High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 923: Chapter 271: An Uninvited Guest in the Laboratory

First University, Jiuyou Academy.

Office building, room Zhong-101.

The empty and dark room was devoid of any sound, making this already somber place feel even more oppressive. In the void on all sides, specks of light twinkled faintly, accentuating the conference table at the center of the room, making it seem even more distant and insignificant.

A dragon-shaped chandelier coiled around the oval conference table, with dozens of sprites holding rags and brushes, silently weaving through its intricately sculpted scale armor, polishing its body until it gleamed.

Under the chandelier, unlike usual, there were not dozens of high-backed chairs, but only six chairs scattered about.

One at the head and one at the foot, two on each side.

Vice Principals of First University sat at either end of the table, with deans of the four institutions flanking both sides, none of them were truly present, merely seated by projection.

”Is this really a good idea? He’s just a child after all,” Professor Emma softened her usual assertive demeanor, her tone tinged with concern.

Her form appeared slightly distorted under the glow of the dragon-shaped chandelier, seeming somewhat more slender.

”There’s nothing good or bad... Misfortune leans on fortune for support, and fortune is where misfortune hides,” said Old Yao. Although only a projection, he still habitually bit on his pipe, the smoke emanating from it with the swaying projection, as if the light was undulating.

In front of him, a broad newspaper unfolded, covering much of his face and preventing one from discerning his expression clearly, although the expression of a projection was already hard to see.

The newspaper headline ”Who is ’World’? Whose world? Who will save the world?” in bold black font was striking, and even from the backside, it seemed one could still sense the sharpness of the article.

Vice Principal Shi’s gaze passed over the title of that newspaper, her eyes becoming somewhat more somber.

”Authority is the most important aspect of ’Arcana’... Sometimes, a delayed proof can cause such authority to sink deeper into people’s hearts,” Vice Principal Shi’s forefinger tapped lightly on the table, silent yet effortlessly capturing the attention of the other grand wizards.

Her voice took a turn, growing a bit heavier, ”Compared with this list, I am more concerned about the movements of the Moon Council... Their claws have reached too far... and they’ve been shirking the school’s arrangements time and again.”

”The school has no jurisdiction over the Moon Council,” Vice Principal Ruoyu spoke softly from across her. He was enveloped in his large robe, with a hood over his head, looking, at a glance, like a patch of darkness as if he were merely a shadow.

”But if we turn a blind eye to their continuous probes, I fear that even the hyenas that have hitherto been watching from afar will leap forward and take a bite,” Professor Emma clearly did not agree with Vice Principal Ruoyu’s view.

”Shall we cut off their claws?” The dean of Starry Sky Academy chuckled, ”As far as I know, there have been some sneaky uninvited guests around lately.”

”Su Shijun is still staying at the school, which is the best statement from the Moon Council. Even First University is not united as one, so we can’t expect there to be no dissent within the Moon Council,” Old Yao put down the newspaper and took a deep puff of his pipe, ”Tss... give them one more chance, prepare the summoning order.”

The meeting room fell into a moment of silence.

...

...

Just as the school’s leaders were discussing Su Shijun.

Deep in Buji Island, the Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab.

In Su Shijun’s office, a sudden uninvited guest had also arrived.

”I remember you’re the class monitor for Dean Yao’s class, aren’t you?” Su Shijun said with that pair of large glasses on her face, resting her chin on her left hand and pressing a stack of lab materials with her right, tilting her head and sizing up the witch across from her with curiosity, ”Do you need something from me?”

Although in theory, wizards can know a lot through divination, on one hand, divination has a great backlash, and on the other hand, not everyone is good at this complex magical skill, nor can everyone clearly and accurately see through the fog.

Therefore, apart from a few oddballs, very few people use divination for every little thing.

Jiang Yu, dressed in a red robe from Jiuyou Academy, was sitting opposite Su Shijun.

On her chest, she pinned the emblem of Jiuyou Academy and a badge signifying her role as the class monitor, her hands resting on her knees, her upper body straight, sitting in an upright position, and her expression was very solemn.

”I’m very sorry to disturb you,” upon hearing Su Shijun’s question, she first bowed her head to express her regrets, and then explained, ”I’m here today because of Zheng Qing.”

”Oh...” Su Shijun drew out her voice, straightened up a bit, squinting at the witch opposite her, with a hint of an inscrutable smile appearing on her face, ”Who is Zheng Qing?”

Jiang Yu pursed her lips.

”He’s the student listed with you in this year’s Great Arcana Sequence,” even though she knew the beautiful woman opposite her was feigning ignorance, she still explained very earnestly, ”He’s also Dean Yao’s student, in the Ninth-Grade Astronomy Class 08-1, my classmate.”

”Hmm, now that you mention it, I seem to have some impression.” Su Shijun adjusted her glasses, asking in a light tone, ”So, what exactly are you here for?”

Jiang Yu took a deep breath, and then explained in a rapid pace, ”Because of this year’s Arcana list issue, Professor Trudeau is planning to challenge Zheng Qing to a duel, scheduling it for after the final exams... I’ve been to the office building, but including Dean Yao, Professor Emma, and many other professors have disappeared. So in the end, I could only come to you.”

”But I don’t know that Trudeau person, do I?” Su Shijun blinked, ”And, what does that have to do with you?”

Jiang Yu’s face turned slightly red.

”I am the class monitor of Astronomy Class 08-1,” she cleared her throat, emphasizing, ”Zheng Qing is our classmate... Not to stop this after knowing about it would be a dereliction of duty.”

”Tsk, let’s just say I believe what you say,” Su Shijun curled her lip and retorted, ”Still, I don’t quite understand why you’d come to me with his problem?”

Jiang Yu bravely met the gaze of the famous witch opposite her, hesitating for a moment, finally whispering three words:

”Poseidon.”

Upon hearing this, Su Shijun’s expression immediately turned serious.

Her fingertips lightly tapped on the desktop, and the half-closed door of the office abruptly shut.

The room plunged into silence.

Jiang Yu sat still in her chair, as if she could hear the busy sounds of divination calculations racing through the heart of the witch opposite her. But she remained expressionless, offering no further explanation.

After a long while,

Su Shijun finally spoke again.

”It’s that girl Su Ya, isn’t it?” Su Shijun said knowingly, ”She has a good relationship with the little sprite from the Li family.”

As a great witch, she only needed to seriously calculate, and there were few things that could escape her eyes. Moreover, she was too proud to deny or cover up anything.
