Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 795: Chapter 405: Very Good, Very Powerful (Second Update)

Francis Johnson also nodded, ”We’ll come up with a solution. However, in this matter, we can only provide you with legal consultation. If you decide to go to court, we cannot represent you in court.”

Lydia Graham is now the chief legal advisor representing past clients, and she indeed cannot step into the forefront in such legal disputes between private enterprises.

Of course, Kenneth Osborne didn’t expect a legal bigwig like Lydia Graham to defend him in court.

He was silent for a moment and then said, ”I think the key question is to figure out why a piece of code written over thirty years ago contains an artificial intelligence instruction language identical to the one I wrote over thirty years later.”

”Even if others don’t believe it, I know myself that I haven’t seen their code or used any open-source code. It’s all my hard work from start to finish. If I don’t get to the bottom of this issue, even if we win the case, I won’t be satisfied.”

”You have to know I’m only twenty-four this year; over thirty years ago, I wasn’t even born.”

Francis Johnson and Lydia Graham exchanged a glance and had to comfort him this way: ”Maybe great minds think alike.”

”Who is the author of that software?” Kenneth Osborne wasn’t comforted, and felt extremely aggrieved.

Francis Johnson looked at the software signature and said regretfully, ”This is software owned by a company with copyrights, and there is no personal signature.”

Over thirty years ago, the copyright environment was not as comprehensive as it is today.

”Then what should we do? Are we just going to stand by and watch them tarnish my reputation? How can my company survive?” Kenneth Osborne’s face looked a bit disappointed.

He runs a company that develops artificial intelligence software applications.

If he’s found guilty of infringement and plagiarism, it would be devastating for his company’s creativity and reputation.

Lydia Graham, being quick-witted, thought rapidly and tentatively suggested, ”How about this—why don’t you contact the other company and see how they understand and apply the software from a technical perspective?”

Kenneth Osborne understood what she meant, his brow relaxed, and he smiled, ”That’s reasonable. ’To capture the tiger’s cub, one must enter the tiger’s den.’ I do want to see which ’great mind’ thought the same way as I did over thirty years ago.”

...

After leaving Kenneth Osborne’s office, Francis Johnson and Lydia Graham remained silent.

It wasn’t until they reached the empty parking lot, having descended from the elevator, that Francis Johnson asked Lydia Graham in a low voice, ”...Do you believe Kenneth Osborne didn’t use others’ code?”

Lydia Graham calmly replied, ”That’s not within my scope of consideration. If Kenneth Osborne were my client, even if he used it, I would protect his interests. Within the limits of the law, I would spare no effort to turn black into white.”

”It’s too bad he can’t be your client,” Francis Johnson chuckled, ”but our country is fortunate to have a chief legal advisor like you, willing to go to any lengths to protect national interests.”

”Kenneth Osborne is also a citizen of our country. Protecting him and his creativity is safeguarding our national interests. I will follow up on this matter, but I really can’t be at the forefront.”

Lydia Graham glanced at the email forwarded from Francis Johnson on her phone, scrolling down to the bottom to see the original sender.

”...Spring Spencer? Was she the one who tipped Kenneth off?”

Francis Johnson nodded, ”She’s quite a fierce person. She’s the daughter of Mr. Spencer, who ranks tenth on the billionaire list. They reportedly had a falling-out, and she was kicked out, losing her inheritance rights.”

Lydia Graham didn’t care about the billionaire list; she simply said, ”Since she’s willing to help Kenneth, let’s see what information she knows. I think Kenneth’s focus is right. If he truly hasn’t infringed, then we need to understand why a piece of code from thirty years ago would appear as an identical artificial intelligence core program instruction written independently thirty years later.”

”It’s said that there is also an author’s signature within. Unfortunately, I can’t tell who this author signature represents,” Francis Johnson said regretfully, ”I think this author signature is peculiar, it seems like a riddle, and only someone who solves the riddle can see who the real author is.”

”Embedding an enigmatic machine language representing the author’s signature in the fundamental artificial intelligence program. Smart, very strong,” Lydia Graham laughed and winked at Francis Johnson, ”I wonder if my dad would be interested in this.”
