Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 799: Chapter 407: Asking Sky-High Prices

”Because I believe in you! Besides, when you were writing that program, I was right by your side. I saw with my own eyes how you optimized it step by step, constantly revising and rewriting until it became that amazing artificial intelligence program.”

Lawrence Winters trusted his instincts, and she was personally involved, knowing how Kenneth Osborne perfected that software program in the end.

She definitely didn’t believe Kenneth Osborne had infringed on anyone’s patents or copyrights.

Kenneth Osborne felt reassured and said with a smile, ”I haven’t infringed on their patents, if they even have them. But when it comes to the copyright licenses, that’s still hard to say. Because they indeed had copyright licenses over thirty years ago, so now they have grounds to sue me for infringement.”

Lawrence Winters blinked, ”This whole situation is really strange. I know you don’t believe in those supernatural things, but if you open your mind and think a little.”

”Could someone be capable of time travel? Like, they discovered the public records of your patent and copyright applications, then suddenly zipped back thirty years ago and added this piece of code to their program, then hurriedly applied for patents and copyright licenses. So thirty years later, knowing you would succeed and make a lot of money, they’re suing you to claim compensation, thus earning money effortlessly.”

Kenneth Osborne looked at her speechlessly and said earnestly, ”Nora, read fewer of those pointless web novels in the future.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

”That’s still a possibility! Even if the likelihood is low!” Lawrence Winters clenched her fist and waved it, ”Why are you so rigid in your thinking?!”

Kenneth Osborne walked into the house alone, saying as he went, ”It’s not that I’m rigid in my thinking, it’s that your argument is illogical.”

”If someone could really time travel, do you think they would need to scour online public records to get my code? Do you know how much cutting-edge science and technology it would take if time travel were possible?”

”Any single piece of scientific technology related to time travel could easily surpass my special effects AI software. So why would that person ignore their treasury just to steal someone else’s brass?”

Lawrence Winters was left blushing, even feeling a bit embarrassed by Kenneth Osborne’s questions.

She was also a bit angry because Kenneth Osborne had rebuffed her mercilessly, and for the first time, she was at a loss for words, not knowing how to counter.

So she felt a bit upset.

She didn’t speak, keeping her head down as she followed Kenneth Osborne into the house.

Kenneth, thinking about the predicament he might be facing, didn’t pay attention to the shift in Lawrence Winters’s emotions.

Or rather, he thought this type of contemplation was a good trend, at least it allowed Lawrence Winters to clear her head a little.

He still believed there were no supernatural forces in the world, just science not keeping up with humanity’s understanding, leading to those mystical phenomena.

...

After they returned home, Kenneth Osborne took a shower first and then went to bed immediately.

He slept until the evening, and after waking up, he went outside to take a look, finding the place completely quiet, with only him there.

He picked up his phone, checked Lawrence Winters’s location, and discovered she had gone to the hospital again.

Kenneth Osborne sighed and sent her a WeChat message: Are you coming back to eat tonight, or should I prepare food and bring it over to you?

Lawrence Winters was looking at some information on her phone just then, and seeing the WeChat message, she responded immediately: I’ve already ordered food at a restaurant that specializes in health soups; come over and eat with us when you wake up.

Kenneth Osborne was a bit tired, so he shook his head, ”I won’t go. I’ll just make something to eat at home. You guys enjoy your meal. By the way, are you coming back tonight?”

”I’m not coming back; I have to stay overnight.” Lawrence Winters said tactfully, ”But my mom and dad will come home. They’ve been at the hospital for a week now.”

Kenneth Osborne nodded, ”It’s a bit inconvenient here, so I’ll come to the hospital to keep you company overnight.”

”No need, you’re always staying up late, which is bad for your health, so just rest well. There’s nothing inconvenient here.”

”Mom and dad need time and space to themselves, Nora. If you won’t let me come to the hospital to be with you and the old master, then I’ll just go back to my own place.”

”Alright then. You do need a good rest.” Lawrence Winters didn’t stand on ceremony with him.

Being a married couple, the house that Kenneth Osborne bought also had keys for Lawrence Winters.

Kenneth Osborne left Lawrence Winters’s neighborhood before Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller returned home, going back to the three-room apartment he had bought.
