Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 788: Chapter 403: Head of the Household (Third Update)

”He also has a gun?” Those who pursued them searched the car that had been sawed into pieces again and, incredibly, found another gun under a seat.

In addition to finding another gun, they also discovered a leather bag containing identification documents, a passport, a pile of cash, and a compass.

Lawrence Winters couldn’t help but twitch slightly at the corner of her eye when she saw that compass.

She suddenly raised her gaze to the three people and said in surprise, ”Are you actually from the Grant Branch? Or did the Grant Branch bribe you to harm my family?”

The three people originally had a set of words prepared to cover up their identity but were unexpectedly seen through by Lawrence Winters.

However, they didn’t admit it and simply closed their eyes and pretended to be dead.

The people who pursued them packed all the items in transparent plastic bags and told Lawrence Winters, ”Miss Winters, don’t worry, we will hand them over to the police for processing.”

Although Lawrence Winters was full of doubts, she didn’t ask much more; she just exchanged WeChat numbers with the leader of those people, saying she wanted to keep in touch to know the results of the interrogation.

Those people set aside a car to send her to the hospital and also called a tow truck to take her Grand Cherokee away for repairs.

Afterward, Lawrence Winters didn’t worry about the incident anymore, as the police were handling everything; she just needed to wait for accurate information.

...

The people sent Lawrence Winters to the hospital where Leo Carter was, and found the old Daoist’s ward.

Lawrence Winters saw her mother Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller waiting at the door, both looking very nervous.

”Mom, Dad.” Lawrence Winters quickly stepped forward to join them.

Nick Zeller raised his head sharply and looked Lawrence Winters up and down. Seeing that she was okay, he nodded heavily, ”As long as you’re alright, sit down quickly. Your grandmaster is having surgery inside.”

Gabrielle Winters also grabbed her hand, choking with emotion, ”Where did you run off to? You scared me to death!”

”Mom, I’m fine.” She paused but didn’t mention the incident earlier, choosing not to add to their psychological burden.

She sat down with Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller to wait for the surgery results.

”Dad, which doctor is performing the surgery on Grandmaster inside?”

”Dr. Chen, and supposedly an invited expert,” Nick Zeller said absentmindedly, staring at the surgical room’s door.

Lawrence Winters breathed a sigh of relief.

She had a strong feeling that the ”invited expert” was undoubtedly Professor Ian Lothrop.

She had been able to leave earlier to pursue those criminals because she heard that the person protecting her was sent by Professor Ian Lothrop.

Since Ian Lothrop had planned in advance, now that her family is seriously injured, Ian Lothrop will definitely come to perform the surgery.

And she had immense confidence in Ian Lothrop’s skills, knowing everything would be fine, which is why she didn’t come to the hospital and instead chose to pursue those attempting to harm her family.

Besides, she wasn’t a doctor; following them to the hospital wouldn’t increase the Daoist’s chances of survival.

Everything still depended on Ian Lothrop’s expertise.

While they were waiting outside the surgery room, Kenneth Osborne saw the news, and the person in the video posted by the netizens looked incredibly familiar to him.

Isn’t that Lawrence Winters?

What happened again?

He quickly called Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters took out her phone, sighed in relief seeing it was Kenneth Osborne, and answered, ”Kenneth.”

”Nora, what happened? I saw the news online; is the person trending you?”

Lawrence Winters pressed her lips together, ”My grandmaster was hit by a car and is now in surgery.”

”Ah?! Which hospital?” Kenneth Osborne immediately stood up, asking nervously.

He really liked that mystical old Daoist, although he didn’t agree with their profession, he appreciated the old man’s transparent personality and way of dealing with things.

Lawrence Winters told him the hospital address.

Kenneth Osborne hastily closed his computer, packed his things haphazardly, and drove to the hospital to wait for the surgery results with Lawrence Winters and the others.

Lawrence Winters relaxed completely upon seeing Kenneth Osborne, leaning against him silently.

Kenneth Osborne recalled the video he saw earlier and wanted to ask what exactly happened.

But Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller weren’t in the mood to discuss it now, and Lawrence Winters appeared exhausted as if she’d raced a hundred miles.

So, he didn’t ask for the time being.

Two hours later, the red light at the surgery room door went out, and the big doors opened, with a group of doctors and nurses dressed in green surgical clothes streaming out.

Lawrence Winters immediately stood up, recognizing the person at the forefront as Professor Ian Lothrop.

Although he was wearing a mask, his wise and sharp eyes, always carrying a mocking look, were very memorable.
