Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 791: Chapter 404: The Expert Steps In (First Update)

Kenneth Osborne thought he heard wrong and said firmly, ”What did you say? What code patent? What signature? — That’s impossible!”

”How is it impossible? They’ve got part of the code from your special effects software, saying it’s identical to a template program for AI software patented over thirty years ago, and it even has the software engineer’s signature,” Spring Spencer said, sending the part of the documents she obtained to Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne opened the file in his email and looked at it for a while, his face turning pale.

Some of the code in that patented AI software was indeed identical to the code in his special effects software!

He quickly went online to search for the opponent’s software code information on foreign patent websites.

Sure enough, he found this patent license number!

He pounded the table hard, pressed his lips together, and said, ”I need to take a closer look at their materials, but I can guarantee I’ve never plagiarized!”

The code for that program was something he typed out line by line by himself, burning the midnight oil.

Because no one had done such work before, he didn’t even have reference books and figured it out entirely on his own.

Later, with Lawrence Winters’ help, he perfected the deep learning model of the AI.

He knew better than anyone that it couldn’t be plagiarism.

But the code in the opponent’s documents also looked particularly familiar to him.

What on earth is going on?

Spring Spencer, feeling a bit awkward, said flatly, ”I’m just reminding you, of course I believe you, but you need to convince the other side, or at least the judge.”

This meant that the other party was going to sue.

Kenneth Osborne took a deep breath and said hastily, ”I need to think carefully about how to respond. Thank you for your message, I’ll hang up now.”

Spring Spencer quickly said, ”Yeah, don’t panic. I know some excellent patent lawyers here, and if it goes to court, they can represent you fully.”

”Thank you, I’ll consider it,” Kenneth Osborne didn’t agree immediately.

This matter wasn’t his alone; he had to consult with others.

After hanging up, Kenneth Osborne immediately sent a message to Francis Johnson: ”Mr. Johnson, are you available? I have an urgent matter and need a face-to-face.”

Kenneth Osborne rarely requested a face-to-face meeting with Francis Johnson.

Even though it was the weekend, Francis Johnson was also working overtime.

When he saw Kenneth Osborne’s message, he immediately called him and said, ”Osborne, what’s the urgent matter?”

Kenneth Osborne explained the situation to him and also said, ”Mr. Johnson, you know my software is independently developed by me, and I’m in the process of registering copyright and patents domestically. But the other side pulled this stunt.”

Francis Johnson was very familiar with the development process of Kenneth Osborne’s AI software and trusted his capabilities.

However, if a foreign company was officially going to court over infringement, it needed to be taken seriously.

He immediately said, ”Do you have the materials from the other side? Send them over, and I’ll consult some legal experts for you.”

Kenneth Osborne immediately forwarded to Francis Johnson the materials that Spring Spencer had just sent him.

Francis Johnson looked at the materials for a while and frowned.

He was also a computer expert, and when he saw these codes, he indeed had some doubts about the similarities.

He looked at it for a while and asked Kenneth Osborne, ”...Be honest with me, is the program code in your AI software for special effects really entirely written by you? Didn’t you use any open-source code?”

Kenneth Osborne said solemnly, ”Mr. Johnson, you’re an expert too. I think you can see that all the source code in my program is self-written. I even developed the foundational language myself. Since the AI I created surpasses any known program framework in the world, how could I use someone else’s open-source code?”

Francis Johnson nodded, ”Okay, I believe you. Wait a moment, I’ll contact you in five minutes.”

He hung up Kenneth Osborne’s call and immediately dialed Lydia Graham, saying, ”Chief Lydia, are you available? I have a legal matter I’d like to consult you about.”

Lydia Graham had just been outwitted by her young son, Little Asway, and was exhausted.

Seeing Francis Johnson calling her, she quickly said, ”I’m available, I’m available! Please rescue me! I’d rather work overtime!!!”

Truth be told, working overtime was more relaxing than raising her son at home. Lydia Graham glared at Asway.

Asway looked at her innocently and said with a smile, ”Then I’m leaving, mom, you get busy.”
