he immediately saw the culprit of his pain.

A Yellow Flowered Cat with its tail up and body bowed, confronting the giant hand.

”Hiss... Brother Huang?” Zheng Qing hesitated, greeting the creature.

”Aoow!!” The Yellow Flowered Cat didn’t speak but issued a warning growl from its throat. Whether this sound was directed at the giant hand or at Zheng Qing was not clear.
